1 out of 5 eggsNo Good

Pros: It works often

Cons: But it crashes a lot, random Windows Video card stopped responding errors. It has also crashed during game play quite a few times.

2 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Decent card for the price. Runs fine... does its job.

Cons: ...After seven months this card has begun to fail. I'm getting severe artifacting... so I swapped it out for my old stock card that I saved just in case something like this happened.

2 out of 5 eggsDoA

Pros: If it worked, it would have been a really good card for the price. Came with 2 games, Assassin's Creed and CoD4 MW. The GT 240 is a very good budget gaming card meant for those playing at 1280x1024 or 1366x768 or so at medium settings.

Cons: Just like for many other reviewers here, this card didn't work. I saw red lines across the BIOS screen as soon as I booted up and the red lines continued into my Windows desktop. It's not a PSU issue because I ran a more powerful card using the same PSU before on the same mobo. Just based on the frequency of DOAs, I'm guessing there's some kind of manufacturing issue with this model.

I gave the card 2 stars because XFX RMA handled the case pretty well.

Other Thoughts: XFX upgraded me after I sent in the card. I won't reveal what they gave me but I was very happy with the replacement. The whole process took about 2 and a half weeks, and even though I had to call a couple of times, it was rather painless. They didn't ask me dumb questions about whether I installed the right drivers or not.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is a great PhysX card!

Pros: This is a solid card to use as a dedicated PhysX GPU. I'm using it along with a GTX 260 Core 216 and can play Arkham City with DX9 maxed out settings and PhysX set to high. There is some minor slowdown at points and PhysX has to be turned off for one of the boss battles, but otherwise the game is completely playable on those settings.

In Unreal Tournament 3 with the PhysX mods it runs like a dream. All the particles moving and blowing around don't cause any slowdown whatsoever.

Overall, a great purchase if you need a dedicated PhysX GPU - especially since this card doesn't require extra power.

Cons: No real cons with this card. From the pictures on Newegg it looked slimmer than it actually is. Make no mistake, this card will take up two slots of space, even if it only uses one externally.

Other Thoughts: My review of this card only applies to using it for PhysX. I cannot comment on its graphics performance because I don't use it that way.

I run dual monitors, and tried moving my second monitor over to the HDMI port on the GT240 instead of using a DVI to HDMI adapter with my GTX260. While this worked for normal desktop use, it can't be used for more intense work. For example, I was unable to run Arkham City while watching videos at the same time. Definitely keep both of your monitors on the same card if you game, but otherwise that option is there.

5 out of 5 eggsFor 19.99??? Fantastic!

Pros: CHEAP! (Relatively) Powerful. This XFX GT 240 isn't by any means a powerful card by today's standards but it is still of the most powerful cards available that will run without a power supply upgrade. Fan is very quiet. Installation on Vista 32bit without a hitch and can now play Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age on medium settings on my ancient Gateway without a problem. Not bad for a system still sporting a Athlon X2 5000+! Finally I can't believe XFX is honoring my rebate, after all the rebate scams its a breath of fresh air.

Cons: It's unstable for some people? Honestly after reading the reviews I was a little scared but at the price of 19.99 after rebate I took the plunge. Stability is fine on my pathetic Vista system but the #of Newegg negative reviews may be disconcerting to potential buyers. Also this may be self evident but HTPC buyers should beware as this is a dual slot card. Also tax in NJ.... lame.

Other Thoughts: Overall this card was a steal at 19.99 with free shipping. At regular price with 6.98 shipping... not so much. Honestly at this time this card only makes sense for a small niche of people: those who are cheap and have an old system that they are trying to keep alive for ultra budget gaming for a little longer. If your not getting this at 19.99 then a radeon 5670/6670 is probably a better buy but for my purposes at 19.99 this card is awesome! Nvidia's and AMD's apparent lack of interest in this market segment (no external power required card) means this is still on of the best cards you can buy if you're not willing to upgrade your PSU. And yes I can affirm that if you correctly fill out the rebate's requirements then XFX should honor the rebate. Oh and Newegg shipping rocks!

1 out of 5 eggsPick another brand

Pros: Was inexpensive

Cons: Does not work. Ordered this on 11/27/11, received the card in a week. Tried using it in a new build, and the computer would reboot continuously when trying to load 64 bit Windows 7. Displayed the bios and installed windows fine, so it wasn't obvious this was the culprit at first. Eventually after testing all of the components (I multiple computers a year for myself friends and family, was building 3 others while building this one) I figured out this video card was the issue. I promptly contacted XFX support through their website, and then after multiple calls etc got them to issue me an RMA number. It is now 1/31/12. After testing my previous card they somehow found no issues, explaining in their response that they tested it on a couple Windows VISTA x64 systems. They sent me a different card anyway (or changed the serial sticker). This card also does not work. I have tested 7 other video cards from other manufacturers (this is actually the first, and probably the last XFX card I have

Other Thoughts: ever purchased) all other cards function in the exact same test setup where this XFX card fails. I even used a Sapphire 6850 to boot into Windows and install the latest Nvidia drivers for this XFX card, and when the 6850 was removed the computer once again continued its constant rebooting while trying to load Windows.

I highly recommend not purchasing this product, and would even go as far to recommend not purchasing an XFX card altogether. Otherwise you may end up in my situation, 2 months after purchase after having spent $12 to ship the card back already, ending up out the original cost of purchase and the cost to ship it back and still shopping for another card to use in its place.

TL;DR: Do not buy XFX.

5 out of 5 eggsGt 240 512mb 128bit ddr3

Pros: Very quiet. It has really improved performance over the radeon hd 4350 I had. No extra power connectors required. I have a small power supply (330 watts or less) and it has no problems whatsoever. Very happy all around. Was only $19.95 after rebate.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsXFX Quality?

Pros: The price was right but there is a reason for that. Dual Digital outputs are great, Free game is a nice touch. Not using the card for gaming so I can't speak to how powerful it is.

Cons: Card is a dud. Looks like this one totally missed the quality control people at XFX. I bought XFX because they have a good reputation but not on this card. This causes the graphics drivers in Win 7 X64 to crash and restart. It causes random screen flashes, tearing, and more. Tried 3 different drivers with no luck. The problems get worse the longer the system is on. Because I already cut the UPC off the box and sent it in for the Rebate, Newegg can't give me a refund, so I had to pay $8 to ship this card off to XFX. I requested an AMD card since it seems like this is a poor design with all of this model at XFX. XFX did not blink an eye so it sounds like they know there is a problem

Other Thoughts: Wait a week until you fill out a rebate encase you need to return it.

I can not recommend this to anyone. XFX has quality control issues on this model of card and are not actually fixing the problem on cards returned to them.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear that you had a problem. Please contact our support again if you need anything. Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsMy bad luck

Pros: The performance of the card should be a great deal for the price, especially if you are able to get a rebate. Also received 2 free games in the deal.

Cons: Doesn't work. Currently have a ticket in with XFX so the story isn't complete but I don't have very high hopes.

Other Thoughts: This is my first card from XFX and I had hesitations after many negative reviews about this card specifically and a lot of their cards seem to have pretty mediocre reviews overall. I'm pretty sure the card I have is junk but I'll wait and see what they have to say. I'm experiencing really bad texture glitching if I'm lucky enough to get a game started. Some start and then fail with a memory error. I've never had these problems with a video card before.
