3 out of 5 eggsDecent Card

Pros: It's powerful, reasonably priced with rebate, nicely cooled, and plays most modern games on high to max settings fluently at 1080p!

Cons: Just today after around three months of owning and gaming it up on it, I'm beginning to experience black unresponsive screens after being in a game for 10-15 minutes.

Upon attempting to sign into the XFX support page to contact them it says my account doesn't exist. When attempting to reregister my product after signing up again I get an error which leads me to some support options in "engrish". I'll continue my attempts to contact support but as of right now I'm not happy.

Other Thoughts: The Never Settle Reloaded Bundle was a great bonus!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, We are sorry you had trouble with your card. If you have any further questions, please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com. Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to my previous review

Pros: RMA'd 7850 was ultimately replaced by a refurb 7870

Cons: No updates/communication on RMA status
Returned card was slightly damaged (but still worked)
No way to register the replacement card if I need to return it

Other Thoughts: (rated 5 eggs to balance out previous review)

Update on my 7850 DD RMA: I finally received an email response to my request for information on my return. The email said simply that they'd sent back my card and included the tracking number. And big surprise, they sent me this email on the very day that the card was out for delivery to my address.

Turns out it was a good thing they sent me the tracking number, because they put the wrong address on the package. I finally got FedEx to hold it at one of their locations so I could pick it up the following evening.

So I finally get the card home and open it up. At this point, I have no idea if they've sent me back my original card or a replacement or what. But I'm a bit surprised when I find a 7870 DD instead. And it's clearly a refurb, as one of the bracket corners is badly bent.

So after bending the bracket back into shape and installing it, everything seems to be working. Now, I'm not going to complain about the "upgrade" itself, although I think they could have at least made sure it wasn't such an obviously damaged refurb. The big problem, or rather potential problem, is that I don't have any record on my end of how I obtained the 7870. I don't have any receipt or paper trail to refer to so I can register it. So if this one dies on me, I'll just have to hope that someone on their end has a record of the exchange.

So, thanks, XFX, for finally sending me back a refurb upgrade. But it shouldn't have taken so long, and you should have done a much better job of communicating with me and documenting things.

PLEASE BRING BACK YOUR OLD SUPPORT SYSTEM.

5 out of 5 eggsOne AMAZING card!

Pros: This card is a HUGE beast! I've had it for at least a month now, and no problems have occured. Even though this is an older model, it exceeded ALL my expectations, especially for its price. I've been playing many of my games and programs on maxed out settings with zero problems so far. 189$ for this beast? Great deal! If anyone tells you that this card could run most games on medium settings, don't listen, it can handle almost everything I throw at it. This card really IS a buy for any gamer out there.
Physically, this card is also pretty cool. It'll make any computer look cool with its red finish and brass pipe look.

Cons: The only con I can list so far would have to be a slight scraping sound whenever your computer starts up. Otherwise, no problems.

Other Thoughts: This card is a definite buy for anyone building or upgrading their computer. It's affordable for what it is and overall great.

1 out of 5 eggsThe worst support

Pros: Worked very well for about a month

Cons: Died after about a month
I had to pay the RMA shipping
Terrible, ongoing CS experience

Other Thoughts: Video output stopped after about a month. I went back and forth with CS for a couple of weeks, tested the card on a different MB received an RMA, and sent it back (eating the shipping cost myself). That was over a month ago. As of now I have received no updates on my RMA, even though delivery confirmation shows it was received on their end.

The real problem, though, was that they changed from a reasonably functional support service to what seems to be the lowest-bidding, third-world-based support center they could find. The support website is MUCH worse now. I was completely unable to login for about three weeks. They finally got the old accounts migrated, but now my previous ticket information is nowhere to be found.

And just go and look at their facebook page, and you'll see a lot of other people having the same experience. Apparently XFX used to have good CS once upon a time, but those days seem to be a thing of the past.

So I've been minus a video card in my new rig for about two months now. If this seems like an acceptable situation, go ahead and buy the card. It was great while it worked!

2 out of 5 eggsRuns well! Sometimes..

Pros: Much needed boost from my HD5750. Significant increase in framerate and quality of rendered graphics. Can play all of the latest titles without performance issues on high/ ultra settings. The card does not get very hot (peaks at 47c/116f under full load in ambient temps of 23c/ 73f). Fan noise is very quiet as well!

Cons: At every boot (and occasionally in the middle of use) my second (DVI) monitor will be distorted/ showing "static". My primary (connected through HDMI) has not shown these issues at all. I have swapped between both DVI connectors, and tested with a spare monitor, but the problem persists until I Disable the extended display, and then re-enable it. So far this has occurred at every boot (full boots from shutdown) since I installed the card.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if going from HIS to XFX was a good idea yet.. Will have to watch my problem and rma if issues persist/ worsen. It seems like a quality card as far as build is concerned, but if it glitches under normal use, what will it do after I put some mileage on it?

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Glitchy, are you certain its not the monitor itself just starting up? If it becomes an issue for you, contact me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com and i will get this resolved for you.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far so Good

Pros: I have not purchased an ATI card for close to a decade because of horrible support and drivers. I took a chance on the Radeon HD7850 because it was rated so highly for the price. I have not been disappointed so far. My games are running a bit smoother and the card is pretty quiet for having two fans.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was fearful of having to jump through hoops to get the driver working. It installed very smoothly and works very well. Much better than I expected.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent card but has issues

Pros: Price - After rebate it was cheap compared to comparable cards

Cons: As another review mentioned, when coming out of sleep it has artifacts on screen and any open windows are blacked out. Never had any issues with other cards on same MB, processor, RAM, etc combinations

Other Thoughts: Get another brand.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Sleep mode artifacting is a comptability issue with components, but can be resolved. please contact me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Price.

Cons: The card was DOA. I had read other poor reviews suggesting that there were problems with this card. I hoped I would fare better, however the card was dead out of the box.

Other Thoughts: Probably performs well but I couldn't promise that because the card never worked.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, It is highly unlikely to receive a doa card. Are you sure you have it setup right? please contact me at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com and i will be able to help you.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great 3D gaming for price level, Sound levels good for performance

Cons: Whether or not it is a ATI problem or an XFX problem I am not sure but the card leaves pixelated areas after the screen comes out of sleep then this leads to VPU recover or crash. I RMA'ed to XFX and they said nothing wrong so now am stuck with this piece of Junk. I have used three other cards on this PC 1 nvidia, XFX6870 and XFX5450 no problems what so ever.

Other Thoughts: I have been building pc's for years and hate when I get stuck with bad designs. I believe this to be a bios problem and should not have to spend hours trying to fix this problem.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, after it came in for testing it should have been replaced wiht a different model 7850 as a courtesy. Are you getting artifacts on that unit as well? please contact me at neweggsupport@xfxforce to get this issue resolved. Mark
