5 out of 5 eggsfollow up

Pros: Great, forget when i bought this but it's been a few months at least. Still rocking and my cpu (fx 8350) bottlenecks this thing about 80% of the time.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Over clocks alright, mines litecoin at about 400 kh/s, dark coin at about 2 mh/s. Decided to get a used Reference xfx r9 290a enfc for 280 to the door. For mining darkcoin and an upgrade for when i play games. This 290 should unlock to a 290x witha bios flash, we'll see when i get it.

Anyways I highly recommend this card unless you can spare the extra 100 and are willing to buy used, then go big or go home :)

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Cards

Pros: The cards have very, very good heat dissipation and hot air removal at the expense of size. The card is rather large, but it does have two big fans and A LOT of copper.

They're very easy to manipulate. I have my fans set to custom speeds and the core clocks upped slightly because I have the fans to facilitate a little overclocking. That's all through catalyst of course, and if you don't have it, make sure you get the latest drivers and the raptr software.

Cons: In relation to the power of the card, it's rather large.

Other Thoughts: I bought one of these about 5 months ago from best buy, and bought and got another one today. I hooked them both up, and I noticed a performance increase. Nothing incredible, but It certainly is something. With the downing of depth of field and shadow res to normal on Tomb Raider, I get 60-70 fps with everything else on Ultra, but that is probably because I'm a little short handed on the CPU end of things. I'm happy with this build, mostly because I'm done throwing money at it, but If you're going to get a 270x, I would recommend Sapphire. Sorry XFX, but their cards are cheaper, go on sale more often, and are considerably smaller. I would not have ran into the problems I did installing my two XFX's if they had been smaller, and being cheaper would have been a bonus. With the payout that I payed, I think I overpayed a little on the performance I got, but with other card companies, you could get more then what you payed for. Not saying I'm not happy with what I got, but I feel like an Nvidia buyer that overpayed for hardware.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Got this card for a new custom build and I'm very happy with it so far. Another reviewer mentioned an 850-watt PSU and I agree with that. When getting everything together I went with an 850-watt to make sure this card was adequately powered and haven't been disappointed.

I've been playing a lot of games and they all look gorgeous. For the price, this is a fantastic card.

Cons: None so far

5 out of 5 eggsEGGGGGCELLENT!

Pros: So this is an update to my other two poor reviews.

I first got a card that emitted burning smells. The distributor replaced it. Then that card emitted the same smells after 3 weeks. This time I RMAed it to XFX. XFX replaced it but the replacement card overheated (first to 99C, then later to 101C!). XFX had me replace the thermal paste and rerun the test. 96C this time, which is 1C over the max this card should go. So, I RMAed this card too. They sent me a new card to replace and this runs UNDER 60C and handles everything I've tossed at it so far very well (even Far Cry 3 on 1920x1080 Ultra, despite what the other reviewer said).

All-in-all, I am very happy with XFX technical service. Tons of patience and very willing to work with me.

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: Also used a XFX HD 6870, which also performs great for its age.

1 out of 5 eggsawful...

Pros: it can run low quality games on the highest quality well.. and thats all

Cons: This card boasts that it can run fairly high quality games, when i cant even run a game like far cry 3 on low settings with out this card crashing my system... i am extremely dissatisfied with this purchase i bought this combo with the hopes that i would finally be able to play any game at least on decent settings, this card wont let me run anything without completely crashing my computer....

Other Thoughts: dont but this card and read reviews before you purchase anything

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

This sounds like a case of software issues. Please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com for a quick troubleshooting/fix guide. I am certain we can help resolve this.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate on replacement XFX R9 270X

Pros: Good performance

Cons: So as an update to my last 1 star review for TWO XFX R9 270Xs that produced burning smells that engulfed the entire living room, I am giving this replacement card a... 1 star as well. This one hits 99C in a 74F room. Running 3 120mm fans into case and 3 120mm fans out, with one that actually provides great airflow directly to the card. But when I place my hand by the exhaust port of the card while the fans are at 100%, there's barely any flow. This tells me that this thing does not push sufficient air at all. The heatsink looks aluminum too, while the heat pipes are copper. I've run the card for 2 weeks since receiving it from the RMA department. No visible dust anywhere (including on the other components because I vacuum the sucker quite regularly).

Other Thoughts: They better not make me pay shipping for the RMA again...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat GPU

Pros: If you game at 1920x1080 this GPU should pretty much max everything out with no problem. Runs cool & quite.

Cons: Didn't get my rebate from XFX, they said that I didn't include the UPC which is funny because I cut it from the box. But that's ok, I can just using Sapphire GPU's.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for great review and feedback. If you are having issues with the rebate company (Not XFX), please contact us and we will help resolve your issue.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: I am updating my last review. I got my new card and it is awesome. It actually is very quiet I was very suprised.
Love the digital bios this is my forst machine to use to overclock and this bios makes is soooo easy.

Cons: Now that my machine is up and running how it should I have no cons except it is quite large and blocks the lower pci slot and sata connectors. I am not using those so it isnt s big issue for me.

Manufacturer Response:

Excellent.

Thank you for the great review. We appreciate your feedback.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for the cost

Pros: This card performs well and keeps cool. Overclocking is very easy with AMD overdrive. I am running beta drivers without any issues.

As a full time mechanical/electrical engineer with a background in microelectronics, I can say this card was fabricated with great attention to detail and quality.

Runs most modern games on high/ultra. Battlefield 4 runs well on ultra with AA off. Breezes through games that use the source engine. Scored quite relatively high in benchmarks.

Cons: None - this is a good time to pick up this card with a $199 price tag. Mine was $220.

Other Thoughts: **Check your wattage on your power supply. I had a 650 watt, but had to upgrade to an 850 watt to fully utilize this card. The guy who left a review about a burnt electronic smell.. it might be your psu.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review Toast, We appreciate your kind words.

1 out of 5 eggsBurning smells

Pros: Hmm...

Cons: This is my second R9-270X-CDFC in two months. The first one emitted a burning smell immediately after running the first game on it at 69C. The smell engulfed my living room. Fortunately, the distributor RMAed it. The new replacement came and was fine for about two weeks before it also started emitting a burning smell at 74C Of course, this time, the RMA period from the distributor had expired, so my only choice was to RMA it with XFX. I'm realizing now why they run rebates on these things... so WE can pay for the RMA shipping back to them with the rebate we receive. How convenient eh? The distributor was nice enough to give me a return shipping label, but XFX won't. Hmmm... Waiting for the replacement card and crossing my finger that the third card is the charm... Oh and they take quite a long time to return messages via the online system, so I recommend you create a ticket online just to get a number and then call them at 1-800-880-3225.

Other Thoughts: Had a XFX HD6870 before it that did just fine in the same conditions and the R9-270X is basically an HD 7870. I wonder if the R9 line has issues?

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Neoshi,

We're sorry your last two cards smelled funny. We would be happy to investigate this for you.

Thank you
