5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Great for playing Kerbal Space Program. This card has held it own with every game I've thrown at it (think any good game released 2012-2013. First one lasted a month and XFX replaced with a NEW card. Ive even had a failed 6970 they replaced with a NEW card no hassle. Although I do wonder how much new inventory they have. May start seeing them "refurbs" if this one fails.

Cons: Doesn't calculate the needed Delta-V for my rockets.

Other Thoughts: My first XFX card was an 8600GT, second was an 8800GS (failed from CRYSIS and they replaced with a 8800GT!), then I bought an XFX GTS 250, > XFX 6950 (unlocked shaders to 6970 with bios flash) another 6970 for crossfire, and now just a single XFX 7970. I have NEVER had a problem getting replacement fans, heatsinks, or even a full replacement card from this company. XFX for life.
Plays well with my P9x79ws and the i7 3820 (only $500 for both used! e3ay all the way!)

2 out of 5 eggsUnhappy Gamer

Pros: While working in cross-fire I enjoy the rich graphic features of playing my games in high-ultra settings with triple monitors...

Cons: I would first like to say I am very dissatisfied with your product (XFX) because this will be the forth RMA in just one year of my original purchases. My video card just stop working while I was in the middle of playing Titanfall. I reboot my PC, all I got was 1Long follow by 3short beeps from my motherboard. Also I saw an error code from the onboard diagnostic LED’s - code 94, with is from an ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z. At this point I prefer that my video card be replace with an NVIDIA reference designed card like GTX 770/780.

Manufacturer Response:

We are truly sorry you have had so many issues with the 7970. At this point typically we asking customers to consider that perhaps more than the graphics card may be to blame.

At any rate, we want you to be happy and we would like resolve this issue and replace it under warranty.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat out of the box

Pros: Price, Speed.

Cons: Not able to overclock much, if any. Gets warm.

Other Thoughts: Its basically as good as it gets out of the box. xFx locked it in, so overclocking is minimal. Its performance is basically 7970 with a little better cooling vs OEM.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, Ok Build Quality

Pros: It works like a charm, and has great performance.

Cons: After about 8 months, the fan in the video card started making weird buzzing noises. It sounds like the fan or the ball bearings are off balance because the fan only makes a noice when my desktop is in the normal position. Laying my desktop on it's side, which rotates the card by about 90 degrees, makes the noise go away, as does holding my desktop at an angle about 30 degrees off center. Even worse is that I can feel the vibrations caused by the video card in my desk.

Other Thoughts: Overall, it's a good card. I just wish that fan would stop being so annoying.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Solid performance. Read other reviews and was a little nervous, but turned out great. Haven't tweaked on it yet, but not problems with unusual noise. A few scenes in Far Cry 3 make the fans run high speed at the highest settings, but that is expected.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Solid card. Got it as a daily deal for around $320 - couldn't have done better.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review! If you ever have an issue with this card, so a question, please contact our XFX Support team at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com.

1 out of 5 eggsGlitches

Pros: umm okay ?

Cons: GPU load would all of suddent drop to zero in games causes stutter and low FPS ~9-10 in Hitman Absolution what a waste
Sent back for refund.

Other Thoughts: Looked like card would enter sleep mode in the middle of game causing FPS drop.

I bought 660 OC gigabyte and no drops anymore + i got more FPS with 660 and paid 1.5 times Less $$

2 out of 5 eggsNice Video. Horrible Noise.

Pros: Runs things nicely at high resolution.

Cons: After a few months of use the fans are making a horribly loud buzzing noise. I've tested by removing the card from my system and the noise goes away. Add it back in and the noise is back.

For the price tag I'd find something different. I'm regretting my purchase of this.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, if its just a fan error, i can help you get a replacement shroud or resolve the issue you are having. Please contact me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card

Pros: Cost. OC capabilities

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This thing overclocked real well and did a great job in my eyefinity setup although I moved up to a 7970. Price wise this is the best buy since the 7970 was 100 more with marginal increase in performance, at least in eyefinity.

3 out of 5 eggsCrazy

Pros: The replacement 7970 is wonderful although not the best in it's class.

Cons: First one sent to me had artifacts and geometrical images.

Other Thoughts: So I had to RMA the first 7970 sent to me. It was already clocked at 1 GHz and at first I was pleasantly surprised. Artifacts all over the place and geometrical shapes. I eventually got it semi stable by under-clocking it down to 960 but still had artifacts like black squares flashing on the screen. Newegg did the RMA in a little over a week which is way faster than I had expected! 2nd card works perfectly. It's not as peowerful even they it clocked up to 1 ghz but no artifacts. IMO these xfx cards being sent out as non ghz are sometimes ones that didnt cut the mustard as 1ghz versions. Even though they have had their bios bumped up they are trying to sell them as the cheaper 7970. Not cool. I own 2 xfx 4870's, 1 4890, 1 5830, and 1 7950 along with this 7970, all from xfx. The 7950 was the best bang for the buck. So I'm not real happy with xfx on this one. I have an eyefinity system and the 7950 would idle at 58, the replacement 7970 idles at 44. If you get one with the artifacts and shapes send it back, it's not supposed to be that way!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Lane68. we're sorry you are getting artifacting with your card. Obviously its not an intended byprodouct of usage thus we would happily replace it under warranty. Please contact me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com and i will be happy to help you with this issue.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card

Pros: Was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews, but I've had it for about 3 months now and it has never given me any problems. Runs nearly everything I throw at it maxed out. I recently setup a three monitor eyefinity setup and it hasn't skipped a beat. It isn't the best 7970 you can get, but if you catch it on sale it can be a great deal.

Cons: Voltage locked! A little disappointed by this, but I can still get it overclocked past the GHZ edition.

Other Thoughts: Definitely not as bad as some of these reviews suggest. I'm glad I went for it.
