The New and Improved Floating Heatsink Design of XFX Graphics Cards Provides the Ultimate Cooling Solution

XFX's exclusive ghost thermal 2.0 design creates a floating heatsink with open airflow between the PCB and the cover so that air can quickly ventilate off the card while simultaneously cooling the core process and the components. We've also made major advances from our first generation which includes a heat tested light weight plastic to create an overall lighter thermal which reduces the physical strain on your GPU.

Up to 13dB Quieter and 45°F (7°C) Cooler Than Our Competitors

The Exclusive XFX Double Dissipation Design is Cooler and Quieter than Others

XFX's exclusive dual-fan, double-dissipation design utilizes two larger fans which run at slower RPMs than comparable single fan solutions, which must run at much higher RPMs just to barely achieve the same cooling needs. Because of this design, XFX is able to achieve up to 13dB lower noise than the competitor while simultaneously increasing the overall cooling by 45°F (7°C).

Improved Multi Sample Anti-Aliasing MSAA Technology

Smooth Lines Make All the Difference Between Itty Bitty, Low-Quality Graphics Versus Smooth Realistic Graphics

MSAA smooths out the jagged edges of a curved object. A black curved line on a white background displayed on a computer screen will have some jaggedness along its edges due to the inherent limitations of using discrete pixels to display the image. Anti-aliasing smooths out this jaggedness by filling in the white spaces between the jagged edges with varying shades of gray which gives you the smooth soft shadows, crisp sharp lines of buildings, and crisp tiny details in clothing that make your experience truly realistic.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems, works great, low temps!

Pros: -Dual fans make temperatures very low (even in Crossfire). Peaking at ~65C on full load.
-Good overclockability. Easily done in Crimson drivers.
-Performs well.

Cons: -Crossfire is weird sometimes. More of a problem with individual games than hardware, though.

Other Thoughts: Becoming outdated, but if you have one and don't want to spend a lot on a new card, go for crossfire.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Mid-range Card

Pros: Good performance at price point. I purchased two of these when building two separate systems while on a budget. Single card install is hassle free*. Overclocks easily and well. I was able to reach 1135/1460 on stock voltage. Unigine Valley 2735 with 22 min, 98 max and 54 avg on high with aa on 2.

Cons: *Probably not an XFX specific issue, but this card does not crossfire well. It took me almost a whole day to get it working. My list of issues included 2nd card not recognized, no power at all w/ 2nd card installed, AMD CCC disappearing w/ 2nd card installed, AMD CCC not installing w/ 2nd card installed, main monitor freezing while gaming, and "display driver has stop responding but has recovered" repeatedly while gaming. I did it, but it was a hassle, and I received a fairly minimal performance increase for my trouble. Unigine Valley 3256, 27 min, 118 max, 76 avg.

5 out of 5 eggsyass

Pros: - looks good... Almost too good...
- battlefield on ultra is a cake walk
- runs around 67 average for me under battlefield for several Hours
- impressive in size, other men can't help but notice how huge my graphics card is
- plethora of ports
- my favorite part is the rubber pieces that
Come on the plugs and on the crossfire plug, keeps dust from getting in and just gives a sense of care from the manufacturer.
- xfx hasn't really been a well
Known manufacturer I don't think but this card is definitely something to check out.

Cons: - it's freaking huge... (Still managed to fit it into my thermaltake core v21)

- if it had a back plate that matched the front it would be amazing, it sucks having such a beautiful card yet half the time I cannot see it because it's facing in some inconvenient direction...

- none

Other Thoughts: Awesome card... I payed for it when it was a fairly new card (270$) and was jealous to find a friend got his for 185$. Fits perfect in my case and I find myself switching the arrangement all the time between showing the graphics card in the side window (takes up more than I would care to admit on the core v21) or my 100i cooler for cpu and all its fancy colors. But this thing truly performs and for the price right now on and kind of budget build this things will be amazing.

1 out of 5 eggsThis card is garbage

Pros: None

Cons: First card DOA 2nd card having issues

Other Thoughts: The first card I installed would not work. Just kept on giving me a screen with blue and red lines. I RMAed that card and got another card. This card had flickers and lines through the monitor intermittently. To day, after running this card for 2 weeks I got the blue and red flashing lines.

Since I had to RMA the first card I missed the rebate. Now this card is having issues. First and last product from XFX.

Hello,

We're sorry you are having trouble with your card. If you are still having issues, please contact us for support and servicing.

3 out of 5 eggsClamorous Coil Whine Batman!

Pros: Gorgeous looking card. I mean look at it. It's sleek and sexy, and not overly aggressive.

Superb performance and fantastic value. It easily blasts through anything in its price bracket.

Robust and sturdy. I have no worries about the longevity.

Cons: The coil whine is horrible and definitely the worst part about this card. It screeches hideously and is louder than anything else I've heard.

Contrary to what I've read from some folks, mine seems to run quite hot. It usually gets into the upper 60's low 70's during gaming. Runs about 45 when idle and I have it in a well-ventilated case with good airflow to keep it cool so I'm not too worried about it.

Other Thoughts: I should mention, this is with an all stock setup. Generally, I don't overclock.

I bought this on the eve of the release of the R9 3XX series cards, during a massive price drop, so I believe I paid <$150 for the card. Great value there. The card definitely outperforms its price bracket. It feels robust when you hold it with little deflection and I had no worries about it supporting itself in my computer case in my tower case. I currently have it in an mATX cube case so the MB supports it.

Just a point of information: This card is massive (11.61"). It puts some old PC/AT boards to shame. Do your homework and make sure your case can fit it. I've seen people in forums complaining about the size just assuming it'll fit in their mITX or mATX computer build. I'm fine with the large size, It fits perfectly in my mATX case.

This card is a trade-off and one I kind of wish I hadn't made. I knew there might be a catch to a low priced card like this. However, I was not expecting it to be this bad. The coil whine is horrible. I almost can't stand how loud and piercing the sound is. I have to wear headphones when gaming to drown out the sound of the card. It stays pretty quiet for daily tasks but as soon as you start something graphically taxing though it screeches. I've even run into it starting to whine when streaming from Netflix/TWC/Ama Prime Video. I've had minor coil whine in the past with other components. This is by far the worst coil whine I've experienced.

If I can figure out how to get Newegg to let me do a video review I'll record the sound the card makes playing a few different games and scenarios. It's pretty loud.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We're sorry you are having issues with coilwhine. Sometimes running high FPS games over time (120+ FPS) resolves it. If not, and you're still having issues. Please contact us at xfxsupport.com for warranty servicing.
