5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: The card itself is a massive beast, very sturdy and intimidating. Since its install(which was easy enough, be sure you have a large enough case though!) it has ran many a game and program at the max resolution pf my monitor, Ultra settings on Metro 2033, Skyrim, Crysis 2, Mass Effect 3, Diablo III... it plays anything I throw at it without minimal frame rate loss, if any at all.

Cons: It can get a bit noisy after a couple hours of intense gameing, even in my case with 10+ fans, i can clearly hear the cards fans over the rest when I play too long. Though I'd rather have a cool, non-overheating card than sit in silence.

Other Thoughts: The card is overall a champ, currently plan on buying a second and do CrossfieX, just hope the card is still here selling! Oh and as always newegg did a great job shipping in a timley manner and the card was well packaged.

Cons: Wish the coolers on vid cards worked better. Although this one works fine.

Other Thoughts: Solid AMD system, and ram was selected for flawless compatibility. No complaints about this card and Ty to Xfx again for another great card with the best warranty!

2 out of 5 eggsMeh.....

Pros: Looks great on paper. Handled Crysis 3 like a BOSS.

Cons: After about 4-5 months of light-moderate use, It now sounds like im boiling a live pig, not sure if its cap squeal or coil whine but its annoying as hell. Past my 30 days for Newegg's help and I've gotten no response from XFX

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsHawwwwt

Pros: Amazing graphics and support from AMD. Runs all sorts of games at highest levels. Looks really cool as well.

Cons: Idk if this card is faulty or not. running it at full load brings me to 80 degree+ playing battlefield3 and other games causes my computer to crash. not sure if it is the card or not but it does run 70 degrees or sometime hotter. which is quite high. been looking into it. My experience has been day to day.

Other Thoughts: bought just before "tahiti cards" :( hope i can figure out why my computer is crashing

2 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

Pros: Nice Looking Card, comes with 2 free games & purs like a content kitten. Very Quiet

Cons: Short Lived, Green Snow, Not even a full 2 weeks and the card is dying.

So, I bought this card with a psu bundle, and all was fine, for the better part of the past 2 weeks

My system build is

Acer 23" Widescreen Flat Panel LED HD Monitor
OS Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit)
CPU AMD FX-6300 3.5 Ghz 6 Core CPU
GPU XFX 7870 Radeon Double D 2gb
PSU XFX Pro 750Watt
8GB DD3 Ram
1TB Sata Hard Drive

Today, I power up my pc, and its snowing green! I try another monitor, reformat 2x, and no good. Green snow. Id say avoid this card at ALL COSTS. XFX says I need to pay to ship it to them, and then in 3 to 6 weeks, they will return it, if they can fix it. REALLY?

Confirming I have proper air flow, trying to detect if its a driver issue, and failing to fix after 2 re installs. even XFX Support said the card is Faulty.

What is worse? I cant get a refund cause I played the games, which they will subtract from the return price, so dont expect to return this card in favor of a full refund. Not gonna happen. So very sad, I really was enjoying this card.

Other Thoughts: Card was delivered on time, looked sexy, ran like a purring kitten, then deciuded to make green snow=/

Manufacturer Response:

Hello ZN2012, please contact me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com. I want to assure you Rma's typically take 2-3 weeks and faulty units get replaced (unless its a fan swap).

5 out of 5 eggsRuns Super well for me, and I have not had a single problem

Pros: This card has worked right out of the box and every day since then. I am a hard core gamer that sitts in front of his computer every day, for hours each day (I work from home) I don't just play on my computer I'm usually running a graphic intensive game at lest once a day and this thing has not stuttered. I love how quiet it is and it stays cool with 25c idle 39 running a high end game and 48 to 53 overclocked using the AMD utility. I love all the flare this guy has! It's screaming for eyefinity!

Cons: Even though I do love this card there are a few cons, first is the fact that they can't throw in any adapters. I paid a nice amount of money for this card and they can't throw in a DVi to VGA or a Mini adapter? WT F the second thing is I thought it would do a little better then it does with benchmarks and turning up all the settings, while it's impressive I fell like it could be better.

MY BIGGEST CON... I'm pretty sure most high end video cards do this, but there is only ONE analog video out on the card, so if you have a multi monitor set up like I have and they are all VGA only? SORRY they are worthless now... I know it's kind of dumb buying a big card like this and then hooking them up to sub par monitors but with 3 monitors I would have thought the lower rez would have been better... Wish it had warned me better.

my last con is the RED plate at the top, my system is black and blue and this card seems out of place...

Other Thoughts: I don't know if I should buy a 7990 or if I should buy one more of these and try crossfire... decisions....

Cons: gets hot when u try to turn all the graphics up had it froze up on my 5 times in a game on league of legends i mean come on if it can use the graphics that high then it should have better cooling

4 out of 5 eggsno real faults

Pros: upgrading from dual 4890s in cross fire-- 3-4yr old tech.
A worthy upgrade!

We'll see if I ever need to act on it-- but warranty registration seems to have been straightforward, and the black edition does still have lifetime: best there is. Dunno if it's still "double" (transferable) though-- of how xfx would even check.

Cons: two things.

the metal shroud is very sturdy, and the card does not flop at all-- but it was bent over 1/8" to one side, and as a result, out of the box one of the cooling fans was hitting directly into the shroud. Some careful tweaking with pliers made some clearance. I wasn't going to wait a week+ to warranty such a trivial fix.

Second, older versions of this exact same card had 4 heat pipes.
This one now comes with just 2.

Seems to stay cool... but I feel a bit cheated, like they've cheapened the same product since it first came out.

Other Thoughts: In summary... good card, no problems.
However, you can get a 7870 for $195 with a 2 year warranty.
Lifetime isn't worth a ton, if you'll upgrade every 2 years anyway-- save $45.

And the tahiti cards are out now, for less money, also.

I probably wouldn't have bought this exact model then if I'd been more aware, just because slightly sweeter deals are elsewhere.

But! No problems with it. Ignoring the tiny shroud misalignment concern. Seems well made.
