Gamers with AGP 8x mobos rejoice! HIS delivers a high powered card based on the ATi Radeon X1950Pro GPU. They then loaded it with 512MB of GDDR3 memory to really punch up the power.
The dual link DVI connectors let you attach large digital monitors or projectors. The S-Video port can also transmit composite or component signals. Or take advantage of ATi’s AVIVO technology and use it as a video in port. This lets you play content from your camcorder or turn your PC into a PVR. Now you can avoid paying the monthly subscription to those other services.
All high end cards have cooling systems, but nobody has paid as much attention to design as HIS. Their 3d Generation of the IceQ technology contains features not found on other cards. The isolated heatsinks make sure that heat isn’t transferred between the GPU and the memory. The GPU heatsink has a heat pipe to quickly move the heat to a secondary sink in the path of the air blowing to the outside of the case.

Great in every way EXCEPT Drivers
- Pros: Fastest AGP card you can buy, great cooling system, runs BF2142 on high settings and WoW maxxed (with AA 4x, AS 8x). No hiccups on Supreme Comm.
If you are a hardcore gamer, you already have PCI-express, if not, this is a fantastic upgrade, it will breathe new life into any game that came out right up until this summer.
- Cons: WARNING. The latest ATI drivers BREAK this card's SMART GART ability so that it cannot do AGP reads and writes (and thus cripples performance). Also, the hot-key poller (ati2evxx.exe) does not mix well with overclocking and causes an unbearable constant flashing effect.
You can avoid the SMART GART problems by using the CD drivers that came with the card or catalyst driver v. 7.4 or 7.5., no later.
As for the overclocking induced flashing, hit ctrl-alt-del and then kill ati2evxx.exe and that will cure the problem, but you must repeat it every time you play a game.
Finally, the card will show its AGP limits on the new games coming out this fall.
- Other Thoughts: Would get a 5 if not for the driver update from ATI that breaks the card.
AWESOME!
- Pros: I love this card. I moved to VistaX64, my older card was only rated at 3.7. After installing this card, my rating went up to 5.9! At this time, that is the highest rating you can get for Vista!
- Cons: Software included in the box does not allow me to "overclock" the card as much as the box claims to do.
- Other Thoughts: Card is HUGE, its about 2" longer then std dvd case. Card puts out some heat, air flow a must. I also purchases with card Gateway 24" 16:10 display. Fantasic display.

- Pros: When I upgraded to this card from my aging GeForce 6800, the boost it gave to my system was unbeleivable. I can now play games like F.E.A.R. and Doom 3 on high settings.
- Cons: This card takes quite a bit of power, and runs VERY warm. As a matter of fact, when I start playing games such as F.E.A.R. on high settings, I have to take my sidepannel of my case off, and run a box fan into my case to keep the card cool.
- Other Thoughts: Even with the fan, this is most likely the fastest card you're going to find for you old AGP system. It's worth the heat and power. It's a really good buy if your still stuck on AGP. When I purchased the card almost a year ago, it cost me more than double the current price, and it was worth it then, so it's still worth it now. :S
Nice Card for APG
- Pros: Nice card. Easy to install. Had no issues using drives provided on my XP pro pc. Software makes it easy to overclock. works like a charm

- Pros: Once this card is installed properly (it takes few tries) it works great.

- Other Thoughts: This card is BIG time power-holic. It requires quit a bit of power to function properly, so make sure you have the right power supply. I have a 500 W power supply, but I have read that a minimum of 400/425 W one would be sufficient. The card uses a Y-split power cable, but make sure you do not connect it to the same Y-split power cable coming from the power supply. It's what I did and it caused it to be underpowered, which resulted in constant system crashes – apps and games. After I changed that, the card started to work right.
