5 out of 5 eggsNice speed bump from AMD HD 5450

Pros: I use Linux and FreeBSD almost exclusively, so I needed a good-performing and compatible video card to replace my older AMD and Nvidia cards.

This card is a very nice step up from the AMD HD 5450 I was using. The 5450 couldn't get out of its own way when running on FreeBSD and was just barely adequate on Linux. The 5450 would frequently reset, had reliability problems and so-on. I also tried an Nvidia GT-610 and it also was not a good fit performance and compatibility-wise. This HD 6670 works very well and hasn't had a hiccup yet.

This video card is being used in a system with an Intel Core i5-4590 and Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H motherboard. It fits fine on the Micro ATX board although it does use up two slots worth of space -- not a problem with my setup.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: If you aren't trying to do heavy-duty gaming and video editing, this video card is just fine. It's very quick, responsive and reliable and works very well with native Xorg drivers on Linux and FreeBSD.

As mentioned by other reviewers, the fan shroud is kind of silly, but that's okay...it's inside my case, no one can see it. ;-)

Thank you for the review, we really appreciate you taking the time to write it.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so good

Pros: Way simple to install, super quiet

Cons: fan unit may be a problem for some

Other Thoughts: So I needed to replace my GeForce 240 card which was overheating for some reason and cause my system to hang and the screen to go black, along with other error codes I was getting. I had Windows 7, and not knowing what the problem was I decided to go ahead and install W 10, thinking maybe my system would stabilize. The fact that I discovered there were compatibility problems with W 10 and some NVidia cards kept my on the wrong troubleshooting path for quite some time, but a lot of investigative research came to the conclusion it was my GPU card. I didn't want to spend a lot for the age of my system, which otherwise worked fine for my needs. I settled on this card and came here after seeing it ran about $30 cheaper than what it would've run my through Dell. I'm not a heavyweight gamer, (trying to go Xbox, after all) but I do have a few (Need For Speed, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed), and am old school enough that sometimes I just want to sit on top of my 22" monitor and play. So far I've just done the NFS, with all the settings maxed, and it looks great...but being as old as the game is and the capabilities of the card I'm not too surprised. I meant to check the power on my PSU when I had my tower open, but the card went in so quick (took me longer to open it up than anything...total time, 15 min., max) also no surprise. I believe I swapped the unit out for a 450w some time ago, but as the card needs no external power, as the GeForce 240 did, I'm not surprised at that as well. I had enough room for the double brackets so no worry there as well, no noise or anything. I'm just stoked to be able to run the simplest things on Windows 10, like the Microsoft Solitaire Games, or being able to put the computer to sleep without it hanging, going blank, or BSOD-ing on me. Good card for the money.

5 out of 5 eggsGood GPU on a budget

Pros: Easy to install, the fan is quiet unless you crank it up manually. Runs cool. Funky looking heat sink cover but looks cool none the less. No external power needed. Another great product for XFX plus I got a $20 rebate that I didn't know about at the time of purchase, definite PLUS!!!

Cons: OC'ing is limited, you can do it if you what to take the time, BUT just know that it is very LIMITED as far as options. Fan gets really loud above 65% power.

Other Thoughts: I am not a gamer and I don't think this card would really be up; a TRUE gamers ally. However for video editing, watching movies and my standard research projects this card performs fantastic.

5 out of 5 eggsGood For Dual Graphics

Pros: I like others use this with the new richland cpu's. If you do AMD says plug the hdmi in the one with the highest # which is the onboard . Reinstall the drivers with it plugged into the onboard HDMI. After this the thing works alot better. If running 2 monitors it really shines! I'm using the new 13.8 beta drivers (8/1/2013)

Cons: I bought it somewhere else!

Other Thoughts: The whole hybrid. dual graphics is excellent for my needs. A movie freak that rips all Blurays to my home server. It makes a more Economical solution to the HTPC Market. Which i totally Love Thanks AMD for thinking of us people that can't or won't do apple or intel....

Manufacturer Response:

We're glad its working great for you. We appreciate the positive review. As always, if you have any questions, please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com. Play Hard!

4 out of 5 eggsA great card for the money

Pros: Nice packaging. Good instructions. Has a DVI to VGA adapter included. Also has a display port built-in. This is a really good adapter for multiple monitor setups. No significant power needs for this adapter and it does not require separate PCI-E power cable. Lifetime warranty.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: At some point I expect to try this adapter in a PCI-E 3.0 slot to check out its performance, but I was really surprised at how Windows Experience Index went from 3.2 to 5.9 on a Vista x64 older Gateway PC with a Core2 CPU and 6GB of RAM. The graphics really snap and have no perceptible lag on a 2-5ms response monitor. Make sure to reboot twice after installation to re-route video from the motherboard to the adapter if the motherboard does not include a force PCI-E graphics option.

5 out of 5 eggsAPU's best friend

Pros: Excellent in combination with the AMD APU. This card will turn your APU based system into a decent gaming rig for very little money.

On-board display port.

Cons: Crazy cover thing on the fan is a little ridiculous.

Other Thoughts: Buy it.

1 out of 5 eggsMisleading

Pros: I guess the card works okay. Bought it to replace a failing GeForce 7600 GT.

Cons: Bought this with a promo and newegg can't get their head out of their rears.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, We're sorry you are dissapointed with your purchase. Please let us help you resolve any issues you are having. You stated it works "okay," but you rated it 1 egg, what is wrong? You may contact me directly at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com and i would be happy to help you.

4 out of 5 eggsdecent card

Pros: well i got this card to do the a10 crossfire and dont get me wrong after finding the right drivers i got it working and it didnt have any problems doing so either.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: after a while i can say this card runs games at high settings just fine for the most part, not crysis though. but if your looking to do the hybrid crossfire save your money and just get a bigger card. if your doing a low budget build it can be a great card on its own

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly so far.

Pros: Fast.
No need of a power plug.
Nice big heat sink.
Fairly quiet.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I found, after buying it, that it is a bit slower than the 5770 low profile card I just gave away. My fault for not doing better research.
