3 out of 5 eggsA beast that runs way too hot

Pros: - total beast of a card even at stock clocks
- came with 2 games that were released soon after i bought it
- very long warranty, 5 years i believe
- AMD (you cant go wrong, the drivers are much better now and I like it more than my old 560ti)
- I read another review that had a manufacturer response saying that you can put aftermarket coolers on these and it wont void the warranty for north american customers!

Cons: - loud as hell, and its sitting beside my desk on the ground and i use headphones
- runs WAYYY too hot, like I remember looking up the maximum temps for the core and its around 95ish degrees celcius. It just hit 90c in sleeping dogs not too long ago so I'm a little worried that its defective...
- this is only one year after having it, maybe i should take a spray can to it

Other Thoughts: its discontinued on newegg... really neat card though, it would look good in crossfire if it werent for the cooling on it comes with a crossfire cable and a Do not disturb, im gaming door handle thingy

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Matt, Are you having any issues other than a noisy fan? We would be happy to help resolve your issue, please contact us if yo u are still experiencing any issues. Play Hard!

1 out of 5 eggsVoltage is Hardware Locked

Pros: Stock speed for the price.

Cons: This is a great card and all for its price. Although compared to its competitors. One HUGE set back for those that want the most out of their money with overclocking. Is that XFX has decided to hardware lock the voltage on this card. This card has a lot of potential. Maybe less, since it has only one fan in comparison to the 'Black Edition'. I have done my research and the 7950 can reach a core clock of 1200 MHz and memory clock of 1700 MHz. I am not satisfied with the card at all because of the locked v-core. I am pretty much stuck with low OC settings and It is too late to return it. Every method possible has been attempted to control the v-core in my research.

-Voltage is hardware locked
-Limited Overclock potentials
-One fan

Other Thoughts: Why are all these graphics card manufactures hardware locking the voltage? Why? I will never buy from XFX or anyone that decides to do this to their cards. Disappointed.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Maxwell,

We're sorry you are dissapointed by the overclocking potential of this card. Please understand that we are aware of the overclocking potential of this card, a standard overclock will give it ~10% increase without blatently ruining the longevity or lifespan of the card. The type of overclock you are talking about isnt rated for this card, it's quite literally dangerous. I want you to know that XFX stands behind this card 100%, and we want you to be happy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at

4 out of 5 eggsRuns hot.

Pros: 3GB of ram

Cons: Runs hot under load. 80c when gaming. Fans ramp up and are very loud.

Other Thoughts: If you want a quiet PC this is not the card for you.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, This card shuoldn't be so loud that it becomes an issue for you. Have you inspected the fans to see if anything is obstructing the blades? If it gets worse, please contact us at

4 out of 5 eggsHeat issues

Pros: Really good card

Cons: Temperature goes up very high at times to the point where the card smells hot and you can smell it outside the case.

Heard that can be corrected by reapplying the heat paste, but who wants to void their warranty?

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Duvaren,

I want to help you resolved this issue, please contact me at (what temperatures are you receiving? does the fan spin freely?)

XFX Warranty void stickers do not apply in NORTH AMERICA. You are welcome remove the screws and modify the cooling solution without voiding your warranty.

3 out of 5 eggsGot a non-working card

Pros: Looks sleek and runs well when it is functional. Performance is so close to a 7970 that it's hard to tell the difference in games.

Cons: Card started having major artifacting after just one gaming session with it. I was forced to switch to my back up GPU to get back into windows without the screen turning into a menagerie of pixels.

Hopefully my ticket will get answered soon on getting it RMAed. (Ticket number T1311140043 if someone is looking).

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, I am working on your ticket now. If you have any further questions, please use the ticket or email me at Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsCard works Great but

Pros: Card works great BF4 playing very smoothly but the software downloading was a pain! I wish AMD would get their act together on their software. Not very user friendly!

Only 4 stars because of AMDs software.

Cons: Software Lame-difficult to download.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Bill, Please go directly to for drivers. The top right corner has a support "Drop-Down" Menu that simply lets you pick your Operating system, which leads you to your drivers. If you have any issues after that, make sure your anti-virus is disabled during install. If you have any other issues, please contact us at

Play Hard!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card! Recommended!

Pros: - All games I have run at Ultra with this beast!
- Great cooling, people underestimate the Ghost Technology
- Sturdy
- Easy to install and get drivers
- 4 Games made it so worth

Cons: - Big so make sure you have room! I fit mine in my Thermaltake Commander Mid-Tower case no problem.
- Don't pick u-play games unless you really want them, my code was invalid when I redeemed it. Had to submit a ticket for review.

Other Thoughts: You can use the drivers from the disk because they check online for updates before installing, but I recommend getting the beta for CCC because it doesn't have the black bars bug in it.

Manufacturer Response:
