The XFX R7-250A-ZLH4 is powered by an AMD Radeon R7 250 GPU. It delivers evolved performance and lower power consumption at a budget-friendly price with the latest AMD graphics technology. Radeon R7 250 is based on AMD generation 28nm GCN architecture, and comes with support for DirectX 11.2 for improved graphics in the hottest games. AMD App Acceleration boosts your everyday applications. And with DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort connectors, you can build multi-monitor environments for enhanced viewing and productivity.

This model comes equipped with a meticulously designed and engineered passive thermal solution for efficient cooling at the "zilch" noise level, great for office PCs or HTPCs where quietness matters.

  • newegg Passive Cooling The XFX R7-250A-ZLH4 uses a passive heatpipe and heatsink cooler with no fan to deliver totally silent cooling and increased reliability as it has no mechanical moving parts. It’s great for HTPCs and any general purpose PCs where operational noise needs to be kept to a minimum.
  • newegg DirectX 11.2 The tessellation performance on the AMD Radeon R7/R9 series is up to two times faster than the previous generation, and DirectCompute performance is also faster to accelerate advanced post-processing, filtering, and anti-aliasing techniques. Direct X11 games have never looked this good.
  • newegg Mantle There’s optimization, and then there’s Mantle. Games enabled with Mantle speak the language of GCN architecture to unlock revolutionary performance and image quality.
  • newegg AMD App Acceleration Improve the performance of everyday tasks such as Web browsing, office applications, and video rendering.
  • newegg AMD PowerTune technology Enables intelligent power monitoring to enable higher clock speeds and better performance in your favorite games.

5 out of 5 eggsXFX R7 250 Passive

Pros: Silent, great for home theater purposes, GDDR5 memory.

Cons: I was looking for a gaming card, this works for low-medium settings. It was my mistake for not researching more thoroughly

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Thank you for the great review, we are happy you are pleased. This card isnt considered a high performance graphics card, the 260 is really the first "high" end card for gaming.

3 out of 5 eggsNot a true passive

Pros: Mostly passive - reaches up to 90 C and maintains around there without a fan. Stayed there for 4 hours straight when I tested it. Idle is around 40 C.

Plays Warframe at 1440x900 with max settings minus AA at 80 frames a second. In other words, it is still very good for a passive card.

Cons: AMD's latest GPUs are very unstable in Windows XP and needs to be addressed for the new chips. Carpe Verdi ones are still compatible, but the new Oland chips crash way too often in my older XP computer. Is it false advertisement when AMD says these chips have working XP drivers.

90 C is too hot at stock settings. A passive card should maintain safe operating temperatures just by the natural ability for heat to escape and travel up, out of the case. 90 C is not a safe thermal point. I would be fine with 70 C since I have had passive cards before that became that hot, but 90 C is dangerous for long periods of use.

Other Thoughts: Great card if it could be safely used as a passive. It will require some air to be blown in from a case fan to function with ease of mind. It is not compatible with XP. It crashed every 10-20 minutes when I used Direct X programs, but worked fine with browsers like FireFox and Chrome. Will require a small underclock if you want to be completely fanless.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Alex,

We are sorry you are having issues with your 250A.

Temperature: Please understand that this card is capable of running at 90'C, however, only certain programs designed to over-heat this card will push it that far (furmark). Normal use should leave the card around 65-85'C depending on ambient temperature.

Crashing: crashing in XP is going to be driver related, not GPU. we can help resolve any driver related issues. Please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsHappy camper...

Pros: I have no idea why some posters claims to be professionals and at the same time unable to do the simplest things..! i am A+ and MCP certified and was able to install it in my mATX ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX and download the latest driver from AMD site for my Windows 7 Pro x32 in about 9 minutes. now the windows score is 7.4 and things are snappy. i usually purchase the fanless cards because they last longer since their is no fan to malfunction. please do your homework first and be fair.

Cons: absolutely nothing

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review. We are happy you are pleased.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk!

Pros: None.

Cons: First off, I am an experienced computer tech, and I have been in the industry for over 15 years (ergo, I know what I am doing.). Got this card after a bit of research, and found that this particular card is JUNK. I had to return it after only one day. Post-install, there were difficulties with the driver install, the instructions were poorly written, not to mention that there were on video fragments that looked a lot like RF interference. Attempted to re-seat the card; however, the fragments persisted. As if this weren't enough, I ran CPU-Z, and found that the card was running at over 105 degrees! WAY TOO HOT. This thing is JUNK. Returned it the next day and am looking at getting a GeForce GTX 750 Ti instead.

Other Thoughts: Get a fan cooled model if you buy this type of videocard

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Loverdann,

We're sorry you had issues with your GPU. Its bizarre that you had RF, Artifacts, and overheating on a brand new card.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Passive heat sink means less noise coming from the case.
Great response to heavy graphics load.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from and XFX Radeon HD 5450. I play several games on my computer and this card has allowed me to turn the graphics settings to the highest settings. It is easy to install and the temp stays at a reasonable level. This card is also allows me to play a game on one monitor and have a DVD playing on the other. The catalyst software makes it very easy to configure my display settings the way I want them!

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review! We appreciate the positive feedback.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent card

Pros: * Passive heat sink
* Works on Linux with newest driver(Release date: 12/19/2013)
* Idle temperature is around 32C

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: I am not a gamer. So I have no idea how it performs on modern games. I write openGL simulations and this serves the purpose. Primary reason for me to choose this card is the passive cooling. I don't like fans :)

Thank you for the great review. If you have any issues or concerns, please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com.

5 out of 5 eggsMost economical 4K fanless

Pros: Does 4K at 30Hz. Text is clear at that resolution, and HD video (1080P in 1/4 of the screen!) uses little CPU.

Cons: If running Linux, you need ATI/AMD proprietary Catalyst drivers for the most compatible 4K output.

Thank you for your great review. If you have any questions, please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com.
