Pros: See previous review.

Cons: This is my second time having to RMA my purchase. The first time was for the entire model series specific to XFX having to be replaced, this time it's for a dead fan...Oddly, I received this message from XFX Customer Support:

You've noticed that the front fan (the fan farthest from the bracket) is spinning very slowly and emitting a buzzing noise, based on that the fan is faulty. try to use other DVI and HDMI cables.

Uh yea...Right now I'm just hoping XFX doesn't deny my RMA because this card is an RMA replacement from the previous RMA...

Other Thoughts: With this RMA I'll be out a total of about $30 in shipping costs...Do yourself a favor, don't buy XFX...

4 out of 5 eggsWorked for a while

Pros: For starters, this card ran everything at Ultra with no problems until recently. I play WOW, BF4, Skyrim, CS:GO, ESO, and Metro:LL. This card could run them with no problems.

Cons: I purchased the card in November 2013 and it worked great until last night when in the middle of a CS:GO map the computer screen flashed, went black and my PC rebooted. I could hear it starting back up but had no video just a HDMI source not found message. I rebooted a few times and still nothing, changed HDMI cable, tried a DVI cable and still nothing. I'm now running an old Sapphire 4870.

Other Thoughts: It's a really nice card with an excellent cooling setup and clean look. I hope I just got a hold of a bad card.

Pros: Ran Battlefield 4 and Starcraft II on the highest settings. Of course it slowed down a little in BF4 during intense close quarter battles but I was very happy with it.

Cons: 6 months into owning the card it locks up after about 3-5 minutes of Battlefield 4 (BF4). The only way out is to shut it down through the task manager. If I try to play BF4 again without a full computer restart the game will lock up in 3-5 minutes or less and a full restart is required. Apparently I'm not the first owner with this problem.

I was happy with the card but now it's so frustrating. I opened a support ticket with XFX a few minutes ago so I'll report back either in one week or when I get resolution from XFX, whichever comes first.

Pros: Fantastic card when I runs, 60 FPS Ultra settings in most if not all the games I own, including Battlefield 4.

Cons: Sadly, the darn thing shuts down my computer during gaming sessions sometimes. Battlefield 4 shutdowns are very uncommon, but Crysis 3 shuts down after 5 minutes, same with War Thunder (seriously... War Thunder?) and Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (Only when DSFix is on). Other games like Dead Rising 2 for example also shut down my computer after five minutes. I'm limited in the games I can play because of this. It started about a month into ownership, and was fixed with a simple compressed air spray down. Now that doesn't work anymore and I'm afraid to buy new games thinking they'll kill my computer. I did research and saw that this is a common problem with this card, so I know it's not my PSU. Honestly I want to love this card, but I can't with a problem like this.

Other Thoughts: I would give it 5 eggs without a doubt if it worked right.

Pros: The card ran great for a little over a year, then started rebooting the system. Ran a few tests and isolated it to the card and then reached out to XFX. It's awesome they have lifetime warranties! XFX easily approved an RMA and is now shipping a 280X as a replacement (which is even more powerful than the 7970). Overall, very pleased with XFX.

Cons: It is disturbing that the card died within 2 years... I don't think I have ever had a card die that quickly before. And I tend to keep them for many years (passing them down to other computers and then other family members who don't game once they're really old). If not for XFX great support, I would've rated it MUCH lower.

Pros: Hoping XFX guy here at newegg can help , maybe expidite my situation and make sure it gets taken care of properly.

Still love my cards.

Cons: More of a inconvenience , at this point. Realistically, not going to bad mouth product because of 1 fan failure. Concerned now, with previous problems with XFX having lost all records of Warrenty and told to simply just re-register. Hoping Neweggs XFX rep who answers these will help.

Other Thoughts: Have made 2 very favorable reviews in past for this product. One on 05-13-2013 and most recently, 11-12-2013
Now one of the cards mentioned fan has crapped out.

PS both my cards should have lifetime warrenty since they were registered withing 30 days from purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsMy last ATI cards... EVER!!

Pros: On first installation and user these cards are great, but it is not until after you begin to use them that their true nature shows it's self.

Cons: First I purchased two of these at the same time as I am doing a Crossfire setup. Of the two cards one was DOA and after dealing with XFX support for 3 weeks I finally convenced them to send me a replacement, Shipping at my expense ofcource!!

Now when I get my replacement I get a new surprise, there are two versions of the card. Apparently this card can come in two flavors even though the product number is the same. One version has 2 DVI ports, the other has 1 DVI and one HDMI. Now hoping this is just a pot difference and not a card difference I connect my replacement and setup my Crossfire setup. For 6 months everything is great, but then trouble starts, I am now experiencing random crashes and system lock-ups when running graphics intensive applications. I know it is the video cards because the offending .dll is the ATI ones.

Now before you ask, yes I can tried driver updates. I have even done complete OS rebuilds 3 times and each time I ensure I use the latest ATI approved drivers and I still have the issue. I have narrowed down the problem to the card I did not RMA already.

So let me experience be a guide. Just go with NVIDIA that or a different manufacturer then XFX.

Pros: Runs BF4 BF3, DCS World and Falcon BMS at highest settings. Haven't tried it on Arma yet but then again that game is more CPU dependent too.
Overclocks well and when I'm not over clocked the temp stays below 73C

Other Thoughts: Used my $25 gift card and got $15 off to offset a competitor thanks to the Great customer service of New egg and acknowledging the money I have spend here through the years :)

Pros: Quick delivery by Newegg

Cons: 1. Omissions by manufacturer.
The card does come with a lifetime warranty. But only you register within 30 days on their website.

2. Poor customer support.
After the fan failed one the card it took several days to raise someone via email. All subsequent communication each took several days.
XFX refused to pay shipping costs, which took 20USD out of my pocket to ship the card to CA. That took care of the rebate they are giving out.

3.Performance
Fans are unable to keep the card cool on their own...not even close and the frame rate is low.

4. Power hog
My first electricity bill was shocking. At least double of what it was the same month last year. If you plan to use the card for mining it won't be worth your while.

5. Loud
I can easily hear the hum from the far corner of my home.

All in all this is certainly the worth purchase I've made online. If I could still return it I would but now looks like I'll be trying to resell it for half the price online.

Other Thoughts: If you are not professional make sure that people you are dealing with are. XFX had lackluster customer support. Poor response times and verbal skills

1. Our graphics cards do not produce omissions. There is no exchange of any fuels or gasses. Any omissions would not be GPU related.

2. Customer support is open M-F 9-5PM PST. You can also try xfxsupport.com for written tickets and continuing support. Also neweggsupport@xfxforce.com is always available to assist you during the same hours.

3. Performance related issues are usually drivers or un-real expectations. If you are having any issues still, please contact us for further support. Typically its driver related.

4. This card requires a 6 and 8pin power connector, with the potential to use up to 300W. Like any other 7970, it requires a fair amount of power to operate.

5. Your graphics card is so loud at idle you can hear it across your house? Are the fans damged? Are you mining on the card with default settings?

At this time, we think your only issue may be driver related or perhaps a damaged fan. Please contact us for support regarding replacement parts and driver installations. neweggsupport@xfxforce.com

Pros: I was new to xfx cards when i purchased this, i bought this card because one of my good friends bought the exact same card and talked so highly of it. Card was amazing the first 5 months i had it played every game high to ultra graghics. such as games like:
1.Farcry 3
2.battlefield 4
3.crysis 3

Cons: When i installed the card and loaded into games the card would make a buzzing sound i researched this and this was a common issue with the card, the card started running hot around 70-80c on games that shouldnt have put that kinda strain or load on the card im talking games like Diablo 3 even tried turning down the graghics to see if i had any better temps to find out it was still running hot. on a few occasions the card actually caused my computer to randomly reboot my computer during games. as of 3/8/2014 the card shut down my pc while playing diablo3 and started smoking in my case like it was catching fire smoke pouring out of it had to quickly unplug everything and pull the card out 1 year of use i find this once again unacceptable of a card that was pretty much 500.00$

Other Thoughts: XFX webpage seems broken to me. when i purchased the card i went to register on there site and either there support site was down or was generally having issues. took my almost 3 weeks to be able to register my product this was back in 02/19/13. i started playing battlefield 4 around december of 2013 and noticed the game was telling me there was a better driver for my card. so i went straight to xfx to get the driver, when i tried logging in it told me My user account did not exist. i only use 1 email items like this so i knew something was wrong. i tried password resets and all and still told me i did not exist.i had to remake my account and re-register my card this i feel is unacceptable. i have 2 friends whom have XFX products and registered them and they both currently are having the same issue with XFXsupport.com, telling them theyre accounts do not exist...and as ive read on other reviews me and my friend are not the only ones having this problem. Not only is the site unstable a company that produces such a high dollar card should not have spelling issues all over there support page. and it should be alot easier to use than what it currently is. Im still waiting back for a RMA application or waiting to speak to someone about my card
