Improved Multi Sample Anti-Aliasing MSAA Technology

Smooth Lines Make All the Difference Between Itty Bitty, Low-Quality Graphics Versus Smooth Realistic Graphics

MSAA smooths out the jagged edges of a curved object. A black curved line on a white background displayed on a computer screen will have some jaggedness along its edges due to the inherent limitations of using discrete pixels to display the image. Anti-aliasing smooths out this jaggedness by filling in the white spaces between the jagged edges with varying shades of gray which gives you the smooth soft shadows, crisp sharp lines of buildings, and crisp tiny details in clothing that make your experience truly realistic.

With every new generation of Direct X, major improvements are made which greatly advance the graphics capabilities of games. That's why it is essential to ensure that you are using a graphics card with the newest Direct X driver compatibility so that you'll get the most out of your gaming experience. Partially Resident Textures PRT Technology

Radically Change the Detail of Your Games from Flat to Realistic

Even in the latest titles, gamers may have noticed that games often reuse or repeat textures, particularly on the ground or in background scenery such as mountains or trees. This is because increasing the physical size or number of textures in a game can have a negative impact on the performance of a GPU. PRT is a radical technology that hopes to break this cycle.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Graphics Card for the money

Pros: I have to rate this 5 eggs. Purchased this card last year and for the money it is well worth it. I would easily say this is equivalent to a GTX 960 however I have fam and friends running a GTX 970 and this card is not far behind in FPS on some games. I would say a gtx 970 is right in line if not slightly below the R9 290/390s (depending on what game or benchmark).

I have had no issues with the card thus far. Card was easy to install, and have had no issues with drivers, over heating, artifacts in games, etc.

Originally purchased to play BF4. I was hitting around 50FPS avg on ultra settings.

Cons: None. For the money this is well worth it.

Other Thoughts: Though the 370x is now more relevant if your on a budget and deciding on getting a 270x or 370x then I would definitely go for it. You will get very palyable FPS. It current modern games you will most likely not reach 60FPS at highest settings but for the money you can't beat it.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review! We are happy you are pleased.

3 out of 5 eggsGood card for the money.

Pros: I bought 2 of these cards, 1 about a year and a half ago, the other just under a year ago. They run every game on ultra pretty well, with only having to adjust certain settings to be lower. I had mine crossfired together and just about anything I played would run at 60-80fps easily.

Cons: 1st card I bought didn't work at all, and now 1 of my 2 cards suddenly died on me in less than a year. I was already planning to upgrade, so it just gave me a reason.

Other Thoughts: Good card for the money, but if you want to do high end gaming, it's worth saving some for a better AMD card or a good Nvidia card.

5 out of 5 eggsBought 3 for 3 builds

Pros: About a 1 years ago I bought one of these for my sons build...then bought one for my build...then bought one for my brothers build (he got the Black). Could not be happier with these cards for what they are in this price point. We all started with AMD 6300's then I up graded to a 4790K and this thing is just a great card. I play BF4 and Arma III. On BF4 I average around 70-80 FPS, with only the important stuff on Ultra (all the other worthless stuff on low/off) and this puppy never skips a beat. I am not sure why anyone would choose any other product in this price point. For what you get, which includes a lifetime warranty, why go elsewhere. Build quality is nice and performance is top notch in this. I am actually looking to upgrade and just cant seem to stray away from XFX. I have been looking at the GTX 970, but keep coming back to the 390 and the XFX. I really am one of those stake and eggs guys, that tend to stick with items that I really like. This card and the XFX line is not Flashing, color wise, which makes it perfect for any build. I have not had any problems with heat or blue screens or anything like that related to this card or the other two card in the other two builds.

Cons: My only small complaint is that my brothers Black version developed an issue where one of the fans was hitting the face plate. We should have set it back, but instead just took the face plate off and it has worked perfectly ever since. The Fa clicking ever effected the cards performance.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for a lower end

Pros: - Price
- Good for the right use case

Cons: NA

Other Thoughts: I'd never bag on a lower end card for being lower end. That just doesn't make sense. So for the right build this is a nice card.

If you're building a gaming rig I'd highly recommend going NVidia over AMD pretty much straight across the board. Look at the GTX960 over this card out of the gate.

However, AMD has its strengths for specific applications like bitcoin mining and other non-gaming apps that utilize GPU processing (with the exception of autocad) and benefit from being able to distribute their workload across more video processing cores without needing a higher clock speed.

The fans are quite when ramped up. Note that like all AMD cards this thing can suck some power and generate some heat when under load. And don't crossfire for gaming, its buggy. Get a single higher end card or jump to SLI with NVidia cards if you want to play the dual video card game.

2 out of 5 eggsNot my cup of tea

Pros: Not hard to install. Ran quiet. Item was as described.

Cons: Not great FPS. My laptop's card was more powerful. I returned the item. If you want a gamer PC this is not your card to run high settings on.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We're sorry you had trouble with your GPU. Performance issues like this are often driver related or simply bottlenecks/settings elsewhere. There are few laptops around that can match a 270x so we've got an issue to address on the PC side. Please contact us for support. I sure we can resolve this quickly.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Graphics Card

Pros: Good card. Performs well and does a very good job running even some of todays titles with ease. Heat generation is on par with the series. Cooling is good as from idle to mid level loads the fans do retain quiet performance.

Cons: Only issues I had were with the drivers and when the card was under mid to heavy loads. Under the loads, the fans would spin up and were loader than my current GTX 960 I have. Driver issues were mainly dealing with occasional crashing while browsing the web or working in some applications.

Other Thoughts: The card is good, and I do like it. I did upgrade for better performance with a GTX 960, but I have transitioned the card over to my son's PC which is running a AMD processor, Motherboard, and now graphics. So far no issue to report there, even with the drivers. Cooling still could use some tweaking on the fan profiles to make them run a little quieter under medium to heavy loads.

1 out of 5 eggsNothing but issues

Pros: I really don't have any at the moment

Cons: I only play 1 game and I crash every time. Tech support blames everything in my PC except their Video card. I've replace the power supply and memory and now I continue to crash every time I play the 3D game but I'm $300 lighter due to replacing power supply and memory.

Other con for me is the location of the power connectors and this won't affect all but I use a desktop box instead of a tower so the power connections on the card are at the top of the case which prevents me from putting the cover back on the computer case.

Other Thoughts: My build.

Main board - Gigabyte 990 FXA UD7
CPU - AMD FX-8350 Vishera core 4 Gb 8 core
PS. - EVGA EVGA 220-P2-1000-XR 80 PLUS Platinum 1000 W
Memory - 4Gb G-Skill ripjaws PC-12800
Case - Lian Li desktop
Intel direct access HD

1 out of 5 eggsKeep shopping

Pros: Works fine for browsing the internet.

Cons: If your a gamer, keep shopping. I bought this card for GTA 5, works great for 30 sec to 10 min but then freezes my system, even while playing team fortress 2. thought maybe it was over heating, or maybe another hardware problem, so i spent hours testing and replacing different hardware to no avail. Slapped my old MSI 7770 in and no problems since. First time buying XFX and will not do it again. Maybe it was just bad luck, but i won't be fooled again. oh wait, i have been fooled again, i have to pay to ship this back, awesome. yeah me.

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Tom,

We're sorry you are having issues with your 270x. Driver wise, the 7770 and 270x are somewhat similiar, so i doubt its that. I would guess either a bad card or a PSU struggling to provide the extra 75 watts.

Either way, the 270x is a fantastic GTA5 card and we want to show you that.

Please contact us for warranty support if you haven't received the replacement alraedy.

3 out of 5 eggsSupport doesn't actually read emails sent

Pros: Excellent FPS and smooth gameplay. Came with 3 games via the AMD promotion, only one of which I ended up playing (Alien Isolation).

Cons: Hate and I mean HATE Catalyst software and especially AMD Evolve bloatware. Don't get me started on unreliable drivers. Never had issue with Nvidia in my life.

Had an issue where no matter what monitor I plugged in to wither DVI output the primary would randomly SCRAMBLE when I moused over to my secondary monitor. I had to reboot to get the darn screen back to normal. HDMI simply would not work at all! (Found that out after the 30 days were up). Epic failure and had no luck finding a solution via support.

Other Thoughts: I sent VERY detailed info and the responses I got indicated that support had ignored much of what I told them. They only replied 3 times then stopped responding. Should have just returned the card but decided to keep trying to troubleshoot on my own and ended up past 30 days. So I boxed it up and will try and sell it. Such a waste of time and money.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Grandmasimulator.

Please send your emails to neweggsupport@xfxforce.com or create a ticket at xfxsupport.com.

Your card should still be in warranty and should have no issues with being offered an RMA replacement.

Thank you
