5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job for Win2k3

Pros: Small form factor. HDMI/DVI/VGA out.

Cons: Pricey. Back in the day, when servers motherboards had lots of PCI slots (not complaining about lack of PCI slots) you could pick up a cheap PCI card for less than 10 bucks.

Other Thoughts: I just needed a video card for my server, running W2k3 x86. I was running ATI x1950 in a PCI x16 but a RAID card took athat slot. I only had 1 x1 PCIe slot available and this was the cheapest video card I could find for it. This is running in a server so all the "small hairdryer fan noise" noise this cards fan puts out everyone else is complaining about is dwarfed (I can't even hear it) by the 4U case internal fans sitting behind the drives + CPU fan + dual 1100 Watt PS fans + dual external case fans.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Haven't had any major issues.

Cons: I've noticed some slow rendering for the mouse in AutoCAD at times. This is a secondary card for me.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Good 3D Performance

Cons: I could not get this to play DVD video, either from discs or images. While the 3D performance was good, the 2D/Aero performance was actually worse than the onboard Intel graphics.

Other Thoughts: I got this for an Intel DG45FC computer for my son to watch DVD's... so, fail. This also happened to be the flimsiest card I've ever purchased. RMA'd defective.

1 out of 5 eggsNo driver in Server 2003 x64

Pros: x1 tab size fits in x8 server slots

Cons: Card only works with default drivers in Server 2003 x64, which does not allow 3D acceleration - the reason I bought it.

Other Thoughts: I was hesitant to get it, but a few of the other reviewers said they got it working on Dell servers. I'm running a PowerEdge 2970. Can anyone who got this card to actually work with 3D drivers PLEASE post how you did it?

I need to have 3D capability on this machine, and with the x8 slots I was forced into a corner since there just aren't that many cards that will fit. I have been searching very persistently for some driver (official or otherwise) that will let me get 3D out of this card, and had no luck. I'll try just about anything at this point (other than buying a new server - no $$ for that).

5 out of 5 eggsDrop-in card for Dell PowerEdge SC1430

Pros: I needed a video card with digital outs for a Dell PowerEdge SC1430 server and this fits the bill perfectly. Drops in with no mods or physical config and has both DVI and HDMI out. Uses standard ATI / Catalyst drivers. I used ATI's Vista 64-bit installer under Server 2008 and everything runs perfectly.

Cons: Pricey for what it is, but they don't sell too many of these. It's mostly for weird niche applications, like people who want to install a video card in their server.

Other Thoughts: Has nothing specific to do with this card, but watch out for the quirkiness of ATI's software. It was set to underscan by default, giving me black borders around the edges of the desktop. The underscan setting is buried several levels deep inside the Catalyst Control Panel and is hard to find unless you already know where it is.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks...but way too loud

Pros: Decent form factor, good 3D performance, good memory capacility, great connector choices

Cons: The fan sounds like a jet turbine, average desktop performance,

Other Thoughts: Where did HIS find a fan that small that sounds like a server blower? Awesome white noise device, but not practical for non-server room applications

5 out of 5 eggsIt works very well

Pros: This card is perfect for motherboards that do not have a X16 PCI-E slot but do have a X1, X4, or X8 (Usually server boards). You don't have to use an older PCI-X or PCI video card which was really my only option other than a PCI-E 16X to 1X slot adapter with a low profile PCI-E X16 video card. No adapters, no fuss, easy install.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: On the surface these cards seem a bit spendy for their capabilities but by the time you factor in the hassle of adapters and installation difficulties, it was worth the cost to me.
