XFX Ghost Thermal 2.0 Technology

The New and Improved Floating Heatsink Design of XFX Graphics Cards Provides the Ultimate Cooling Solution

XFX's exclusive ghost thermal 2.0 design creates a floating heatsink with open airflow between the PCB and the cover so that air can quickly ventilate off the card while simultaneously cooling the core process and the components. We've also made major advances from our first generation which includes a heat tested light weight plastic to create an overall lighter thermal which reduces the physical strain on your GPU.

Up to 13dB Quieter and 45°F (7°C) Cooler Than Our Competitors

The Exclusive XFX Double Dissipation Design is Cooler and Quieter than Others

XFX's exclusive dual fan double dissipation design utilizes two larger fans which run at slower RPM than comparable single fan solutions which must run at much higher RPMs just to barely achieve the same cooling needs. Because of this design, XFX is able to achieve up to 13dB lower noise than the competitor while simultaneously increasing the overall cooling by 45°F (7°C).

Only AMD Radeon™ Dual Graphics combines two powerful Radeon™ DirectX 11.2-enabled graphics processors to provide the ultimate gaming performance boost when you need it.

Six Times the Tesselation Technology

The Details of Tesselations can Make the Difference Between a Flat Dull Surface and a Realistic Bumpy Surface

XFX graphics cards offer the highest Tesselation capabilities while still maintaining the higest performance. We don't sacrifice one for the other so you can expect to get the riches detail in your games without slowing down your gaming experience. See bumpy roads, textured fabrics and realistic rippling waters with high tesselated graphics from XFX.

Improved Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing MSAA Technology

Smooth Lines Make All the Difference Between Itty Bitty Low-Quality Graphics Versus Smooth Realistic Graphics

MSAA smooths out the jagged edges of a curved object. A black curved line on a white background displayed on a computer screen will have some jaggedness along its edges due to the inherent limitations of using discrete pixels to display the image. Anti-aliasing smooths out this jaggedness by filling in the white spaces between the jagged edges with varying shades of gray which gives you the smooth soft shadows, crisp sharp lines of buildings, and crisp tiny details in clothing that make your experience truly realistic.

Bullet Physics Engine Technology

Get the Most Out of Your Gaming Experience with Real 3D Physics

Take advantage of the 3D Physics capabilities of some of today's newest titles which include completely destructible objects, walls and buildings collapsing from gun fire, real particle effects such as fire that react to the environment and realistic details such as moving hair, water and much more.

Compatible with the Newest Direct X Technology

Meets the Standards of the Newest Games with the Latest Direct X Driver Compatibility

With every new generation of Direct X, major improvements are made which greatly advance the graphics capabilities of games. That's why it is essential to ensure that you are using a graphics card with the newest Direct X driver compatibility so that you'll get the most out of your gaming experience. See the difference for yourself.

Partially Resident Textures PRT Technology

Radically Change the Detail of Your Games from Flat to Realistic

Even in the latest titles, gamers may have noticed that games often reuse or repeat textures, particularly on the ground or in background scenery such as mountains or trees. This is because increasing the physical size or number of textures in a game can have a negative impact on the performance of a GPU. PRT is a radical technology that hopes to break this cycle.

4 out of 5 eggsA decent card

Pros: Well the card has decent performance and the nice XFX warranty. Despite already being an over clocked 270 i managed to push mine an extra 155 MHz in the gpu core yet the memory clock can only be pushed 25 MHz before issues appear.

My temps on the card are great but not what they used to be when the card was brand new. Using 45% fan speed idle was 28C but has now gone to 31c and load temps hang at 70c while keeping my fan speed constant at 45%. Could get lower if i upped the fan speed as the fans themselves arent that loud (my case has five other fans that easily cover up the sound but not loud enough to bother me).

Cons: Now we hit the issues. The memory really cant be overclocked at all. once you push it a bit you will get crashes. Gpu can overclock about 10% before things get hectic. Another thing is the build quality of the card bothers me. The fan shroud seems very cheap and creaky. When the fan speed gets pushed to 55% the shroud vibrates in my case and gets louder than all my fans which is annoying. The DVI input screw sockets tend to vibrate loose as well so i just stick with using HDMI.

3 out of 5 eggsLoud

Pros: After having a few ati cards fails I started buying XFX's Double D's; you got to love that they will stand behind the card. I also like the value even though XFX is not a price leader the Warranty makes them the best buy.

Cons: Having bought a 4870, 5770, 7770, and a 7870 through the years this one is loud. Too loud even playing Civ5. My other cards would rarely get loud playing.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the review.

If your fan is getting noisy, please let us know and we should be able to send out a replacement set of fans.

5 out of 5 eggs270x need no more for now.

Pros: I was able to play these games on high/ ultra settings; Team Fortress, All Call of duties, Far Cry 3, and Need for Speed Rivals.

On medium/ high I was able to eyefinity with higher frames rates (low lag, still playable) on; Need for Speed Rivals, Tomb Raider (2014), Thief 2, as well as COD Ghosts.

Cons: The card hits 60c avg. while gaming (not on eyefinity) and 35c (idle)

This is not that high but I expected lower in the case it is in.
Ambient temps at 24c

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upgrade

Pros: Upgraded from my old HD 5770 to a retail-exclusive version (it was on sale - same price as here with no rebate + 4 free games). Absolutely excellent card. No lag, no crashes, no driver issues, no heat issues. My only advice is to make sure you have room for this card - it *barely* fit my mid-tower case (a relatively roomy mid-tower). Aside from that, I was able to install the drivers without issue on Windows 7 and then performed a system upgrade to the Tech Preview of Windows 10. I upgraded the drivers to the latest from AMD and tested a few games - Fallout 3, Skyrim (with HD DLC), Mass Effect 3, Sleeping Dogs. No issues. No crazy temperatures. 7.9 WEI score before the upgrade to Win10.

Cons: This is a VERY large card. Measure the space you have before you buy it - I can easily see someone unboxing it only to find that it does not fit their case. No cons aside from that.

Other Thoughts: If you're having driver issues, try the following steps. I've had similar issues in the past but this has never failed to work for me:

1. Uninstall current nVidia/AMD device (physically remove + uninstall associated software - run on native motherboard/cpu video if possible).
2. Restart the computer.
3. Run CCleaner and clean not only the files but also the registry as well.
4. Restart the computer.
5. Physically install new device and boot up system
6. Install latest drivers from AMD site
7. Restart computer

These steps can be time-consuming but very worth it because of the stability this process can provide. Conflicting video drivers can cause a lot of issues with a new card.

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't ask for better

Pros: Got this for my rig and just performs beautifully. Relatively low noise level as well. It can run just about anything I throw at it. I am really satisfied with this, so much so that I am about to buy a second one and crossfire them.

Cons: In truth their is none. Maybe not being able to run a few games on high/max? Solution: Crossfire.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat video card for the price!

Pros: Great video card for the price. I upgraded from a HIS HD 6870 and noticed a great improvement in FPS. I may consider buying another one. Purchased XFX for the lifetime warranty as my HIS HD 6870 died 1 month before the warranty expired and didn't want to worry about that happening again.

Cons: I like to play CSGO on max saturation (200), however there is an issue where the saturation level will default back to 100 when the game launches. The only way I can get max saturation to work is to alt+tab a few times and it will eventually stick.

This seems to be a common issue with amd cards, but not Nvidia.

5 out of 5 eggsNothing to not like

Pros: I used this in a pc I built to replace a dying xbox, so I wasn't looking for anything intense. I wanted something that would work first and make games pretty second. It does both of these just fine. For reference, the most demanding game I play is Ryse.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsRMA nightmare

Pros: Would be a great budget card if It worked

Cons: no reliability whatsoever, no phone number to reach XFX at for quick customer service a RMA nightmare

Other Thoughts: I have owned the HD7870 and received a new R9 270X as a replacment, since owning my HD7870 I have sent back a GPU 3 times I warn you strongly if you are considering this GPU for your build to be aware that this card is unreliable and other GPU's deserve your money

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Dana,

We're truly sorry you have had issues iwth your cards. F

or future reference: Our 800 number can be found by googling XFX or simply going to 800 880 3225.

The 270x Curacao GPU is not the same as the 7870 Pitcairn. If you've had 3 failures so quickly, you may want to consider have your powersupply tested.

If you have any questions, please let us know.
