5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid!!!

Pros: Over two years later this thing is still cranking out serious FPS paired with my i7 930 (stock) and 6GB of ram.

I play at 1920x1080 on my 47" Sony Bravia HDTV and I can play games at crazy frame rates!

Cons: None!

5 out of 5 eggsNo regrets

Pros: Runs cool, a bit overclocked, very nice boxxing with all the parts connectors, converters etc.

Cons: Was pricey at the time, pricier than others.

Other Thoughts: I wonder why it is still priced so high.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: In a word... Amazing! Better color and performance that the dual 285GTX's I had previously In SLI, Lower power consumption as well. I can play all current games at WUXGA (1920x1200) with all settings on Ultra and consistently exceed 55fps on a single card!!

Cons: Big Card. Smaller Cases may have some clearance issues.

Other Thoughts: Asus Crosshair IV, AMD Phenom II x6 1090T, HIS Radeon 5870

5 out of 5 eggsawesome

Pros: I have had this card for about 2 months now and it works great, just tried eyefinity, looks amazing. Direct x11 is a nice added feature and can run crisis and max setting just fine. I say great price to performance and looks good too. Also runs cool, at times this card is running at 31c idle and around 51-55c max load which is amazing. Thank you HIS

Cons: Its a big card my friend has one of these also and it took a long time for him to fit it inside his mid tower case. Its fine if you have a full tower Haf 932 (or any other full tower case) like i have, but just warning you that this is a big card and it may not fit in every case. also the two 6 pin power connectors are on the front so your going to have to leave some room in the front along with the large card.

5 out of 5 eggs5870 MW2 free

Pros: The only reason I bought this GPU was because of MW2. I figured what the hell MW2 is free and it's $5 less then other 5870. The card arrived I installed it and everything has been flawless

Cons: It's LONG! Barely fits i my CM 690 Advanced II case

5 out of 5 eggswow...just wow

Pros: It's been a long time since i've built a machine with a top end graphics card. I usually go to mid / higher end, never really exceeding 250$. I bit the bullet and splurged for the second time in my life on a top end card.

All I can say is you WILL NOT be dissapointed. This card is disgusting. Easily maxing everything i've tossed at it, temps stay insanely cool and the fan is very quiet.

Worked right outta the box, no problems, no hassle. My only beef, and it's not even that big, was the coupon for the game made you have to dl it. Luckily in my area i get 1.6mbps dl speeds so it only took a few hours.

Cons: None that i can's massive?

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice

Pros: I was looking for a card that would stay cooler than the GTX 400 series. GTX 400 series would load @90°C vs 70°C for this HIS. Fan speeds are set to 50% from the factory and idle quite loud, but it idles 4° less than the 400 series (40 vs 44). I set the fan to the same speed (40%) and both cards idle at 44°. Both idle around 55° on overclocks. Even overclocked this thing only hits 71° after 2 hours of gaming (Just Cause 2, Full settings, Max Res). Even with this thing in my cramped computer desk it stays cool (2" of clearance on each side, 5" on top). The card works really well for all my games and seems to be able to handle everything I have thrown at it. With the $395 price tag there is no reason to not own this card!!!!

Cons: I believe I read this in another review, but these cards feel flimsy and cheap, especially compared to EVGA's 400 series. It doesn't affect performance, and probably helps some with cooling, but even plugging in my 6-pins I felt the need to be extremely cautious. Even handling the card the plastic cover felt weak, like I could snap it off if handled wrong. I am choosing not to take an egg off for this because it doesn't affect it's ability to perform the task it was created for. Just be aware that excess force might not be the best of ideas for this card.

Other Thoughts: With the price drop of $50 this is one of the best deals on the market. If the 1gb sapphire vapor-x was available at the time I was purchasing this card I would have had a very tough decision to make.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: This card is the best card ive owned, i replaced xfire 5770's due to xfire issues, and this thing easily triumphs those. idles at 33-35c, on cod4 hits 51C, havent gave overclocking a try yet, im sure it will overclock like a beast

Cons: does not have unlocked voltage control, not necessary though unless youre getting close to 1GHz

Other Thoughts: very solid

1 out of 5 eggsHIS Customer Service is HORRIBLE!!

Pros: The card seems to handle just about anything you throw at it. Thw New ATI cards are doing very well in the current vid card battle with Nvidia.

Cons: This card runs extremly hot. At Idle its running 55c, at full load its hitting 95c + (yes I did turn up the fan speed to 100 %). I bought this card due to the fact they claimed it runs 10c less than other cards on the market and that is completely false. I sent in a CS Ticket with the worthless Support at HIS and thats where I come up with the 1 egg review. I went through all the trouble to register on the HIS site filled out all the info on the card (serial numbers model numbers name of the card...) and waited 3 days for a rep to answer my ticket. The answer to my over heating problem was "just checking is this a 5830 card or a 5970" since that little gem of a question I have not heard back for another 5 days which is where Im at now at the time im writing this review. So I have a card that will probably Die due to overheating and I cant get a response from HIS. So this is going on 8 days with basicly no reponse.

Other Thoughts: If you are planning on buying a 5870 card or any Video card Please do not buy a HIS product thier Customer service is the absolute worst in the industry by far. I also Own a 3870 x2 which Died after about 1 year 3 months (3 days after I got this new card) and they refuse to answer my CS tickets on that card as well. In no way should this review reflect badly on Newegg they always do a fine job of getting my orders to me on time and intact and thats really all you can expect.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear valued customer,
we are sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with your HIS video card. You may contact one of our techs our (408) 331-8847 for a trouble-shooting walk through.

Kind regards,
HIS Service Center
