5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good, stable, affordable ... very nice upgrade for the price.

Cons: Every time I go shopping for a GFX card I tell myself to stick to just one card and stop trying to play around with building a Crossfire rig.

Then I cave to temptation ....

Not actually a knock against XFX on this, as their end of the deal is to supply solid hardware, and they have, but (and I say this as someone who has been building AMD + ATI PCs since 2003) every new version of CCC gets less functional and loses more features.

The drivers themselves work great, but it is CCC that manages Crossfire and it has become atrocious. very few games honestly work correctly with it anymore, even ones that used to work with my old HD4850 Crossfire build now stutter and intermittently flash black screens.

Save yourself the money and stick to a single card until AMD produces a quality version of CCC.

Other Thoughts: Went from a HD4850 crossfire build to 2 of these, the cards work great but I have only seen an average performance increase.

Conventional PC games are like completely new titles but in MMOs I have only seen average performance gains; I am still using my Phenom II X2 555 CPU, and I think this is what is kneecapping my system in MMOs due to the sheer mass of materials Online games are constantly loading in and out of the game.

At some point I will upgrade that too, but with Phenom II chips being off the market the price for an X4 or an X6 is jumped up to the point that I may as well buy a whole new motherboard + CPU for the same price.

Buyer beware that if you are a MMO gamer on an older or lower power CPU these GFX cards will not make much of an impact due to games like ArcheAge & Guild Wars 2 being far more CPU Dependant than they appear.

The free games were nice, but I only cashed in one of the coupons so far and got Sleeping Dogs & Star Citizen.

Star Citizen lists a quad core processor as the minim spec (deadpan stare) but Sleeping Dogs looks and runs phenomenal with these cards (even at 1440p) ... none of the other free games really interests me.

5 out of 5 eggsBest card in the $129 range

Pros: This is an awesome card. I have it paired with a FX-8350 and it ran Battlefield 4 on ultra at mid 40's to low 50's fps depending on the map. Its the basically a HD 7850

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Based on current price, this is the best card @ $129. Runs everything on ultra with no problems on stock settings.

Manufacturer Response:

Excellent!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card for the Price!

Pros: Got the card in the mail, plugged it right into my set up with no issues at all. Runs the games that I want it to all at 720p or 1080p with no frame drops. Runs very cool and has an awesome looking design that looks great in my Corsair C70 Vengeance.

Cons: None, so far!

Other Thoughts: Buy it while the price is so low!

5 out of 5 eggsBan got the Buck

Pros: Very fast for the price. Runs any game I've thrown at it so far at 1080p on high settings. Faster than a Nvidia 750 TI that cost more. Rebate was approved quickly. Good enough cooling fan.

Cons: User much more power than a Nvidia 750 TI and needs a PCIe power connector. AMD's hasn't made a good video driver in awhile.

Other Thoughts: This is a perfect card for anyone trying to get their foot in the door of gaming.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review.

1 out of 5 eggsMemory cooling problems

Pros: Seemed like a good deal. Normally would prefer a lower cost of game bundles I don't use, but this time you could get a ship for the Star Citizen game out of it which pushed me over from getting another Nvida card.

XFX has a good rep and life time warranty on their cards.

Cons: Had concerns about the cooling on this card. While every other modern card has a big heatpipe sink that cover most of the card and a large fan, this has a small standard heat sink and small fan. While watching a twitch stream I started getting a hot (not burning) dust small followed shortly by graphic glitching. GPU was ~60c according to 2 programs. But it failed a memory test. Seems that fancy but wimpy heat sink does nothing for the ram which need good cooling also.

Also noticed strange slight bluring of text when scrolling text in the catalyst control center right after installing the card. Blur would last a 1/2 second on text that scrolled into view. Also noticed slight full screen blur in certain cases in a game that others said they didn't get.

Other Thoughts: I overlooked the small heat sink design because XFX has a good rep. And the price combined with the bundle deal was a tipping point to try ATI again. My GTX560 had died before I saved up enough for a new 9xx nvida card and this was to be a hold over. My last ATI card was an ALL in Wonder I used from an XT through to a 486.

Life time warranty don't mean much if it's going to need to go back every month. :(

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We're sorry you had issues with your card. There shouldn't be any blurring issues, and 60'C is considered very low temperature. If its breaches 90'C, that would be of some concern.

You may have a driver conflict as well, please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com for further help.

Thank you
