Designed for entry-level user and Home Theater system builder, the XFX HD-455X-ZAF4 brings the great features of DirectX 10.1 and AMD technology advancement at an ultra-friendly price point. 80 Stream Process Units renders you games and HD videos with smooth, detailed graphics, while an array of technical innovations such as ATI Stream Technology, ATI Avivo and ATI PowerPlay work behind the scene, optimizing the system response and power efficiency. No more worry about the case dimension, the low-profile makes this card fit into any chassis.

  • newegg Full Microsoft DirectX 10.1 Support The DirectX 10.1 GPU with full Shader Model 4.1 support delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects.
  • newegg ATI Avivo HD High-definition video and display technology for ultimate home theater enjoyment. 1 out of 5 eggsWrong low profile bracket.

Pros: Seem to run fine only put it in to check it out.

Cons: WRONG low profile bracket sent with it. They sent one with HDMI and DVI not S-video. This is stupid because I am sure they cost the like half a cent.

Other Thoughts: XFX or whoever being cheap. Sent wrong low profile bracket with hdmi not s-video.

4 out of 5 eggsNote To Chuck

Pros: Card works great. I have one in an XBMCbuntu system that is connected to an LCD TV and the VGA is adapted to an Acer Projector. Works fine even playing HDTV video and games like Nexuiz on high.

Cons: CHUCK-You are apparently confusing component and composite. Component runs off the 15 pin VGA port and does require an adapter (not really a dongle) that is NEVER included with a video card purchase but are available for a few bucks on the e bay site. Composite runs off the S-video port (or on TV compatible cards the VGA port - this card is not TV compatible). Using a cheap adapter this card can output composite to an RCA connector through the S-Video Port but the output will be in black and white. Color output requires an expensive converter. There are only a few Video Cards around today that directly output composite and none of them will output HDTV since the composite standard only goes to 480 lines not 720 or 1080. Component outputs analog HDTV.

Other Thoughts: This card is not for hard core gamers. It did, however play Crysis on low on a test system that had not been tinkered with for speed.
There are some 32 bit 4550 based XFX cards around that are significantly slower than this card.

4 out of 5 eggsBut wait, there is HDTV

Pros: Decent card, fanless, component video out

Cons: Component video dongle not included

Other Thoughts: Ok. We had concluded HDTV did not work. Finally got info back from XFX. They looked up SN, and determined it should work> We finally determined that there is more than one pinout for the dongles the go from S-video 7-pin to 3 RCA jacks (not included). I had a dongle, but for Nvidea. Apparently ATI is different. NOt many dongles for sale know what pinout they are, all assume there is a "standard". Pins 6 and 7 swapped. XFX sending a dongle. I tested with jumper wires and it did work.

Sorry for all the prior posts, thanks to patient XFX tech, we got a solution!

3 out of 5 eggsResolved: No HDTV

Pros: fanless

Cons: No HDTV

Other Thoughts: I needed HDTV output. Description changed. NewEgg Customer Service resolved the entire issue to my satisfaction. Still wish the card had worked to the original posted specs. But, NewEgg customer service is the best in the industry

2 out of 5 eggsNo HDTV

Pros: Fanless, low price

Cons: Listing changed after purchase, now does not indicate HDTV. Second card NewEgg sent had same issue, blue channel not working on HDTV (component video). Working on getting refund.

Other Thoughts: Note similar XFX card, XFX HD435XZAHR, currently shows HDTV. However, if you zoom in on photo, the bracket says "S-video". I suspect it also does not have HDTV output.

Certainly the card is fine if you don't require component video. But, that is what my (older) HDTV requires.

3 out of 5 eggsOK, we'll try again

Pros: fanless, HDTV output

Cons: HDTV (component) video did not work

Other Thoughts: Newegg made right on the shipping, so we'll see if a new card works out.

1 out of 5 eggsNo good, refurbished but still not functioning

Pros: No fan, HDTV output (component video)

Cons: Blue channel does not work on HDTV output. Works on VGA ans S-Video output, but not component. Probably did not check that during refurbish.

Other Thoughts: Newegg requires me to pay return shipping, when they sent a defective product. It appears they just sent a returned item after a quick test on DVI or VGA. Stick with the full price, not refurb, you are getting their junk and then paying for "warranty" by having to pay return shipping.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Card

Pros: Good for general duty, better than most onboard graphics, silent, has DVI. Runs decent for a refurb. Handles 720 and 1080 HD video. Almost able to keep up with the HD 5450.

Got it to throw into a low-end build of spare parts, no regrets yet.

Cons: Not found on XFX website (which I knew before ordering).

Registered the serial number and it showed up as an "XFX ViZability vest (3m) one size". WTH is that? I'm definetly not expecting any warranty support on this card.

Went on $5 off promo right after delivery - rats.

Other Thoughts: GPU-Z specs:

4 ROPs
80 shaders
64 bit bus
PCI-E 2.0 x16
1024MB DDR2
625 GPU clock
500 Memory clock
DirectX 10.1

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card for budget, low-end computers

Pros: Easy to install, drivers updated quickly. Improvement over integrated graphics cards. Low power usage.

Cons: Catalyst does not work with Windows 7. It works fine on Windows XP though.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a high end gaming card this is NOT it, but if you are on a budget and just need to make a few games playable look no further. I installed 1 in my eMachines with a 250 watt PSU and one in my son's Gateway with a 300 watt PSU and they both were a significant improvement over the integrated graphics. Taking the load off the main CPU helps a lot and with the low power draw of these cards you can install them in lower powered budget desktops.
