Improved Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing MSAA Technology

Smooth Lines Make All the Difference Between Itty Bitty Low-Quality Graphics Versus Smooth Realistic Graphics

MSAA smooths out the jagged edges of a curved object. A black curved line on a white background displayed on a computer screen will have some jaggedness along its edges due to the inherent limitations of using discrete pixels to display the image. Anti-aliasing smooths out this jaggedness by filling in the white spaces between the jagged edges with varying shades of gray which gives you the smooth soft shadows, crisp sharp lines of buildings, and crisp tiny details in clothing that make your experience truly realistic.

Partially Resident Textures PRT Technology

Radically Change the Detail of Your Games from Flat to Realistic

Even in the latest titles, gamers may have noticed that games often reuse or repeat textures, particularly on the ground or in background scenery such as mountains or trees. This is because increasing the physical size or number of textures in a game can have a negative impact on the performance of a GPU. PRT is a radical technology that hopes to break this cycle.

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't ask for better

Pros: Got this for my rig and just performs beautifully. Relatively low noise level as well. It can run just about anything I throw at it. I am really satisfied with this, so much so that I am about to buy a second one and crossfire them.

Cons: In truth their is none. Maybe not being able to run a few games on high/max? Solution: Crossfire.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat video card for the price!

Pros: Great video card for the price. I upgraded from a HIS HD 6870 and noticed a great improvement in FPS. I may consider buying another one. Purchased XFX for the lifetime warranty as my HIS HD 6870 died 1 month before the warranty expired and didn't want to worry about that happening again.

Cons: I like to play CSGO on max saturation (200), however there is an issue where the saturation level will default back to 100 when the game launches. The only way I can get max saturation to work is to alt+tab a few times and it will eventually stick.

This seems to be a common issue with amd cards, but not Nvidia.

5 out of 5 eggsNothing to not like

Pros: I used this in a pc I built to replace a dying xbox, so I wasn't looking for anything intense. I wanted something that would work first and make games pretty second. It does both of these just fine. For reference, the most demanding game I play is Ryse.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsRMA nightmare

Pros: Would be a great budget card if It worked

Cons: no reliability whatsoever, no phone number to reach XFX at for quick customer service a RMA nightmare

Other Thoughts: I have owned the HD7870 and received a new R9 270X as a replacment, since owning my HD7870 I have sent back a GPU 3 times I warn you strongly if you are considering this GPU for your build to be aware that this card is unreliable and other GPU's deserve your money

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Dana,

We're truly sorry you have had issues iwth your cards. F

or future reference: Our 800 number can be found by googling XFX or simply going to xfxsupport.com. 800 880 3225.

The 270x Curacao GPU is not the same as the 7870 Pitcairn. If you've had 3 failures so quickly, you may want to consider have your powersupply tested.

2 out of 5 eggsComputer sleeps, never wakes up - known issue with this card

Pros: The card performs great at it's pricepoint. Installation was easy, the card runs cool and quiet, and I am overall happy with it's gaming performance.

Cons: The huge, and unfortunate con, is that the card suffers from what appears to be a known issue. I set my monitors to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity. About 50% of the time, the computer will not wake up. It either freezes immediately (leaving black screen and unresponsiveness) or it flickers a few times before throwing a BSOD.

Google search for "R270x" and BIOS updates. People all over the internet are claiming similar problems. I have updated to the latest BIOS of 015.044, but no luck so far in getting this stable.

I have found the best combination to be BIOS 0.15.044 and Catalyst 14.4. Newer versions of Catalyst tend to trigger the problem more frequently.

Doing further Google research will show the issue seems to plague all brands of this card (Saphire, XFX, etc). It also seems to span the entire R2xx series.

I have had the card for several months and I've about had it. I will probably need to replace the card with a different brand.

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 64-bit
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H
Intel i7

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Dan,

We're sorry you are having sleep mode issues or power saving issues with your card. It is not considered a "known issue" because its usually caused by motherboard and PSU combinations not handshaking correctly when powering back on from an idle state.

There are many ways to correct this. From bios updates for your motherboard, to simply changing the power settings so windows is forced to re-handshake on the units.

Please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com if you need any help troubleshooting this.

1 out of 5 eggsExpected Better!

Pros: 1 star for at least 1 good working card.
Had better Newegg service before this issue. Something has changed in there practice I guess. Will never do business again with them.

Cons: Received 2 cards and 1 was DOA. Saved money to purchase all parts to build new PC. I had sent away the UPC for rebates and was denied my graphics card RMA. I have been a NEWEGG customer for gosh who knows how long; and spent $1000's and thousands of dollars.; Well no more. RMA was denied and took over 10days to return my graphics card back to me as a premier member no apologies or nothing never wanted a refund just a working card and in the end got nothing but frustration. Well good luck. Newegg said contact manufacture for assistance. First thing back from XFX was well its under warranty and should be returned to NEWEGG. Well after explaining in 1 email all issues XFX issued me a full RMA and assistance for a replacement card.

Other Thoughts: No longer a customer and will stop paying for premium membership. Very unfortunate it has come down to this.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We're sorry you are having issues with your 270x. Have you already been setup with an RMA to return it to us?

If not, please create a ticket at xfxsupport.com and email me the ticket # so i can issue you an RMA.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is a 6 egg card!

Pros: My XFX 7870 broke down couple months ago after using it for quite a long time. Luckily, XFX has 2 year limited or lifetime warranty on all of their graphic cards, one of the main reason why I chose them. When they couldn't fix my XFX 7870, they sent me a new R9 270X card. Wait, what?! They replaced my 7870 card for a R9 270X? YEP!

The story gets better! My old setup was crossfire 7870 and since only one of my old card broke down, XFX told me to send in the other 7870 for a R9 270X so I can continue crossfiring them.
WOW. Are you kidding me? Another new card replacement for free? (aside that I had to pay shipping, but hey, who's complaining when you get 2 new R9 270X under their warranty)

Excellent customer support and will continue to buy higher-end XFX cards when I build a new computer.

Aside from their excellent support, the card works wonder. Probably the best gaming budget GPU you can get for your money worth. I can run almost every game on max setting and probably medium-high setting on the more intensive first person shooter games. You won't regret it if you buy this card!

P.S. Make sure you always register your GPU! It has lifetime warranty! If you don't, it's only 2 years.

Cons: I don't think there is any con? The card breaks down, send it into warranty!

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied Customer

Pros: This is a solid card for the price I paid on it. It's run many of the games I've picked up flawlessly (mind you, they're last generation titles I'm catching up on). It overclocks fairly decently and doesn't create much heat, even in a prebuilt Dell XPS I put it in. Good card overall.

Cons: None that come to mind. All the things people complain about with AMD cards being hot or noisy haven't really popped up to me in any of my play throughs or benchmarks.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from the prebuilt's video card of an Nvidia GT 640 and it outperforms it by leagues and bounds. Solid card for a budget build if you can catch this puppy on sale.
