5 out of 5 eggsBest GFX Card I've had

Pros: -Great cooling, the two fans dissapate so much heat, and shoot it out the rear. I don't have any A/C this summer, so it can get hot in my room, but this bad boy powers through it all and delivers the graphics!
-Quiet, for having 2 fans its not very loud. I've seen others complain about this, however, I don't find that to be an issue at all!
-Delivers great graphics in any game you play. I'm an avid gamer, and I haven't played a game yet that this card couldn't handle
-Good value for the price
-Haven't had a single issue!

Cons: -Does take up 2 card slots....However, with the graphics it puts out, you really don't need to Cross Fire
-None!

Other Thoughts: Research to make sure this is the right card for you. Personally, I've gained a great amount of trust in XFX from all the products I've bought from them. I'm moving towards exclusively buying XFX products from now on. I've had great customer support from them. I even have a new XFX PSU coming tomorrow, can't wait for it. XFX has made a solid product with this card!

2 out of 5 eggsgood preformence, bad everything else

Pros: It does great in BF3,Borderlands 2,and almost any game at high settings

Cons: after 50% fan speed i can hear it over my game and people on skype/teamspeak.The card is also very hot at 50% fan in bf3 it gets up to 90C,that is also with the side panel off all the time.I will be getting a refund for it,hopefully it won't burn up before then.

Other Thoughts: If you are playing minecraft this card is too powerful,if you play bf3 there is a likely chance the fans will annoy the **** out of you.I do not recommend this card, get and asus, sapphire, gigabyte just not this card
i7-2600k
16gb corsair vengeance OC 1866
Corsair 120gb ssd
500gb WD hard drive

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Devil, it sounds like the fan is having an obstruction with the shroud. The temperatures indicate this. Have you inspected the fan to see if anything is interfereing with it? perhaps its scraping when at 50% speed? a simple shroud inspection could resolve this issue. please contact me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com.

2 out of 5 eggsLost faith in XFX

Pros: This card is seriously powerful. It's one of the fastest cards for $300 period. It's hard to compete with the performance for the price.

Cons: Getting that kind of performance comes at a price; reliability. I've owned several XFX cards and I've never had a problem, hence why I keep returning to them. This is my last XFX card. I've been having nothing but problems (literally blue screens every game) and it's only getting worse. XFX will not respond to my open ticket, so luckily the company I purchased the card from (sorry Newegg) is accepting a return for full refund.

Other Thoughts: I confirmed it was the card by switching it out with my XFX 6870. Every game ran perfect with no BSOD. Granted the frame rates dropped a bit, everything worked perfectly. I've been building computers since the Rage 128/CVoodooFX days and this is the first serious problem I've had with a card.

My build:
i7-3770K @ 4.5Ghz
16GB GSkill PC1600
Plextor 256GB SSD (SATA3)
2 WD Black 1TB HDD (Raid0)

Other goodies of course, but this stuff is what matters for the review at hand.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Gijoe, Our ticket system is within 24 hours now and we should have responded to your issue. We're sorry we didnt get in contact with your sooner. Okay, If you have any questions, feel free to contact us and let us know. Thank you

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Been using this card from a year, been working great in the first part of that time. It didn't give me any problems while gaming, nor did the drivers.

It handles all the games I play very good, I haven't used the HDMI 5.1 audio as I don't need it.

Cons: The major issue is the fact that the card over heat, I don't have any thing in the front of the graphics card, so air can still get to it. But I been fighting it heat issue for a while now.

Also one of the fans started to make noise, I don't know which one it is, but I hear it when ever I play a game. I just wish they did a better job with the design of the cooler, and used better quality fans.

3 out of 5 eggsFan problem - support ticket filed

Pros: It worked well while the fan lasted.
Rebate made the price competitive.

Cons: Both fans failed after about 10 months of use.

Other Thoughts: I filed a ticket to find out how I can go about having the card fixed today. I will update how the ticket gets resolved and how timely the process is. I have heard bad things about XFX support here, but I hope they have got their acts together by now.

4 out of 5 eggsNot for me

Pros: Fantastic looking card, the craftsmanship and brushed aluminum are stunning.
Felt extremely solid/sturdy.
Lifetime warranty with registration.
Great gaming card you can get up to GHz Edition speed.

Cons: The DD cooler didn't cut the mustard for me, it was terribly loud. I would probably even say it was as loud as the reference blower on my EVGA GTX670 4GB card under full load, with auto fan settings.

Voltage locked.

Not a good card for high overclock. I got it to just under 1100 stable in Furmark. For BTC mining I managed 1050 core; where I was barely making 500 M/hash

Other Thoughts: I'm only docking one egg because this card could be great for many people.

You can safely take this card up to GHz Edition core clock and be happy; just don't expect 1100+MHz core clocks, it won't happen with this card due to voltage limitations.

I did not attempt memory overclock since BTC doesn't need it.

I believe with a custom fan profile this card would be great for gaming. Once you push the core clock expect it to get noisy.

Maybe cracking it open and applying some great thermal paste would help keep the noise at bay.

I prefer Gelid GC Extreme or Xigmatek PTI-G4512. Both of these pastes have no curing time, instant gratification; and they both perform exceptionally. The GC Extreme is also recommended by EK in their waterblock installation instructions.

The look/feel is stunning, especially compared to the DOA Sapphire 7970 Boost I am RMAing. The Sapphire looked/felt like a cheap toy compared to this beauty.

1 out of 5 eggsMy GPU seems to have vanished

Pros: My card worked great, while it worked. XFX tends to offer cards at slightly higher performance than others for a good price.

Cons: XFX support has tanked, as has their quality apparently. Even on their $1k cards, people are complaining about cards showing up with their anti-static bags unsealed. I originally bought XFX because they used to have the best support and warranties in the business.

After a couple months, my card started overheating badly under normal conditions. After some back and forth I finally got an RMA approved and sent the card in. A week or two later, they changed their whole support site. The XFX support site is now unuseable. It lost track of all of my help tickets, lost a product registration, and I can't look up the status of my RMA. They've had my card for over two months now. Fortunately I have another I can at least run on, but my performance has sufferred severely. I can't get a hold of anyone through the support site, and finally managed to get a hold of one of their support guys 2.5 weeks ago by e-mail. He assured me they would be shipping my card out at the beginning of the next week, I'm still waiting. Shot another e-mail again, and still haven't heard back. Don't know when/if I'll ever get my GPU back.

Other Thoughts: XFX Support = Terrible, it used to be good, but not anymore.

Will be buying another brand for my next card. I'll gladly take a tiny drop in performance for the knowledge that the manufacturer will back their product, and there are others who will. XFX just isn't worth it these days.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Alex, yes we recently revamped our support site to expedite our Manufacturing process. Sorry if you were delayed, but we are back at 100% to fully capable of servigin all of our customers like before. Please contact me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com. Thank you

2 out of 5 eggsShutsdown system at 40C

Pros: 3GB GDDR5
Will work if the GPU doesn't hit 40C
For a month it would go up to 55C then shutdown.

Cons: This thing never worked right straight from the box it would crash my games because of some driver error but I fixed that after a week.
Locked voltages, I planned to overclock this card originally but it seems they locked the voltages and set it so would shutdown your PC once it hits 40C, clearly XFX doesn't want people to overclock.
Even at 100% speeds the system shutsdown because it thinks it's overheating.

Other Thoughts: I will update my review if XFX will allow me to exchange this card for one works.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty card, XFX terrible support

Pros: The card worked well for about a month. Good temperatures, good framerates, seemed like a great buy.

Cons: After a month the card is absolute garbage. Whenever it's under heavy load, I get an error that states "Your AMD driver has stopped responding" leading to a closing of anything I have running at the time.

My clocks are then locked to 500 Mhz (Core) and 150 Mhz (Memory). Error logs state that these are LivekernalEvents and I recieve BBC code 117 and 141. I've tried every possible attempt to rectify this and it all leads to this video card being faulty.

Now all of this wouldn't be a problem if XFX would answer their support tickets in a timely manner and get me on my way to an RMA. This is not the case at all. I gave them all necessary information in my ticket and two weeks later I am told to uninstall and reinstall my drivers. I responded by telling them I have done this and I did it again to no avail (even though in my original ticket I mentioned I had done what they just asked me to do).

The card is faulty, the support is terrible/abysmal, and I am out $330. Never buying from XFX again.
