2 out of 5 eggsOverheats

Pros: Excellent performance. Benchmarks were slightly higher than other cards I own of the same family. I've grown to expect that of XFX.

Also, I really want to remark on how sleek and appealing this card is. I have to give this card an A+ for looks. It's very attractive and will compliment almost any case. I'm also a huge fan of the metal heatsink rather than the typical plastic.

Cons: The fan does not exhaust heat. It circulates it within the case, with some hot air only incidentally exhausting. This results in ridiculous temperatures. I have to underclock it just to keep it under 85c with the fan maxed. I've had this card auto-cutoff on me several times barely exceeding 100c. I've never seen anything quite this bad before with a stock-clocked card.

Their new "ghost thermal technology" is truly a nightmare. This card will not even function if you have a machine that lays on its side. The card must be in a computer that stands upright for this new thermal technology to be effective. And I'm doing XFX a favor by even using the word "effective".

I've had to go above and beyond to keep this card cooled. I suppose I'm disappointed about that. If you're going to be using this card for any reasonably demanding application, prepare to give it plenty of ventilation, a fan blowing on it directly to stir the air around it (maybe a pci fan), and underclock it.

Also, the PCB is bent and warped if you look really carefully from the side. When it was bound onto the heatsink, the points on the heatsink were not level, resulting in a bent card. This doesn't result in any performance reduction, it's just unsightly and looks like an amateur designed the heatsink.

Other Thoughts: My room temperature is 74f. The card has plenty of ventilation and space around it. I installed a 120mm fan blowing directly on the card from the side. There is nothing apparently wrong with the GPU fan, which is usually running at 100%. I've had to underclock to about 600MHz to prevent the card from overheating/crashing. This seriously reduced performance.

My usual intensive applications are OpenCL projects and video games.

If you want this card, go for the dual-fan model.

1 out of 5 eggsLoud, hot, unstable with even moderate overclocking

Pros: Card is fast with stock settings.

Cons: I bought a Sapphire 7950 (for $10 less) at the same time and ran them with same load and config settings. At a mid-to-high load the Sapphire was 72C with fans at 2500RPM while this card was 84C with fans at 4700 RPM, which makes it incredibly loud. The Sapphire also handled much more aggressive overclocking whereas this one would reboot before it got close.

The other card has a much bigger heatsink, four copper heat pipes and two fans while this one has a stubby heatsink and only one fan so I'm not surprised it runs cooler - I am surprised how much cooler, though and I don't know why this card actually costs more.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if I got a defective card or it's a bad design but either way it's going back in favor of something with a better cooling system.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat card unless its DOA

Pros: the card overclocks incredibly well. I have two im running in crossfire liquid cooled. great frame rates

Cons: when i ordered each of my two cards both shipped doa and had to rma the first one and im about to rma the 2nd when newegg opens tomoro. bit frustrating, this card if you get a good chip and not a dud is amazing but if you do get a dud it will iether cause a strobe effect on the screen or wont overclock period.

Other Thoughts: would have given 5eggs, but two rma in a row was too much

2 out of 5 eggsSo far, terrible RMA process

Pros: Video card was nice...while it lasted. Something happened with the PCI-E power connections that made it fuse out permanently. I tested with three different 750W power supplies (all at least 80 plus certified) known to be working. It worked with one until the fuse out problem made it non-functional. I also liked the fact that the free game voucher for 3 games came with it. Everything ran on high settings.

Cons: Returned for RMA. First, the customer support I've been getting is slow at best. Second, the support site isn't very well translated from Chinese. Third, the instructions they give for the RMA are terrible. If I didn't spend time looking them up myself, it never would've been sent back (they gave me installation instructions for some reason). Customer support said it'd be 2-3 weeks for an RMA because my card would be in "testing." Over 3 weeks have currently passed and I don't even have an answer. They have no phone you can call them at, so I'm at the mercy of their sub-par RMA ticket system online.

Other Thoughts: This card is BIG, and when I mean big, I mean it almost spans the length of my entire motherboard. I've have big heavy-duty cards (at the time of purchase) before, but this one takes the cake.

XFX seems like a new company. If they want to stay in business, they can't expect to get away with treating customers like this, especially this one that's never buying anything from XFX again.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we are aware of the translation issues on the website, unfortunately they are considered "low priority." Fortunately we speak great english and can be reached at 800 880 3225, from 9 am PST to 5pm PST. (omit 12-1pm for lunch). Okay, If you have any questions, feel free to contact us and let us know. Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsHow might I get a replacement?

Pros: Worked beautifully and ran every game on max settings
Still worked with my outdated MOBO/ Processor
Very low profile, ran quiet
Runs very cool, even on maximum settings even with high demanding games

Cons: HUGE card. Almost didn't fit in my case
Died literally three days into use

Other Thoughts: I only had this thing for about three days and it totally died. I put my old GPU in, and sure enough it works just as well as it did before.
How might I be able to get a replacement for this thing? I haven't even had it over a week and it died on me. I love AMD/ Radeon, but I an immensely disappointed in what has happened.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, At this time our support systems are all but caught up. If you havent been taken care of, please email me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com and I will be happy to help you. Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Experience with Video Cards

Pros: When the card worked for short bursts of time it seemed capable.

Cons: I bought the card and had to RMA it because the card would just quit outputting video. I verified this is multiple different PCs. The RMA process took over a month due to slow response time on support ticket. The card they sent back didn't work. It output vertical lines through the screens. Again I tested on multiple different PCs. It's now been another month and they still trying to get an RMA worked out. They had an issue with their support site and somehow my "account" got deleted so I had to make another one. I have no confidence in their ability to get this resolved. This has by far been the worst video card experience out of the many I've bought and used.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, If you haven't received your replacement, please contact me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com. You mentioned that your account somehow got deleted? I assure you, we have all existing accounts on our previous system still and have migrated the data and stored copies for future reference. Thank you for your patience

5 out of 5 eggsGood card for the $$

Pros: Works great!!!!!
In its price range this card is king. (few days out for crossfire for me)
Make sure to get the latest drivers before installing this card to save time/frustration.

Cons: Had a bit of an issue but the latest drivers fixed the issue. Always get the latest drivers before installing. My fault for not doing this so I'm not going to take any eggs off.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Gaming Video Card

Pros: I love this card it absolutely screams. I have thrown every game that I own at it and it just devours them. I ran BF3 on the highest settings with no issues then I ran Crysis3 on Ultra also no issues, I did notice a slightly high temp of the GPU 70-80 degrees C so I decided to run MSI After Burner and I turned the fan upto full throttle it is a little noisy but with headphones on it goes away. With After Burner running the fan at full speed I did see the temp come down to a more comfortable level between 60 and 70C. I do have a somewhat restricted airflow issue with my mid tower case I am hoping to remedy that with my new Revo case from thermal take that I recently ordered. I can not find any reason to complain about this card I just hope it lasts me a good long while. This card replaced 2 tired ATI 5670's in my windows assesment the rating for them was 6.9 now with only one card and no Crossfire I have a rating of 8.0 for my video performance.

Cons: This thing is Huge it barely fit into my somewhat cramped mid tower case also it covers 2 slots so I lost one of the two PCI-E 1X slots on my MOBO. I will try and post pictures if I can here on newegg of the card in my current case and then after I move every thing to my new armor Revo by thermal take after I get it.
