5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Mid-tier

Pros: I love this thing. It looks sleek, and all the parts - including the faceplate and fan - look well-made and solid. The card is quiet when not under load and even though it rev's up under stress, it isn't anything noticeable after the card has been given time to adjust. The newest drivers, some hard gaming, and It's nearly quiet until I set everything up to Ultra. It makes some noise then, but I haven't run across any framerate that wasn't buttery-smooth.

Cons: Bit of a pain getting the drivers installed, but I doubt that hasn't been said at some point for every existing video card/gpu in existence.

Other Thoughts: I didn't get the promo games that were sold with it around two hours after I processed my purchase. It'd be nice to have them ( Tomb Raider looks awesome ) but that isn't the fault of Newegg or XFX. Just my poor timing, and in no way a con.

5 out of 5 eggsWow...Just Wow

Pros: Price to power ratio, Surprisingly fast, Despite what others are saying mine seems to be pretty quiet and cool with load temps reaching a peak of 55 C. It can also be overclocked with very little effort though I haven't done it to time yet. Oh yeah and I loved the 2 free game promo I got when I got this card.

Cons: Cons... It won't make me a sandwich and it didn't come with a XFX case badge. Not a R9 series card.

Other Thoughts: When I said it wasn't a R9 series, I already knew that when buying it, but this thing is a little beast of a card. Every game I have thrown at it so far has played on high to ultra settings at 1600x900.

1 out of 5 eggsNot the usefulness I hoped for.

Pros: Nice looking card with plenty of outputs for me.

Cons: I bought this to replace an older Nvidia card I've been running for a long time. My old card had 384 megs of older style memory and ran pretty well for a lot of my Steam games. Some didn't run at all though and I thought a new card with a gig of faster memory would help, So I get this card with more and better memory. Right off the newest Radeon drivers will not work on my system with this card. I also noticed other users were having similar problems with the new driver. I hunted some old drivers and installed them to keep my system running. I 'm no expert but I think the old driver I use now makes this card run like a generic vga card. I really haven't been able to game since I got this card and I already gave my old card away.

Other Thoughts: I'm really sorry this card is not working for me. I didn't give a high rating just for my personal experience. It is probably a combination of my old system (quad core phenom, some kind of Radeon video linking motherboard, etc) and a newer card that just doesn't play well with it.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Tolemo,

We would be happy to help you resolve this issue. There are no known compatiblity issues with this card. It is more likely that you attempted to install the drivers over an antivirus program or windows needs to be updated.

2 out of 5 eggsNot GDDR5

Pros: I like xfx, and have had good luck with their video cards for years now.

Cons: I feel like I have been had. I was looking at this video card on this and another site. decided to go with this one @ $5 more because it had GDDR5 while the other had only DDR5. when I went to remove the other one off of my wish list from the other site, I noticed that they both had the same model number. I sent an email voicing my concerns to newegg@xfxforce.com or whatever the email adx was I saw in their reply on someone else's feedback and did not get a reply. The card came today and clearly states on the box "1GB DDR5"

Other Thoughts: I do really like xfx video cards. I just wish the description would have been correct. DDR5 VS GDDR5 is a difference for sure.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Joe,

We apologize for the confusion. GDDR5 vs. DDR5 is responsible for much confusion indeed, however it is known that they are the exact same things in Graphics cards. Some websites prefer GDDR5, others DDR5, either way, its the same thing.

5 out of 5 eggsGood bang for the buck.

Pros: Works well. Especially considering the price, let's you play most games with decent resolution and mid to ultra settings.

Saw a couple of benchmarks online for this particular card, was able to reproduce the scores to within 0.5%. Which is pretty rare in my opinion.

Running for 2 months no issues.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: When bought, AMD & Steam didn't recognize the card with their auto detect functionality for driver install, which was annoying. However, since 2/24/2014 that issue seems to be resolved.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent performance, loud

Pros: Does exactly what I need it to. I would estimate 50% better performance than my old Radeon 5670 CF setup without the stuttering issues. The card is compact and leaves my SATA ports uncovered.

Cons: Loud. When I game, there is a noise contest going on between game sounds and my card.

Other Thoughts: If you can handle the noise when gaming and need the performance offered by the 260x, this is the one!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Great for the price point vs performance

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: @ Christopher H.

I'm certainly no OS expert so you'll have to excuse me if I use any wrong vernacular.

Of course the cards going to work, whether it be a 32bit or 64 bit system. Unfortunately I don't think you've done enough research into the pro's and con's of 32bit vs. 64bit OS's though from the sound of your problem.

It's certainly not related to the card and therefore should not receive a "lowered" rating based on a pre-mature purchase. Yes the OS will register "2.5GB" RAM because it has to account for the VRAM of the GPU which is 1GB, that being said the OS being 32bit can not register more than a certain amount which is why a 64bit OS is a good choice.

Regardless of what GPU you buy, if it has 1GB of VRAM or more I am pretty sure you're going to have your "2.5GB" memory issue.

5 out of 5 eggsA future proof budget card

Pros: Good power for the price, Runs relatively cool under heavy load even in a Micro-ATX Case (50C-60C at most)

Cons: A little bland looking.

Other Thoughts: It can be a little loud with fan speeds at 100% but I have heard MUCH worse. Don't even notice it when gaming and sound is up.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review! We are glad you are pleased.

3 out of 5 eggsReturned it twice

Pros: Seems to be a pretty decent card from the price.

Cons: I'm not sure if the cards I got were defective, or if my build was just incompatible. The box "Recommends" a 64-bit OS, and I'm running Windows 7 32 bit. It also has a "minimum" of 4GB of RAM. I have 4GB in the machine, but since the RAM on the video card takes away from the RAM on the machine I'm left with only 2.5GB of usable RAM.

Other Thoughts: I suspect this card really requires a 64-bit OS to work. I'd be willing to give it another try if I were building on a 64-bit machine, but I'm returning for a refund now (after already returning one for a replacement to make sure it wasn't just a defective card).

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointment...

Pros: Small, fits well in my Thermaltake Bach case and the cooler looks efficient.

Cons: Video works well but no audio through HDMI. I took out an Asus 6450 which was working fine, doing 720p with audio but replaced it with this card which doesn't do audio. I installed the latest 13.2 Catalyst drivers and even did a fresh install of Windows 7 x64, still not working. Hard to use for an HTPC without sound and now Newegg.ca wont take it back, just exchange for another one which will not work so despite ordering $3500 in gear in the past week, including this XFX card and two other XFX R9 290 for my gaming rig, I'm stuck with a dud and back to my ASUS 6450

Other Thoughts: skip this card, get something else.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, we're sorry you had issues getting your sound working. Typically this is caused by a 3rd party program interfering with your driver install.

Please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com for assistance.

Thank you
