3 out of 5 eggsGreat Card. Use Another Manufacturer

Pros: Strong card handles all my online gaming with better than average settings. My board is only a PCIe 2.0 so I can imagine it running even better on a PCIe 3.0 board.

Cons: The manufacturer XFX is not a company of their word in my last two experiences with the Hong Kong company. The Personal Activation Code (bonus goodies) that came with the card was never honored in both instances. The hoops one must jump through to get any kind of support when addressing my issue months later is not worth the frustration; other manufactures are out there for the HD 7950.

Other Thoughts: The fans run quiet and will speed up slightly when the card is in Overdrive. I like to go into Catalyst Control Panel and run the fans manually at 70% when I game. It keeps the card at 40-42 C but, does make a considerable amount of "whine" from the dual fans. I'm OK with that when gaming.

3 out of 5 eggsMixed

Pros: 1. Great performer
2. Limited life-time warranty
3. Decent heatsink

Cons: 1. Durability: especially with fans

Other Thoughts: We bought 6 of these cards last November to be used in mining rigs. After 4 months, only 1 of them survived. You can argue that these cards aren't meant for mining, but other video cards from other manufacturers are still running without any issue.

I am in the middle of RMAing these cards, so I will update my score accordingly base on my experience.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Hoozah, Unfortunately alot of people mined on these cards without changing the voltage or used incorrect clock settings.

Fortunately, the replacements we send you should help resolve any previous issues.

Thank you for your review.

4 out of 5 eggsPower hog

Pros: Performs as expected

Cons: Requires both a 6-pin PCIe power connector AND an 8-pin PCIe power connector but does not come with any molex-to-PCIe adapters.

Consumes over 350W under load.

Requires lots of case fans.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We would be happy to help any overheating issues you may have, but it sounds like the card is running fine.

For the others viewers reference whom may get confused, this card is not capable of using 350Watts, a 290x consumes up to 293 Watts. This card is roughly 210-250 watts depending on the usage.

Please contact us if you feel that your card is not acting as it should be. neweggsupport@xfxforce.com

4 out of 5 eggsGood card, rebate is a lottery.

Pros: Works great, looks good and less noisy than the card it replaced.

Cons: Forget about getting your rebate. The company XFX uses apparently can't the purchase date on Newegg invoices printed right off the site. YMMV

Manufacturer Response:

Rebates are not a lottery.

If you applied for your rebate and have a rebate tracking #, please email us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com for immediate assistance.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card with one flaw

Pros: -great for cryptomining (litecoin, dogecoin, vertcoin, ect.) i get 600kh/s easily.
-fan are fairly silent
-easy to overclock to 1100mhz (and very stable at this speed)
-able to change voltages in cgminer to reduce heat and energy used
-the card looks really good, feels solid
-never had this card crash my display drivers like my other 7950 did
-you can play basicly any game on ultra @ 60fps on a 1080p screen

Cons: -heatsink is a little small
-default voltage will overheat your card

Other Thoughts: -for some reason this card comes with the default vddc at 1.250, this is WAY TO HIGH! This is why everyone has had overheating problems with this card. If you max out the gpu usage and the vddc is at 1.250 the card will get to 90+ degrees C even with the fans at 100%. There is no reason to leave your voltage this high.
-If you change the vddc to 1.125 then max out gpu usage, it only gets to 80 C. You can overclock stably to 1100mhz at this voltage. mining at ~620kh/s
-further reducing the vddc to 1.069 will only allow your core clock speed to go up to 825mhz. this reduces heat down into the low 70's high 60's but at the cost of only mining at ~500kh/s

Manufacturer Response:

Hello and thank you for the great review. We appreciate the feedback. Im sure many users will find this helpful

5 out of 5 eggsHandles everything

Pros: This truly is a wonderful video card, it can handle everything I have thrown at it. I almost teared up a bit when I was getting games from 2009 to run at 120 fps at a near constant rate. However, when I got this in june 2013 it was much much less expensive and came with 3 free games so the cost a was huge plus. I am tempted to get another or similar one to use them together, but we shall see

Cons: The cost went way up and I don't know if I could justify getting it now.

2 out of 5 eggsFX-795A-TDKC

Pros: Dual Fans, smaller footprint

Cons: Problems with video card with BF4, can't get through a game without "driver stopped working issues" Did not notice much difference from my previous card XFX 5870 and will probably reinstall this card so I can at least play the game

Other Thoughts: This card should run this game without any problems on max settings. Tried everything to resolve i.e. uninst/reinstll drivers, lowered video setting, ck for heating issues. Frustrating...!

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Bodie,

This sounds like a basic driver issue. Please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com for a tutorial checklist to make sure you didnt skip a step along the way.

Thank you
