XFX Ghost Thermal 2.0 Technology

The New and Improved Floating Heatsink Design of XFX Graphics Cards Provides the Ultimate Cooling Solution

XFX's exclusive ghost thermal 2.0 design creates a floating heatsink with open airflow between the PCB and the cover so that air can quickly ventilate off the card while simultaneously cooling the core process and the components. We've also made major advances from our first generation which includes a heat tested light weight plastic to create an overall lighter thermal which reduces the physical strain on your GPU.

See bumpy roads, textured fabrics and realistic rippling waters with high tesselated graphics from XFX.

Improved Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing MSAA Technology

Smooth Lines Make All the Difference Between Itty Bitty Low-Quality Graphics Versus Smooth Realistic Graphics

MSAA smooths out the jagged edges of a curved object. A black curved line on a white background displayed on a computer screen will have some jaggedness along its edges due to the inherent limitations of using discrete pixels to display the image. Anti-aliasing smooths out this jaggedness by filling in the white spaces between the jagged edges with varying shades of gray which gives you the smooth soft shadows, crisp sharp lines of buildings, and crisp tiny details in clothing that make your experience truly realistic.

Bullet Physics Engine Technology

Get the Most Out of Your Gaming Experience with Real 3D Physics

Take advantage of the 3D Physics capabilities of some of today's newest titles which include completely destructible objects, walls and buildings collapsing from gun fire, real particle effects such as fire that react to the environment and realistic details such as moving hair, water and much more.

Compatible with the Newest Direct X Technology

Meets the Standards of the Newest Games with the Latest Direct X Driver Compatibility

With every new generation of Direct X, major improvements are made which greatly advance the graphics capabilities of games. That's why it is essential to ensure that you are using a graphics card with the newest Direct X driver compatibility so that you'll get the most out of your gaming experience. See the difference for yourself.

Partially Resident Textures PRT Technology

Radically Change the Detail of Your Games from Flat to Realistic

Even in the latest titles, gamers may have noticed that games often reuse or repeat textures, particularly on the ground or in background scenery such as mountains or trees. This is because increasing the physical size or number of textures in a game can have a negative impact on the performance of a GPU. PRT is a radical technology that hopes to break this cycle.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card with great value; top-notch XFX support

Pros: When I bought this card, I could not find a better performing card at this price point (the after-rebate price was similar, although I got 1 free game instead of 2, so it may be an even better deal now). Immediately prior to purchasing this card, I had a XFX single fan model and then upgraded to a "double dissipation" (dual fan) model. The dual fan model is much quieter because the fans run at slower speeds. Running monitoring software, the graphics card temperature and fan speed aren't taxed unless I run crazy benchmarks that I can't replicate in real world gaming. I can run every single game I play at the highest quality settings and never seem to get below the 90-120 FPS range. Lifetime warranty transferable to one other owner. XFX support is very responsive.

Cons: I mentioned the "rake" issue. Forgot to mention that moving the mouse pointer over to the second monitor or right edge of the screen would fix the issue. Did some research, and it appears the issue may be related to a second monitor. I was using a very old 19 inch 1280x1024 as a second screen but have since reverted to a single 24 inch display. Will try a fresh driver install with single monitor setup to see if that gets rid of the rake.

Other Thoughts: I also previously mentioned the rebate troubles I was having. As you can see immediately below, XFX support both e-mailed me and left a message on my review to contact them regarding any rebate-related issues. I promptly did, and the rebates I was having trouble with were approved instantly. XFX support is very responsive and helpful.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, Thank you for the great review, we appreciate it!

If you have any questions, please let us know.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: Never had a problem with a XFX graphics card before, and this one is no different. There is something about ATI/AMD's Catalyst drivers that causes some weird issues with certain games, like Dota 2 (where the cursor turns into something that looks like a rake). Performance-wise it's completely fine, and price point is good. XFX also provides lifetime warranty and lets you transfer it to one owner, so you can sell the card and transfer ownership of the warranty once.

Cons: ATI/AMD Catalyst drivers have certain problems nVidia drivers don't.

This is not a con re: the card itself, but I have a very low success rate when it comes to getting XFX (4myrebates, or Worldwide Rebate Processing Center Inc.) to honor my rebates. Doesn't matter how meticulously I prepare the rebate form and required materials or send via registered mail. Policy seems to be deny, deny, deny. Out of the 5 or so XFX products I've ordered in the past, I've only had 1 rebate honored (and it was the smallest amount too). Calling into their customer service to try and resolve the issue is a nightmare. Don't rely on the "rebate" when calculating cost.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if vendors like Newegg can exert pressure on XFX about its shoddy rebate track record, but if you guys can, please do! Most people forget to submit their rebates anyway... the people who do submit them, and submit them correctly, should have their rebates honored.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Sean,

We're sorry you get the rake on some games, however a corrupt driver can sometimes be the cause. We may be able to help you with that.

Our Rebate track record should be 100%. If you have any rebates that were not honored for whatever reason, please email us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com and we will sort out each rebate for you.

Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsNot top of the line but top noch

Pros: I play skyrim elder scrolls, Bf3/4 & Cod WAW and Cod as well as Bf3/4 I can run this card with maxed out settings without issues. Thinking of getting a second card and running xfire mode especially once I buy the new cpu, mem, and mobo for my system. I didn't purchase this on Newegg, I went to Best Buy and they obligated Neweggs price for this card at the time I bought it.

Cons: Only issue I had with this card is trying to get my drivers for my Mobo chipset and the drivers for this card as well as catalyst control center to work in unison. I'm not taking an egg off for that issue cause once I get them to work together it runs great. Sometimes when playing Skyrim or BF4 I do get some tearing issues when looking through the scope at long distances with bf4 and don't know why, and I had issues of lag in game but I think that was due to the Sata 2 wd hard drive I was playing the game off of. I now have a SSD drive and I don't get anything but smooth game play except network lag on occasion.

Other Thoughts: My system, AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 6-Core 3.3GHz, MSI MSI 970A-G46 AM3+ AMD 970 , This card, Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model 998995, Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler. 240mm, Samsung Evo 250gb SSD, WD Scorpion Black 750gb 2.5" Gaming HDD, and 2 LG Dvd+/-Rw Double layer Sata drives running on a Vizio 24" Led 1080p HDTV through an HDMI cable.

2 out of 5 eggsMy first purchase I regret making on NewEgg

Pros: It was cheapest card available under the R9-270X label.

Cons: Only one DVI port works. XFX customer support is frustrating to work with.

Other Thoughts: I bought the card on 07/26/2014. I had only a day to build a new system test it out and send the UPC before the rebate expired. After sending the rebate in I tried to connect a second monitor and found the picture contains glitches or is completely black. Tried several different monitors. Tried only using the DVI port in question. Tried different cables, software settings and driver versions. Nothing fixed the problem.

Contacted XFX customer service. First they tell me I need to use an active adapter if I want to connect a DVI monitor to the DVI port. After explaining I'm not trying to use the display port. They told me I would have to return the card to NewEgg.

Returned the product to NewEgg, waited a few weeks for the RMA process. Now NewEgg tells me they can't replace the card, because I don't have the UPC. Not only am I out the shipping cost, I think I'm going to be stuck with a card that has never worked correctly.

Manufacturer Response:

Helo,

we're sorry you had issues with this card. I'm not sure why a technician would tell you to use an adapter, unless you were trying to run 3 monitors. Please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com. If the card is faulty, we can always get it replaced under the XFX Warranty.

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Product.

Pros: -Runs well stays cool.
-Smooth game-play on my games.
-Awsome capability
(Ran 8 different vm's all playing games came out rendered)
-Price is aight.

Would give a five star but no direct from manufacturer options

Cons: -Heavy, itty bit of sag after a year.
-200+ Npc's in about six inches of screen caused slight frame rate drop but it recovered.

-I don't own more.

Other Thoughts: -Poor customer support on new eggs part.
-Free gift caused problems with my pre-paid card.
-Problems wont be fixed for a week and my 4 computers will be put behind completion schedule, New-egg wont give me a department lead to fix the problem.
-lost money on taxi and cheque fees only too not receive the discount on the graphic cards and gained a bigger loss in the end.
-Temporarily new egg has 315 of my dollars.
*Well I got jack.

*Gross time in general, second time I had newegg have problems with my order.

Around 4 grand spent in the last year with a plan to spend three times that on my computer related needs, Probably wont shop new-egg again.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We're sorry you had issues with your purchase. If we can help with any GPU related issues, let us know.

Pros: In the highest quality setting in games that I own, over 90 fps while keeping quiet and cool.

Cons: I can't add more sense I maxed my case for gpus.

That's it

Other Thoughts: Got a good deal on this gpu.

Beats all if not most nvidea gpus in the same price range. Hard to beat

5 out of 5 eggsfollow up

Pros: Great, forget when i bought this but it's been a few months at least. Still rocking and my cpu (fx 8350) bottlenecks this thing about 80% of the time.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Over clocks alright, mines litecoin at about 400 kh/s, dark coin at about 2 mh/s. Decided to get a used Reference xfx r9 290a enfc for 280 to the door. For mining darkcoin and an upgrade for when i play games. This 290 should unlock to a 290x witha bios flash, we'll see when i get it.

Anyways I highly recommend this card unless you can spare the extra 100 and are willing to buy used, then go big or go home :)

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Cards

Pros: The cards have very, very good heat dissipation and hot air removal at the expense of size. The card is rather large, but it does have two big fans and A LOT of copper.

They're very easy to manipulate. I have my fans set to custom speeds and the core clocks upped slightly because I have the fans to facilitate a little overclocking. That's all through catalyst of course, and if you don't have it, make sure you get the latest drivers and the raptr software.

Cons: In relation to the power of the card, it's rather large.

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these about 5 months ago from best buy, and bought and got another one today. I hooked them both up, and I noticed a performance increase. Nothing incredible, but It certainly is something. With the downing of depth of field and shadow res to normal on Tomb Raider, I get 60-70 fps with everything else on Ultra, but that is probably because I'm a little short handed on the CPU end of things. I'm happy with this build, mostly because I'm done throwing money at it, but If you're going to get a 270x, I would recommend Sapphire. Sorry XFX, but their cards are cheaper, go on sale more often, and are considerably smaller. I would not have ran into the problems I did installing my two XFX's if they had been smaller, and being cheaper would have been a bonus. With the payout that I payed, I think I overpayed a little on the performance I got, but with other card companies, you could get more then what you payed for. Not saying I'm not happy with what I got, but I feel like an Nvidia buyer that overpayed for hardware.

Thank you for the great review, we appreciate the positive feedback.
