3 out of 5 eggsgoing good then failure

Pros: the card looks amazing in the computer
I love it I can run any game max settings without any sort of problem
fits in my case just barely
card is an ATX board plus one hard drive and length for anyone wondering about how long it is

Cons: runs hot but if you're reading this you probably know every other comment the card runs hot
power-hungry watch what power supply you buy this card requires a powerful power supply

Other Thoughts: the card after three months decided to randomly not start up and shut down about 10 to 15 minutes in the running of thousand one power supply that I run the card and at 1080 P for monitor which should be well below the requirement for the card
all like to know if it's the car causing this problem or my part thousand watt power supply.

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Jack,

We're sorry you are having issues with you 295X2. neither part should be acting up, but i think you have found the 2 major culprits. Please contact me for warranty servicing options and troubleshooting.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, AMD holds it back.

Pros: Performs very well, Water cooled, Stays cool without much extra.

Cons: AMD Driver support sucks, you get issues often with new games. The last official driver release was 12/8/2014 (Before GTA 5, The Witcher 3, Etc) And because of this, these games suffer without using beta drivers (Which crash more often)

Other Thoughts: The card itself is fantastic. Using the Beta drivers for GTA 5, I am able to play at ultra on 1080p at a solid 70-75 FPS without fail. Card sits at around 60c when running the game. The only thing I think could be an improvement to that would be upgrading my case fans (they are ok, but not great) and I think I could get that down a couple more degrees. Otherwise, it performs flawlessly. Other people complain about throttling due to heat issues, but I feel like that is their own fault. I have a Corsair Carbide 300r (6 other fans in the case) and no AC in my house and still have no issues with heat causing throttling.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello and thank you for the great review. We appreciate your time and kind words.

5 out of 5 eggs295x2

Pros: This is a FAST card! I had a coolermaster 750 PSU. It ran fine but I invested in a EVGA 1300 to be safe. After re-installing drivers I ran Firestrike. With my old 2500k@4gig I scored 13700. Runs at the highest 59°C in BF4. Hope they come down in price to get a 2nd one. But I would need another PSU :-( lol

Cons: I had a lot of stuttering in BF4. Changed drivers. Finally unparked the CPU cores and problem fixed!

4 out of 5 eggsTexture Flickering in games not in desktop mode

Pros: BEATS TITAN X ANYTIME IF YOU GET A GOOD UNIT

Cons: Texture Flicking in games. tried uninstalling games, drivers even restoring my PC but did not fix the problem Usually happens in open areas, sometimes near you, called XFX, approved the RMA ticket and now sending it tomorrow hopefully it doesn't get lost or damage. ( this happens @ 1080 High settings) so i don't think its under heavy load thats causing it) PlZ XFX fixx it I HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO, LIKE GAMING

Other Thoughts: I JUST WANT A GOOD CARD
IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK -.-

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Thank you for the review. We will fix it as fast as wel can, or replace it if necessary. You will be back to gaming shortly.

1 out of 5 eggsCame Defective

Pros: Well I was really looking forward to having this card work. Unfortunately it came with a defective core.

Cons: After installing, I ran the GTA V benchmark @ 4k on ultra and noticed I was getting about 20-30 FPS which is half of what I should have been getting. I opened up GPU-Z and noticed crossfire was disabled for some reason. I disabled ULPS and enabled crossfire and guess what-- the second core was defective and caused crashes / blue screens. I tried doing clean installs of the drivers like 10 times and nothing worked. Sometimes my system doesn't even recognize the second GPU. What a shame.

Other Thoughts: My rig:
intel i7 3820 @ 3.6ghz
32gb ddr3 ram @ 1333 mhz
1x 120gb ssd
1x 500gb hdd
1x 2tb hdd
1x BD drive
r9 295x2 (GTX 680 right now)
Thermaltake TP Grand 1050 Watt PSU Gold Plus.
Corsair Hydro h70 core

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Carlos,

We're sorry you are having issues with your 295. Please contact us for a quick guide to fix any software related issues. I dont fully trust GPU-Z if this is the report you are getting.

This sounds like a bad driver install, perhaps caused by an antivirus or 3rd party software running in the background.

1 out of 5 eggsTERRIBLE

Pros: IDK

Cons: Constant black screens / lockout when:
Gaming
Reboot
Startup

Sometimes random BSOD caused by the AMD drivers.
Temps are fine, my system is stable and not OC'd. Not sure if I got a bad card or if AMD drivers are really that terrible

Other Thoughts: Get the 980 ti. Unfortunately I'm stuck with this thing.

5 out of 5 eggsI felt I should add this

Pros: I really thought I should add this. This is why i bought the card. It ranks at 96% percentile of all rigs tested at 3DMark. I did not "hop it up" a bit. It is all a stock.

3 out of 5 eggsDead @91 days

Pros: Fast

Cons: Card started showing artifacts in windows and display driver crashing. Started slow and just got steadily worse finally had to disable GPU 1 just to get windows to stay up and not have a display driver stop working. 3d Games were becoming hit or miss with most of them lately just not even starting or crashing as the display driver failed again. I have all the latest drivers and system meets all requirements, it also worked fine for 90 days. This happens in WIN 7 64, win 8.1 , win 10 all use different drivers yet the card does the same thing in each OS.

Trying to open RMA but have an old ticket they never closed so I can't open a new one and so far no respond to the note I added to the old ticket. ;-(

Anyone here from xfx my ticket # is T1503180023 can someone please follow up or close it so I can open a new ticket?

Thanks

Other Thoughts: Good card when it working but does put out a LOT of heat.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsWhat a waste

Pros: For the brief moments I got it working it was great.

Cons: This card has me (a die hard Radeon fan) wanting to buy Nvidia from now on. It causes blue screens during boot, then if by some miracle it actually gets through the boot process it may or may not recognize the driver. If the manufacture is reading this don't you dare tell me to update the driver. I have tried evry driver available including the beta drivers. I spent almost $900 between this card and a power supply that was listed on their site as compatible with this card. I have plenty of power but what I don't have is a functioning card. The first month I would spend 1-2 hours trying to get my system to boot properly and get this card to work. By the time it actually did work on any given day I didn't have much time left for gaming or just didn't feel like it any more. This card has made $4000 worth of gaming rig useless because now even when it does boot the drivers don't work and my multi-monitor set-up is all mirrored screens. Their support team never got back to me after I proved it didn't work no matter what driver I used. This was such a waste of hard earned money. I should have bought a Titanx.

Other Thoughts: I work in IT and make drivers work on all types of systems everyday, these drivers and this card are just badly written and implemented.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Nicholas,

I am reading this. I feel your struggle, no one ever likes getting a high-end piece of equipment, then dealing with issues right away.

The #1 concern is driver related, however, the 14.12, 15.4 and 15.5 all work well with the 295x2, my concern is the drivers in your registry after the install.

Did you install them as administrator? did you disable any 3rd party/malware protection software that might interfere?

Im sure we can get this sorted out, and if not, we can get an RMA started.

4 out of 5 eggsAMD Drivers

Pros: This is a follow up to a previous review. Fine card- DO YOUR RESEARCH.

Cons: none yet...

Other Thoughts: AMD earns their criticism when it comes to "driver updates." (and this is all just my opinion) Or more correctly stated the frequency in which they release updates. There is indeed a long time between "driver updates." IMHO, when AMD release a driver for their cards, it is superb. Flawless. They do not seem to be in the habit of releasing a new driver every 4-12 weeks to "eek out" another 12 frames per second. Their drivers "hit the ground running" and set the standard for performance in the market. Don't expect there will be a new driver anytime soon; 6 months at the earliest and there will be a good reason for it- not just a few extra frames per second.

Currently AMD has 2 drivers available for download for win7-64bit; my system. 14.12 (meaning released December of 2014) and a beta driver 15.5 (meaning May of 2015). There were indeed reports of the r9 295x2 experiencing "flickering" at 144 Hz refresh rate. DO YOUR RESEARCH!! And I saw the flickering for myself- it is not minor. It will create headaches for sure. There was a solution out there on the web... Toastyx I think it was called. I guess it is a middle-ware piece of software the allows to to set the refresh rate at 139.47 Hz and the flickering went away. Uber geeks wondered if AMD would ever learn simplify this and incorporate this into their driver. Beta driver 15.5 does exactly that.
So, if you are considering this card, and you understand beta drivers "release them from liability" of any damage that may result to the card... take comfort in your 2 year warranty, take comfort in XfX, and take comfort that 14.12 made my BenQ flicker, and take comfort in 15.5 drivers are perfect.
The only reason I even tried the 14.12 drivers was I got upset I could not find the "enable free sync" check box in the 15.5 driver version. The problem was I had "Motion Blur" enabled on my monitor. The instant I disabled motion blur, a pop up box said, "You have connected a free sync enabled display device. Click here to configure and enable." 14.12 official bad, 15.5 beta good.
If you are reading all this- you already know you want it/need it.

DO YOUR RESEARCH. Sign up for promos. Stalk your hardware. Get the absolutely best deal you can. Stick with companies with good costumer service reviews. Stalk your sales; and a good hunter and get this card for just under six hun dred.

Manufacturer Response:
