2 out of 5 eggsLater

Pros: It worked at all

Cons: Overheats

Other Thoughts: I have bad case cooling, but it's meant to be a quiet PC. I bought a fanned 5670, it's actually quieter than the fan method I had to use for this.

5 out of 5 eggsSome Weird Revies on this Card

Pros: Powerful little card for people who don't like using insanely stupid resolution monitors. (I wish they sold more 1440x900 monitors. Currently using a 1600x900 and it's just too wide.
I don't think this thing uses a bulk/speed process it won't clock high enough to have that kind of ion doping. So it's gotta be a heat or lower power process. I haven't gotten it hot enough to make sure it's a heat process.

Cons: Don't like the cooler design. It's pretty good but would be better if it contacted the memory chips. Weird card it runs at .9 volts on the 2d clock setting 157gpu/300 memory. 550 was too much horsepower for what I use it for so set it to max out at 500mhz/1000. It almost never uses the 400mhz/900mhz memory mode.

Other Thoughts: I don't know what people are talking about. I'm running this in a 75f room and it runs anywhere from cooler than 45c which catalyst pegs out at on the bottom side. I switched to summer fan on case when I installed so using a 53cfm fan instead of my 28 cfm gentle typhoon. But the case fan is so far away from the gpu it doesn't affect temps much. Hottest I've gotten it was 65c and that was with a big overclock. It usually peaks at 60 61c at stock settings. Using a 125 watt dc power supply and running processor at 2400mhz 28ish watt mode. Usually run 2100mhz 22watt on cpu but playing some rather demanding games and they need the clock. This thing will use a good 45 watts at big overclock but it's so powerful on a normal resolution monitor who cares. It barely draws 35 watts at my 500/1000 setting. I can log temps if people want to see but this thread is just full of weird posts.

3 out of 5 eggsA few months later

Pros: It didn't catch on fire, or melt under over 80 C of heat, even with a fan on it.
Didn't blow up when it went to around 97 C.
I'm not turning to nvidiocy (aka nvidia fanboyism) because of this.

Cons: Get ready for seizures. You might even get them if you haven't had them before. This thing'll flash 'till you're dead.

Other Thoughts: Either that, or my cooling just isn't enough. But seriously, I would just love to know, HOW do you cool this thing right?! It's not easy to just put a fan on the heatsink like I did with the beautiful H557HR1G!

Decide. It's your choice. Seziures, buy this with a Delta AFB1212GHE-CF00 and one heck of a fan controller, or get a fanned card.

The game affected with the flashiness is Sims 3.

I believe even a Radeon HD 6990 is cooled more efficiently! Or even worse, 4 GeForce GTX 580s in SLI!

Don't get me wrong. HIS and AMD are absolutely marvelous, their products are **awesome**, but this specific card isn't. Just buy some other product from the same guys, I don't think you'll be regretting at all.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Video Card

Pros: To be honest the price maybe $73.00 ????? leave im your opinion.

Cons: Well a few thing's.
1.- Memory dont have nothing for cooling, is GDDR5 Memory needs cooling.

2.- The passive cooling for the GPU stinks for a Radeon HD 5550 needs a fan.

3.- Only work for 2 weeks in a new Dell Inspiron i560

Other Thoughts: The Warranty, im try hope can help me. dont wasting your time and money for a few extra dollars you can get a better card.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Great price. Powerful computing with DDR5, & the Radeon HD5000 series. Quiet. Simple, No additional power inputs required. Small (no maneuvering hard-drives to adjust for an over sized graphics card)

Cons: At normal clock rates I've had DI temperatures spike to 100C.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend any additional OC on this, despite its large surface area heat sink. I think that Fan mounting holes should be added as an option for improved system stability.. Highly recommend purchase of a PCI mounted exhaust fan with this unit. Still gets 4/5 for value and power.

5 out of 5 eggsHIS 5550 DDR5

Pros: NO noise. Works great ! No need for tweaks to get the sound over HDMI. With good airflow in case 2d @ 41 degrees, 3D @ 60. After a 2hr movie streamed from Netflix temp @44 degrees. Bought this for a HTPC, very happy.

Cons: No HDMI cable.

Other Thoughts: Worth the money, for DDR5 128 bit memory (priced low !)

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: We put this in our media center PC running Windows XP, and it's been just fine for that (hooray for HDMI). The drivers successfully pump both video and audio out through our LCD TV, and 1920 x 1080 resolution is gracefully displayed at all times.

Cons: None that I've encountered thus far.

4 out of 5 eggsSilent? Yes. Cool? No.

Pros: As far as performance its good for what I need it for and its silent.

Cons: It's silent which means no fan, which means its HOT. I didnt bother uping any of the freq. because it will just get worse. I have a mini atx case and this thing is really hot. I think im gonna have to get either a new heatsink and fan or just go the water cooling route. Included drivers did not work on Windows 7 64bit but the AMD drivers work flawlessly

Other Thoughts: Nice Inexpensive Video Card that needs a small fan. The heatsink is huge but inadequate and lowering the core freq isnt gonna solve the problem.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: Silent

Cons: died in 3 weeks due to overheating/overstressed. Had a 120mm fan on it at med and the card always ran hot. Died when I was multitaking with a linux distro download, burning a linux distro to dvd and had outlook, FF and IE all open

Other Thoughts: Just not worth it Havetried 3 ATI cards over the past 9 years and all have failed. To me that means poor product. Never issues with NVIDIA, except desire to upgrade to fit new tech
