5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Awesome

Pros: Amazing price/performace at time of release and still remains a solid card two and a half years after it's release. It has run everything flawlessly in the two and a half years that I've had this card.

Cons: It's a long card and requires 2 6 pin leads from the PSU. I suppose if you have a small case this would be a problem. If your PSU doesn't have 2 6 pins, it's probably time to replace it honestly.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card in October 1, 2009, right after it released (they were hard to get in stock the first couple of weeks) for $259.99, and I have to say it's probably one of the best hardware purchases that I've ever made. Since I still have a 1080p monitory, I could not justify replacing it last April in my Sandy Bridge build, so it now resides in my P8P67-Pro Motherboard, just wished it matched the blue color scheme!

5 out of 5 eggsVery good

Pros: I own this product for almost a year now. So far no problem found. This Video Card can support any games in the market right now... I love it very much. It's very easy to install. I can use two power cords or just one.

Cons: It's very big... But I guess it's fine.

Other Thoughts: I'm hoping to buy another one for crossfire.

3 out of 5 eggsScreen freeze

Pros: Nice card fit inside my case with no problems and heat issue
i just wish it would have worked for me.

Cons: After a while of playing Bad Company 2 the screen would freeze and go blank. I do not overclock my cards no need to.

5 out of 5 eggsGood after one issue

Pros: It's a very good card, runs cool and isn't TOO loud (running 55%). It runs all my games @ 1920*1200 on high settings just fine. These include:

Bad Company 2
Just Cause 2

Those are the most stressful ones anyway.

Cons: I went through about 4 different cards, and only after I had an in depth talk with the HIS tech support guy (thanks, whoever you were), did I resolve the issue.

See, what would happen is seemingly randomly my computer would crash and the fan speed would rev up to 100%. Sometimes happened during games sometimes just idling. I contacted the tech and he submitted a report to the engineering team. I got an email two days later telling me to disable winSAT.exe in the task scheduler.

Ever since I did that I have not had a single problem with this card.

Other Thoughts: I was kinda ticked that it took 4 cards and 2 calls (first call was after the second card) to figure out what the issue was, but it's fixed now.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Reference card, cards you want to get for overclocking. Flashed with Asus 5850 bios, easy to reach 5870 clocks. Currently at 850/1200 1.087v with stock cooler, will clock higher after water is applied.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great bang for the buck when running 2 in crossfire.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: 1. I bought it @ $310; at the time it was only bested by the 4870x2 in performance/dollar.

2. The power consumption is what made me decide to get it, really.

3. Eyefinity

4. Dirt 2 (at the time; not sure if they're still giving it away)

5. Now that the benches are out for the card that's supposed to rival it (gtx 470), you can see the win:
-Hexus shows the 5850 beat the 470 in Battlefield: Bad Company 2
-Hexus shows the 5850 beat the 470 in Crysis Warhead
-Anandtech shows the 5850 beat the 470 in Mass Effect 2
-Anandtech shows the 5850 beat the 470 in Wolfstein
-Tom's Hardware shows the 5850 beat the 470 in Crysis
-Using Hexus' power consumption charts and estimated power costs (from the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics) I found out this card will save me $38.59 per year in power alone.
-It doesn't overheat
-Has a better performane:price ratio
-Its actually in stock (March 31, 2010)
-As noted before, this card has Eyefinity

Cons: 1. No CUDA makes it lose in the Heaven benchmark against nVidia's cards

2. nVidia won't allow ATi to use PhysX

Other Thoughts: I game at 1080p so that's what I'm referring to with the benchmarks. The cons aren't really big obviously so that makes this card awesome. :)

5 out of 5 eggsThese cards are HUGE!

Pros: All I said when I unboxes was, Wow!! The cards are really big, and luckily, by mobo SATA were connected off the side instead of up. Fix my case and runs really quiet. When running two of these in CrossFire, there is no room for the first card's fan to get air, but they seem to run fine so far. They need (2) 6-pin power connectors each, so make sure your PSU has enough, or use the adapters provided. Each card comes with a CrossFire link and an adapter. Download the latest drivers off the net!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My Rig:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black 3.4GHz
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB DDR3 1600 (PC 12800)
(2) OCZ Vertex 60GB SATA SSD - RAID0
WD VelociRaptor 300GB 10k RPM SATA
(2) HIS Radeon HD 5850 1GB - CrossFire

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great Deal.....For being clocked 200Mz slower then the HD 5870 I can hardly notice the 10% drop in proformince won't be noticeable for most. For the price of this card it was a Awsome Deal

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Takes up alot of room but most vga cards do.....i Would consider the placement of your SATA connections on your motherbord befor buying

5 out of 5 eggsFREAKING AWESOME

Pros: Quiet, freak outrageous performance, HDMI, Display Port, 2 DVI, Dirt 2 coupon. AWESOME card overall

Cons: Price, seems like the price of these cards keep going up every 2 weeks.

Other Thoughts: Every game I throw at this card I can play on max everything at 1920x1080 resolution, including full anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering and still get a minimum of 60fps - usually 100+ fps. Running with a core i5 750.
