XFX Ghost Thermal 2.0 Technology

The New and Improved Floating Heatsink Design of XFX Graphics Cards Provides the Ultimate Cooling Solution

XFX's exclusive ghost thermal 2.0 design creates a floating heatsink with open airflow between the PCB and the cover so that air can quickly ventilate off the card while simultaneously cooling the core process and the components. We've also made major advances from our first generation which includes a heat tested light weight plastic to create an overall lighter thermal which reduces the physical strain on your GPU.

Up to 13dB Quieter and 45°F (7°C) Cooler Than Our Competitors

The Exclusive XFX Double Dissipation Design is Cooler and Quieter than Others

XFX's exclusive dual fan double dissipation design utilizes two larger fans which run at slower RPM than comparable single fan solutions which must run at much higher RPMs just to barely achieve the same cooling needs. Because of this design, XFX is able to achieve up to 13dB lower noise than the competitor while simultaneously increasing the overall cooling by 45°F (7°C).

Only AMD Radeon™ Dual Graphics combines two powerful Radeon™ DirectX 11.2-enabled graphics processors to provide the ultimate gaming performance boost when you need it.

6X Tesselation Technology

The Details of Tesselations can Make the Difference Between a Flat, Dull Surface and a Realistic Bumpy Surface

XFX graphics cards offer the highest tesselation capabilities while still maintaining the higest performance. We don't sacrifice one for the other so you can expect to get the riches detail in your games without slowing down your gaming experience. See bumpy roads, textured fabrics and realistic rippling waters with high tesselated graphics from XFX.

Improved Multi Sample Anti-Aliasing MSAA Technology

Smooth Lines Make All the Difference Between Itty-Bitty Low Quality Graphics Versus Smooth, Realistic Graphics

MSAA smooths out the jagged edges of a curved object. A black curved line on a white background displayed on a computer screen will have some jaggedness along its edges due to the inherent limitations of using discrete pixels to display the image. Anti-aliasing smooths out this jaggedness by filling in the white spaces between the jagged edges with varying shades of gray which gives you the smooth soft shadows, crisp sharp lines of buildings, and crisp tiny details in clothing that make your experience truly realistic.

Bullet Physics Engine Technology

Get the Most Out of Your Gaming Experience with Real 3D Physics

Take advantage of the 3D Physics capabilities of some of today's newest titles which include completely destructible objects, walls and buildings collapsing from gun fire, real particle effects such as fire that react to the environment and realistic details such as moving hair, water and much more.

Compatible with the newest Direct X Technology

Meets the Standards of the Newest Games with the Latest Direct X Driver Compatibility

With every new generation of Direct X, major improvements are made which greatly advance the graphics capabilities of games. That's why it is essential to ensure that you are using a graphics card with the newest Direct X driver compatibility so that you'll get the most out of your gaming experience. See the difference for yourself.

Partially Resident Textures PRT Technology

Radically Change the Detail of Your Games from Flat to Realistic

Even in the latest titles, gamers may have noticed that games often reuse or repeat textures, particularly on the ground or in background scenery such as mountains or trees. This is because increasing the physical size or number of textures in a game can have a negative impact on the performance of a GPU. PRT is a radical technology that hopes to break this cycle.

5 out of 5 eggsIm Lovin It

Pros: renders most DX11 games 30fps-60fps at 1080 Ultra (paired with a decent system of course).
8XAA with no cost fps at 1080!
Nice image quality, colors.
Power efficient (150W) runs on my 400W PSU
Drivers seem stable
Reliable hardware
Nicely built, looks sleek.
Over-clocks easily with MSI Afterburner

Cons: By default my throttles its speed rather than raise fan speeds.
That created performance lags at first, til I installed MSI Afterburner to setup the fan profile to run better. Then the performance improved.

Other Thoughts: bought mine used (clean) from a cryptominer. The card never skipped a beat.

stable overclock: core 1018mhz.
mem 1460mhz
Enermax ELT400AWT PSU (duel 20amp 12v rails)
Intel Xeon X5460 quad 4.2ghz air cooled 120mm
Hyper-X DDR-1066 5-5-5 4GB
Kingston 64GB V-series
Windows 7 32
older system tweaked to play latest games at 1080 on Ultra

3 out of 5 eggsGreat card but... problems?

Pros: Pro's;

great card runs all the games I've come to play so far;
Ark: survival evolved, LoL, WoW, The Forest, CS:GO and multitudes of others.

Cons: CONS!:
after about 14 months, after playing Ark : survival evolved, (game is very beta, and isn't fine tuned yet), for 5 hours, previously played about 200 hours of said game, the card begun to make a very loud a deliberate Clicking noise everytime i pulled up a game that was GPU intensive.

it DOES NOT affect gameplay, still gives the typical 300+ frames in CS:GO/league, and multitudes of other games, but it is VERY worrying to hear such a sound come from this card.

Other Thoughts: Other things to add;

The card is very huge, be prepared for ZERO room, and make sure to have a COOL environment for this gpu, as it gets VERY VERY hot.

Love the card, Faulty fans/fan work after a yearish of playing on it.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Mary,

Thank you for the review. It sounds like one of your fans is rubbing on a cable or cord. Please check the clearance of the fans to find out what is causing the sound

If you have any questions, please let us know

Card is quite loud under load but is to be expected

2 out of 5 eggsCheap and low quality

Pros: Attractive and lightweight

Cons: Driver CD gave me black screens

Card arrived bent

Card gets HOT, my case is well ventilated but even so, temperatures ranged from 50c at idle, and 80c+ under load. Though this could be due to card arriving damaged.

Cheap and flimsy feel.

Other Thoughts: Card gave me too many problems, returned it and opted for a slightly less powerful MSI R7 265 and I'm loving it.

Manufacturer Response:

We're sorry you are having issues with your 270. If a unit arrives physically damaged, please have it sent back to be replaced.

Sorry for the trouble this has caused you. If you have any questions, please let us know.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Card-Rebate offer is a scam

Pros: Good Card for the money
Performs well on BF4 on Ultra Settings

Cons: This card came with a mail in rebate for 30$-After jumping through all the hoops-i.e.-printing out their form and filling it in,cutting out the upc code on the box, copy of original invoice etc...I get refused because they say it wasn't in the timeframe, but it was and I have proof yet they deny it.Cheap, low down dirty scum-and for that reason it will be the last cent I ever spend on XFX.Greedy F*&^%

Manufacturer Response:

We're sorry you are having issues with your rebate. If you have are still having issues with the Rebate company, please let me know and I will sort it out myself.

5 out of 5 eggsthis card will suprise you at every turn

Pros: don't listen to the people who hate on this card because if your on a budget and werelooking that this card buy a 990 board with dual pcie-x16 @ 8x/8x this card crossfired will rule any thing you throw at them

single card
farcry 4 turned 2 graphics options off 2 medium and all the rest high no vsyn only once in 10 hours has it dropped under 50 fps

have yet to run this game oc to 1050 and yet to let my fx 6300 run above 3.0 waiting for new vrm heat sink

Cons: fans are not the best

Other Thoughts: they were very fast to respond to replacement request

originals on still and some mineral oil will keep it going for at least 6 months

5 out of 5 eggsXFX R9 270 2GB

Pros: Good card runs what I need it to run ,the card I had was a GTX 750 and was a low end card that was bench marking around 3000 where this card was bench marking around 4500 so that's a nice jump .

Cons: I had to send it back to newegg because my screeen was jumping and the DVI was not working . so i,am waiting for a replacement card

Other Thoughts: thing I like about XFX is when you call there tech support there in the U.S.A you don,t get some smuck over in some other country that can,t speak English and has no idea what there talking about , also when I called New egg they where very help-full , In helping me send my card back

Manufacturer Response:

We appareciate the positive feedback.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet spot card

Pros: + Lifetime warranty
+ Best cost to performance ratio currently available in the Radeon lineup
+ 6-pin auxiliary power connection plugs in parallel with the PCB rather than perpendicular like most cards. This is SUCH a better design that all GPUs should orient their power connections this way.
+ Black PCB works with most every color scheme. Thank you XFX for ditching the green PCB
+ Dual fan design keeps this card very quiet, even under load

Cons: - Fan shroud is now made of plastic vs. their older design which was aluminum. No eggs deduced since every other graphics car manufacturer is also using plastic.
- Next to no external exhausting of heated air! If you look at the expansion slot bracket you'll notice that there is precious little venting, only 8 small slots. What you can't immediately tell from the images is that 90% of that tiny venting is actually blocked by a black something-or-other. I suppose it's part of the shroud. This means that pretty much all the heat generated by this card is trapped in the case.
- The RED DVI connection only supports a digital output. DVI-VGA adapters are *not* supported on this port!

Other Thoughts: I installed this card into my sons computer which is built in a Zalman Z9 mid-tower case. The case is equipped with 120mm front intake and rear exhaust fans. It also has copious amounts of venting on both the side panel and top panel of the case. This card idles at about 35 C and when under load will hover around 50 C.

This card replaced an aging EVGA GTS 8800 512MB. This system uses a Gigabyte 78LMT-S2P motherboard. The CPU is an Athlon II X3 450 3.2GHz (stock heatsink). It has 4GB of Crucial Tracer Ballitix DDR 3 1600 RAM. The 320GB Samsung HDD has a SanDisk ReadyCache SSD for caching acceleration.

Unigene Heaven 4.0 benchmark settings:
Resolution of 1920X1080 4xAA full screen
Quality High
Disabled Tessellation

8800 GTS DX9 score 280 / FPS 11.1
R9 270 DX11 score 1068 / FPS 42.4

The benchmark was choppy and paused frequently with the 8800 GTS but with the R9 270 it ran as smooth as butter. Only 2 stutters for the entire benchmark, which were during the torch lit hallway section.

I also ran the 3D Mark Firestrike 1.1 benchmark on this system but only with the R9 270.

Graphics score 5506
Physics score 3395
Combined score 2043

All-in-all I think if you are looking for a solid gamer card for a 1080p, single monitor setup and you want a Radeon card you'd be hard pressed to find a better built, or stronger value than this card. You will have to spend considerably more to get higher perceptible performance.
