5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: This card is extremely cheap for price vs. performance. I have been running maximum settings on all the games I play, and with Mantle technology my old Phenom II x4 965 CPU doesn't bottleneck it! Awesome card, my friend got the same one.

Cons: My friend bought the same card and it came DOA for him, kinda sucks :/

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this GPU to everyone looking for a really great card in the upper levels of gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth it

Pros: Looks sweet as well as amazing price/performance ratio. I run Far Cry 3 on ultra (MSAA on 4x) super smooth. Battlefield 3 and 4 on ultra maxed settings with no problems (60 FPS). Crysis 3 and Thief with good playability too (40-55 FPS.) Haven't had a single hitch with this card and it stays pretty cool with decent case airflow (64C). I have this paired with an FX-8350 on Windows 8.1 and an Asus Crosshair IV Formula Mobo. Am considering getting another to Xfire. Great Card and pretty darn futureproof.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Too be expected of a card of this caliber: It's big. make sure you have the clearance for it in your case.

4 out of 5 eggsFrusterated

Pros: Its a XFX, best warranty in the industry. Unfortunately i dont have any other pros. See cons

Cons: This card has gave me nothing but trouble for days now. Initially i have been having black screen system crashes requiring hardboot even with a game like diablo 3. I have tried many options, guru drive sweepers, uninstalling and reinstalling numerous driver packages, reinstalling a fresh factory windows 8.1, rollbacking my MB BIOS and reinstalling latest. So far the one and only way i have been able to get this card stable while gaming was this morning when i decreased the card performance in msi afterburner as show here:

voltage: stock
power limit: stock
core clock: decreased to 850
memory clock: decreased to 1050
fan speed: min of 50 with sharp 2 o clock increase

System specs

AMD FX-4100 OC
Corsair H60 water cooler
XFX R9 280X BIOS 015.044.010.000000....
Sabertooth 990fx latest BIOS
100w collmax psu
120 gb SSD
1Tb HDD

I am not happy with this. Why have such a beast card only to tame it? It runs stable underclocked, so i think the card still has hope and is not broke right?? There has got to be something i am doing wrong i would think. So i wont give up on it just yet.

Other Thoughts: Wish i could untame this beast.

5 out of 5 eggsupgrading an old xfx

Pros: Don't have it yet, but it's gonna be a beast!

Cons: Hope this one doesn't die after 2 years like my 6870 did or ill be disappointed considering I'm paying a hell of a lot more then i did for the 6870.

Other Thoughts: Upgrading my build with this card and a full tower (from a mid tower).

5 out of 5 eggsA HUGE BEEF Graphics Card

Pros: Ok 3GB DDR 5... a pretty big deal. Crossfire ready for dual GPU support... bigger deal. 384-bit preformance, ok it's getting better. $299 after mail-in-rebate? Am I seriously getting such a beefy card for that price? I can't believe it.

Cons: Make sure your case has enough space to support this BIG BAD baby!

Other Thoughts: Couldn't be happier with my shopping. As always, Newegg delivers as fast as a concord airplane. Luckily my case had enough room to fit this HUGE card. I had to take out a case fan though.

I would buy this all over again if I could.

5 out of 5 eggs100%

Pros: fans are super quiet even at 100% speed. coolest running than any GPU I've ever seen. stays between 40-60 degrees during the most intense game play at full 1080p res. easy overclocking plenty of thermal room to really crank the settings.

Cons: card is very large. check dimensions of the card and your case before purchasing. crossfire finger is further back than the plastic shroud. card is very heavy and doesn't come with a PCB brace like the older 7900 series cards did.

Other Thoughts: the shroud feels on the cheaper side of things. the metallic accent is plastic and is very flimsy if you touch it. the instructions tell you not to use the power adapters that they have included in the box. the GPU box is very lack luster in protective properties. its a cardboard box. no foam just cardboard, and not very thick cardboard.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST card GREAT price.

Pros: This card is perfect. Price is right and plays everything I tested at 60+ frames a second at 1080p. The new tomb raider on ultimate settings 60+ frames. BF4, Sleeping dogs, bio shock 1/2/3., too many to name. Skyrim of course, and with 3 gigs of memory, skyrim mods are a breeze. Customer support is GREAT and fast. Runs very cool 32c/90F when not in use. when in use 45c/113F.

Cons: I can't find any cons.

Other Thoughts: Had artifacts on my screen, contacted support with details and they said it sounds like a HDMI cable. Tried and new one and it worked right away.

5 out of 5 eggsOh MY!!!

Pros: Used for Bitcoin mining initially and made me back my investment!

Got 2 of these and one of th MSI. These guys run about 7 degrees cooler than all the other cards I have had on average.

Later used 2 in crossfire and kicks tail!

Cons: ZERO!!!!

No seriously guys, these have been the best GPUS I have purchased for this price range ever!

Other Thoughts: Wish the casing was slightly lower near the Power...

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding card

Pros: Looks great, stays cool, and performs very well. Card hasn't crashed once for me, and can max out pretty much every game at 1080p and achieve 60+ fps, as long as you don't use max anti aliasing for everything. Top temperatures with an Hyper 212 Evo and a Corsair 200R case were 75c, after upgrading to an H80i as intake and using 2 fans at the top of the case for exhaust, temps are actually lower now and average 60-70, rarely going above that. I have been able to overclock the card to 1100MHz core clock and 1575MHz memory clock without having to raise the voltage, and it has stayed solid.

Cons: It would be cool if the logo was illuminated like on the 290x version, but that's about all I have to complain about :)

Other Thoughts: Initially when I got the card I was very frustrated and was thinking about returning it and getting a replacement because games were constantly crashing, taking the whole computer with it each time. I thought this was the card's fault, but had no complaints with this gpu after I realized it was my CPU crashing, and I just needed to raise the voltage for my overclock.

Idle temps for me are 50 or 51 most of the time, might be a little high for some but I don't see a problem with that personally as it doesn't get too hot when at full load.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Happy

Pros: Card worked great for several months. Looks great and is quiet.

Cons: For the several weeks now I have been having issues with my machine crashing whenever i run and graphically intensive programs like 3ds Max or Video games on high. Within a few minutes to an hour or two i get a striped screen and the keyboard and mouse become unresponsive. The only way to get the machine working again his to hold power, boot in safe mode, then restart the machine properly. For the $309 i payed last fall, i feel extremely ripped off! That is way to much money to pay for a product that doesn't work.... and my roommates don't appreciate me raging out at 1am when my machine crashes for the 5th time that day. ;P

Other Thoughts: I can try popping this into card another machine at work to see if i still have issues, and popping in an extra card i have at work into my home machine to see if it is an issue with the psu or mobo. If that doesn't work i am sending this back and getting a different card. If i can edit this review, i will update in a few days.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Richter,

Your crashing occurs from minutes to hours apart? Have you tried monitoring the temperatures or swapping video cards?

If you have any issues, please contact us and let us know. neweggsupport@xfxforce.com.
