1 out of 5 eggsMy GPU seems to have vanished

Pros: My card worked great, while it worked. XFX tends to offer cards at slightly higher performance than others for a good price.

Cons: XFX support has tanked, as has their quality apparently. Even on their $1k cards, people are complaining about cards showing up with their anti-static bags unsealed. I originally bought XFX because they used to have the best support and warranties in the business.

After a couple months, my card started overheating badly under normal conditions. After some back and forth I finally got an RMA approved and sent the card in. A week or two later, they changed their whole support site. The XFX support site is now unuseable. It lost track of all of my help tickets, lost a product registration, and I can't look up the status of my RMA. They've had my card for over two months now. Fortunately I have another I can at least run on, but my performance has sufferred severely. I can't get a hold of anyone through the support site, and finally managed to get a hold of one of their support guys 2.5 weeks ago by e-mail. He assured me they would be shipping my card out at the beginning of the next week, I'm still waiting. Shot another e-mail again, and still haven't heard back. Don't know when/if I'll ever get my GPU back.

Other Thoughts: XFX Support = Terrible, it used to be good, but not anymore.

Will be buying another brand for my next card. I'll gladly take a tiny drop in performance for the knowledge that the manufacturer will back their product, and there are others who will. XFX just isn't worth it these days.

2 out of 5 eggsShutsdown system at 40C

Pros: 3GB GDDR5
Will work if the GPU doesn't hit 40C
For a month it would go up to 55C then shutdown.

Cons: This thing never worked right straight from the box it would crash my games because of some driver error but I fixed that after a week.
Locked voltages, I planned to overclock this card originally but it seems they locked the voltages and set it so would shutdown your PC once it hits 40C, clearly XFX doesn't want people to overclock.
Even at 100% speeds the system shutsdown because it thinks it's overheating.

Other Thoughts: I will update my review if XFX will allow me to exchange this card for one works.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty card, XFX terrible support

Pros: The card worked well for about a month. Good temperatures, good framerates, seemed like a great buy.

Cons: After a month the card is absolute garbage. Whenever it's under heavy load, I get an error that states "Your AMD driver has stopped responding" leading to a closing of anything I have running at the time.

My clocks are then locked to 500 Mhz (Core) and 150 Mhz (Memory). Error logs state that these are LivekernalEvents and I recieve BBC code 117 and 141. I've tried every possible attempt to rectify this and it all leads to this video card being faulty.

Now all of this wouldn't be a problem if XFX would answer their support tickets in a timely manner and get me on my way to an RMA. This is not the case at all. I gave them all necessary information in my ticket and two weeks later I am told to uninstall and reinstall my drivers. I responded by telling them I have done this and I did it again to no avail (even though in my original ticket I mentioned I had done what they just asked me to do).

The card is faulty, the support is terrible/abysmal, and I am out $330. Never buying from XFX again.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally got it working

Pros: I got this card and was truly pleased with it. Played Crysis on very high without any issues.
I will mentioned that I had this card initially connected to my 27' monitor via hdmi. I then noticed that my computer started to crash; windows 7 would change colors and also lock up or I would get the Blue Screen Of Death and Black Screen Of Death.
Immediately I started testing memory, hard drive, cooling, flashing my motherboard bios to the latest one and couldn't find any issues with any other component. My conclusion was that the card was faulty.
I unplug the hdmi cable and connected via DVI after a reset of my bios. Windows started with no issues. Played Crysis without a hiccup and then decided to test the hdmi on a different monitor. I unplugged the DVI cable, and also configured my GSkill Ripjaw memory to run in xmp profile (which I am accustom to doing but the bios had changed that setting when I flashed it). I started the system up and the crash started, I couldn't even get into windows. So now I am convinced that the card is faulty and it's the hdmi that's messed up.
Then I had a thought: what if a setting in the bios was messing with the card? This was an odd question as everything worked perfectly well with the current settings and through the DVI, the hdmi was the only thing different. So I went back to the bios and auto reset then restarted my computer and went back into the bios to see what the configuration would look like (I have an Asus Z68 MB & a 3770k @ default). The bios had set the memory speed to 2060 instead of the xmp 2133 and overclock the cpu in the process to 4.4 GHZ. I was a little puzzled at this but decided to see what would happen. This setting did work with the hdmi for about 3 hours but then the system crashed.
I went and did some research on xmp causing system crashes and found that you should set the bios to xmp and ensure that VCCIO was manually set to 1.10v if you system uses 2 sticks of high performance memory (like my system had) and 1.15v if you have 4 sticks.

Cons: None for the card. Plenty for EA & UPS. Anyhow I did as was instructed, connect the hdmi cable and then started my system up. This time the system went straight into windows. I then started to run some programs that would have crashed the minute I entered windows, but there was no crash. Everything seemed to be working. I then went ahead and did a bunch of online stuff amongst others things on the computer for a few hours but still no crash. I went and played Crysis and had no issue whatsoever. I then left the computer running a graphic test for the entire night. In the morning the system was working with the test just the same; and I have not had a crash since then.
What is even stranger to me is that the DVI connection worked the VCCIO set to auto but required the change for hdmi.
I conclude the card wasn't faulty at all but as mentioned, realized that the bios configuration is going to really affect how this card behaves. So if you are having issues with your card as I was experiencing or even something similar, then you might want to give my solution a try.

Other Thoughts: This card runs cool @ default speeds and is relatively quiet even when the fans are at 45%; but higher than that and you really start noticing the sound.
I did do a small overclock from core clock 900 to 1000 and memory clock 1250 to 1400 and up the voltage in catalyst control center to 10% and played Crysis 3 with greater fps and had no issues.
While playing Crysis 3 my load temps were in the 70's C while my room was 77'F which is still safe for this card. So when it is liquid cooled I hope to overclock.
My card came without an attachment but Newegg has assured me that they have sent it out so I will see how that goes.
I really like the technology of this card and see much greater potential in overclocking/performance when compared to my previous 5970.
Oh the rebates do sweeten the deal for me.
Great job as always Newegg, keep up the good work. Now if only UPS and EA could follow your example.

2 out of 5 eggsFaulty graphics card

Pros: The graphics card is a real beast. It runs a lot of things under heavy load with ease.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I believe I received a fault card as the screen keeps flashing different colors here and there. I've tried to reinstall my motherboard bios, reinstall all my drivers and the problem still occurred. While I'm gaming its pretty annoying but when I'm idle it isn't as bad.

Ever since then I removed my XFX7950 and started using my XFX6850 again and the problem has stopped so I'm guessing the 7950 is the problem. I removed the serial number label in hopes of using it for mail-in rebate but that didn't work so Newegg can't RMA it.

The XFX support website is poorly done to the point where I can't choose to RMA anything when there are pages to tell you to go to a certain area of the website, but that didn't help at all. I couldn't create any queries or tickets or start up an RMA. The broken English on the website makes it even more horrible to go through.

I love XFX and their graphics cards, but under times like these having a good support website would be even better.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsSome have 2 DVI Outputs

Pros: Reasonable cost, high performance.

Cons: At little-to-no fault of the card itself, I received one with 2 DVI outputs.

Other Thoughts: Normally, getting a surprise 2nd DVI output would be a good thing. I was hoping to change to an aftermarket cooler, but the 2nd port makes it incompatible with most standard coolers designed for reference cards. If you aren't worried about aftermarket cooling, then maybe you'll get lucky and get one with a 2nd DVI output.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fairly well for mining.

Pros: Works fairly well for digital currency mining.

Cons: Runs a little warmer than other 7950's that I use in my mining rigs.

Other Thoughts: I push this card at around 550Gh/s for BTC mining. It runs a very warmer than some other 7950's I currently use.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very nice upgrade from my HD 5770. Games run fine maxed out

Cons: Sometimes the fan likes to nick the heat sink cover. It also gets extremely hot if you're overclocking.

5 out of 5 eggsEggxcelent Card

Pros: Surprisingly good cooling, only reaching mid 40's when overclocked.

Runs things great as a single card and scales well when cross-fired.

Reference design for easy water cooling.

Cons: Only 1 DVI port, but that's not XFX's fault.

Other Thoughts: Great card for watercooling I would highly reccomend for the midrange computer.
