5 out of 5 eggsAmazingly Powerful

Pros: This card is amazing! I'm running it with an i7-3930K and 32GB DDR3 RAM and it'll run anything I can throw at it. I've had no problems with it as far as it malfunctioning or just not working. It looks nice and (ironically) even the colours match those of my motherboard and RAM DIMMs (black/red). I really want to buy a second one to CrossFire these beasts! Kudos go to ATI/AMD once again!!

Cons: The only problems I've run into with this GPU are it tends to run hot, regardless of how graphically-demanding the game is; unless I turn up the fan speed. However, once I do that I run into the issue that it sounds like a 747 ready for take-off. I plan on buying an Arctic cooler to replace the stock fan and heatsync, which I'm hoping will solve the heat and noise issues. Other than the noise and heat I've had no problems with the XFX HD7970 Black Edition.

Other Thoughts: This GPU is definitely worth buying! This thing is a total beast and I couldn't be more pleased with it. If you're thinking about getting one, stop thinking and start buying! You won't regret it!

5 out of 5 eggsLove this card!

Pros: Can play every single game I own with ease. This card is a beast, wish I had the funds to buy 2 at the time.

Cons: No cons for me as I've had no problems with the card since I bought it.

Other Thoughts: Fan is a bit more noticeable now that I upgraded from a mechanical hard drive to an SSD, but nothing too loud to me.

5 out of 5 eggsEpic Card

Pros: Eats everything I throw at it.

VERY close to the stock refrence design (I've herd that some of the other models with the double disapation had issues, this is REALLY close to reference other than the slight over clock. Definity less chances of problems with the fan(s) because of that in my book)

Slight overclock (it helps, and it's not stock. + it's easyer on the people who don't want to risk frying their card(s) or don't know how to over clock.)

3 GB of GDDR5

Cons: Drivers have a bit of problems. the last Stable version for me I beleave was 12.4

every card has issues with drivers when they are new. AMD/Nvidea/etc. It's to be expected for being an early adopter.

this varrent of this card is now discontinued. T_T

It's HUGE (but to be expected)

Other Thoughts: I bought this card when it 1st came out, and I gotta say I love it. I don't plan on upgrading for another 3+ years, and for my setup, with everything on max I have PLENTLY of room for more demanding games.

deffinitey was worth the money in my mind

5 out of 5 eggsGreat 7970 for the price point.

Pros: Got it for $410 with a coupon I had free ship
OC to 1200core/1600 mem destroying the GTX 680

Cons: Fan is loud, but not a big deal to me because I wear headphones.

Other Thoughts: Putting the Arctic 7970 cooler on it next month so no more noise/heat issue.

4 out of 5 eggsAddendum to review on 4-18

Pros: Pros: Runs games that work great. Good performance.

Cons: Cons: Cannot run Skyrim (but I'm starting to see this is a Skyrim issue and not necessarily a GPU issue).

Other Thoughts: Just want to addendum my review slightly. These cards are not bad. Just ATI drivers were in their child state and were not stable or very good. Multiple updates have helped with the overall performance and stability of these cards. They are good cards, but not a 5 star because I still have issues with a few games. The drivers have also seemed to help the heat and fan speed problems. Overall they have been much better cards than when I first purchased them.

5 out of 5 eggsLooks Amazing. Runs like a boss.

Pros: Runs BF3, Deus Ex, Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, and Max Payne 3 on ULTRA with 50-60 FPS @ 1080p.

>Beast of a graphics card.

>Looks like a champ.

>Runs really cool with a fanspeed higher than 30%
[20-30C] on idle.

Fanspeed info
*/ I run it at 40% and at idle it NEVER gets hotter than 30C

*/ I run my games at 60-70% and never gets hotter than 50C

*/ After several hours of beastily graphics and smooth gameplay, it takes several hours at 40% fanspeed to get lower than 40C (it may be because of my case)

I highly recommend getting it even though it does take up A LOT of SPACE!
I can honestly say it was worth every penny.

Cons: Doesn't get me a glass of milk. :(

Other Thoughts: > The drivers are being updated like monthly. Keep up to date!

>Some people are having temp problems and that may be because they are not using manual fan control. Believe me, the non-manual setting sets it to like 10-20% fanspeed and it IDLES at 60-70C!

3 out of 5 eggsNice when it works...

Pros: Looks amazing in my Magnum M8. The card runs very well with all of the new games and then some... Until...

Cons: The beast gets hot; it gets hot quick. With no overclock; it gets to ~70°C in minutes then artifacts appear everywhere.

I've tried contacting XFX support; all to no avail... Looks like I may be out of $600...

Other Thoughts: My rig:
Asus Z77 Sabertooth
Intel Core i7 3770k
Corsair H100 Closed Loop
16 GB Corsair Vengeance 12800
60GB OCZ Agility 3 (Boot)
1.5TB Seagate Barracuda (Storage)
XFX Radeon R7970 Black Edition
CaseLabs Magnum M8 Case

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card, Great OCing

Pros: Don't believe the GTX 680 hype, this baby matches up and beats it in most cases especially when overclocked even higher. It's stable running CCC Max, and I haven't even played with the voltage. Direct Compute and more memory make this card top dog.

Cons: It doesn't cook me dinner?

Other Thoughts: i7 2700k @ 4.9ghz (air)
gigabyte GEN3
16 GB Gskill DDR3
Radeon 7970 @ CCC Max (air)
Rosewill 1000W PSU
Thermaltake v9
Lite on bluray burner
4 TB HDD space
