5 out of 5 eggsBest 4870 Card out there!!

Pros: Works right out of the box and can be cross fired. This card can run everything that is thrown at it! Can easily be overclocked, but you wont need to. my friend and I both spent the same amount o a new computer build and he got a 4870 from a different maker and I run 10 fps faster than his with the same style card! Just fricking awesome!

Cons: The cards fan can be noisey if turned up above 50%, but I have found that running it at around 35% makes it quiet and keeps it cool except for extreme gaming.

Other Thoughts: Just buy this card and quit reading reviews already!

5 out of 5 eggsWOW!!!

Pros: Okay this thing is just crazy. Worked right outta the box, runs every game i throw at it. By far the best video card I have ever owned. And comming from a 280 which is supposed to be in competition with these there is simply no competition there. ATI and AMD has by far out did themselfs with this. Cant imagine just how powerful the 4870x2's are.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsFollow up review

Pros: Card is a beast for the $$. I run at 1080P. No issues for 4 months.

A fan of ATI again!

The drivers come with an "auto tune" feature that will setup the overclocking for you. I use it and it has worked flawlessly. Run COD W@W and Left 4 Dead at max settings with no issues.

***for some reason the software/drivers do not auto adjust the fan speed to keep it cool. It runs at 60-65 deg C idle. I just set manually set the fan speed during gaming to 50% and it keeps it around 33 deg C. No issues you just need to make sure the fan is running or you could have problems. I did get artifacts during gaming before I manually set the fan speed up to 40-50%. You can set it higher but it does not significantly cool the card further (that I can see given the added noise).

Cons: The price has gone up about $30 from when I purchased in Jan 09 so there are more affordable options right now that will get the same or better performance.

Its big but all the new cards are big.

2 out of 5 eggsGet a GTX 260+

Pros: Cheap, usually quiet, attractive marketing..

Cons: This card is nearly out performed by my friends 9800GT on a similar system. After 3 months the card started artifacting and thus can no longer play games. I will be contacting Newegg about a RMA, I don't think I'll be buying from ATi or HIS again.

Other Thoughts: Puts out nearly twice as much heat as the older 9800GT, is twice as big and takes twice the power.

Do NOT buy this.

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful Card

Pros: I think a lot of people who review this card, havent the acceptable specs from ATI on how hot this card can get and still run stable. I have had no problems with the card at full overclock! As for the heat issue you, you might want to consider a Zalxxx vf1000, it keeps mine at 38c idle and 45c full load. Eats the most demanding games for breakfast when run at 1920x1080!

Cons: It is a large card, but that should not keep you from buying this great deal. Any card that perfroms like this will be this size or larger!

Other Thoughts: Phenom II BE 3.54 oc
8 gigs Kingston hyperx
750wd hdd BE
MSI KA9 Platinum
Vista Ultimate 64
HD 4870 1100ram 995cpu

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: As usual, Newegg comes through with great products. This HIS card worked straight out of the box, and with CCC 9.2 drivers, overclocks to 790 MHZ core and 1080 MHZ memory speeds! I couldn't be happier!

Cons: Uhh, now it's not on sale so there are other cards that are better priced.

Other Thoughts: The driver package that came with the card was pointless as CCC 9.2 from the AMD/ATI website works much better, and I don't need all that froofy extra garbage taking up RAM while I'm trying to play games...

5 out of 5 eggsNo Dissapointment

Pros: Still Available

Cons: High Temps

Other Thoughts: This is a follow-up to another review, just ordered another one of these for CrossFire and I am very happy with the performance increase. Along with my Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz I am maxing out crysis @ 1920x1080, all very high settings, and getting 35+ FPS... Avg is probably around 38. No game stands in my computers way now and 2 of these bad boys made that possible. Thanks Newegg!

4 out of 5 eggsGood, not great, Graphics Card from AMD

Pros: Very fast. Maxed out all the games I threw at it and also looks pretty sexy :). I consider this a positive: the fan is so loud it sounds like a blow dryer set on cool. With the fan maxed out like that it runs VERY cool.

Cons: Expensive and runs very hot on the stock fan setting. Also this card can't overclock very well at all. I only got it to a 50mhz overclock and my previous card (8800gts) went over 150.

Other Thoughts: Decent card overall but I knocked off an egg for the price and limited overclocking ability. I did send this card back after 30 days because it wasn't worth it for the money IMO. I think a GTX 260 is a better choice.

Right now I have a 4670 because of the price/performance ratio but I really am missing the speed of this card. Looking into a GTX 280 next when the price goes under $250. Also keep your eye on the 4890 coming out soon!
