5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: extremely fast
GREAT bang for your buck
runs every game I throw at it (1920x1080 is flawless)

Cons: Only 1GB of memory, kinda bad for eye-finity and Huge world games, but still runs stuff like Skyrim pretty smoothly

Other Thoughts: Considering crossfiring in the future

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Someone was complaining about the cooling? Looks beefy enough to me. And the cowling is solid brushed aluminum, what else do you want at this price? Runs Borderlands, Fallout 3, Fallout:New Vegas, Civ V and Guild wars II at full settings. Civ V still has some screen loading issues mid game, but that's more of a CPU thing I think.

Cons: Not a 7870?

Other Thoughts: Missed out on the Far Cry III deal. Really guys? Really disappointed. Almost bought the 7770 so I could get that game free. The chance to have a superior card won out though. Oh well....

4 out of 5 eggsGood card, but don't expect much VGA use.

Pros: Solid Performer
Good for crossfire

Cons: VRAM is on the low side
Only one output converts to VGA.

Other Thoughts: So this will by no means be the average use case, but in case anyone else makes my mistake:

I have a set of four VGA monitors that I wanted to chain together to get a surround effect. I had bought two of these for crossfire, and done some simple math in my head when I realized that there were four DVI outputs, and bought 4 DVI to VGA converters. Much to my surprise, then after research, disappointment, I discovered the following:

1.Only one output may be used to convert to VGA on each card
2. You can only use the outputs of one card if you want to crossfire.

So essentially I'm stuck at 2 monitors now instead of 4, and only 1 if I want to utilize crossfire. Far from my imagined dream workstation. You can buy what are called "active adapters" to get the other outputs to convert from digital to analog signal, but those are rather expensive and frankly cost roughly as much as the monitors themselves did.

All of this ranting, and I still give it 4 stars because if does what is was designed to do well. I just wish that there would have been documentation somewhere to point this out to me beforehand, or at least that it would have been more apparent.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card for the money on 1080P or less

Pros: Performs as it should low power consumption

Cons: No Sound over DVI. I have been using my Asus TOP 4850 for awhile and it passed sound like it should. I have a 15' DVI to DMI cable that passes sound to my TV w/o adapter.

I just upgraded to z77 Asroxk Extreme 4 MOBO and swapped the TV to the onboard video and bam sound works.

From looking around it seems only some cards pass sound, but on this one you would think having 2 DVI and only 1 HDMI it would pass sound through DVI but does not

Good luck finding reviews of which cards actually do pass sound through DVI, I found 1 mention of an Asus 7850 that was supposed to pass sound

Other Thoughts: Overall works great taking 1 star away due to not passing sound over DVI. Actually if I did not upgrade and have onboard video I would be more upset and remove 2 stars since I would have to buy a 15' HDMI cable to get sound to my TV

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Graphics Card

Pros: Can easily overclock, getting an additional 20% power. More power than the HD 6950 and if overclocked can match the power of the HD 7870.

Cons: Not 2 GB, this card is 1 GB

Other Thoughts: It does not matter that this card is 1 GB, becuase by overclocking you get really good performence almost 21% more power.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value, but below par for 7850s

Pros: Excellent value with rebates and sale prices
Overclocks easily (Can boost to 1050/1325 no problem)
Reasonably quiet
Well built
Loads of monitor and display connectors

Cons: A little slower than other 7850s due to 1GB of RAM and lower OC potential. Many other cards can go a lot higher than 1050/1325. I'm not getting quite the performance most reviewers get with the 2GB cards, but it's not far off.

Documentation led me to believe I needed two 6 pin power connectors but the card only has 1. It's nice it only has 1 power connector, but I wasted a fair amount of time worrying that I was missing something I needed.

Other Thoughts: Price/Performance, this is 5 stars. But I docked a star in comparison to the other 2GB 7850s. Don't buy this 1GB version unless it is a fair amount cheaper than a 2GB version.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price but not for overclocking

Pros: 1) Small form factor, shorter than my 6 year old Nvidia 9600GT
2) Price, $142 after rebate and coupon code with a free game

Cons: Minus 1 egg since you cannot unlock voltage control with many popular tweaking programs (Afterburner, etc). Seems like XFX has locked out the voltage control in this model, so if you want to push your 7850 to really high core clocks you may want to look at another model. AFAIK the only way to get around this is to flash your card to a unlocked voltage firmware.

Other Thoughts: For the price, this model's price/performance can't be beat. Unless you're running trifinity or have a ridiculous high resolution monitor, this cards 1GB VRAM is more than enough for 99% of games out there. Wicked fast too, beats my 6950 2GB in most performance tests. Just know what you're getting into; if you're looking for 1350 Mhz core clocks, I suggest you look into another model since there's no native option for voltage unlocking.
