5 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for Buck

Pros: - High performance at a low cost
- plays most of my games at highest settings at 1080p
- pretty quiet considering how big this thing is
- even though it is large it fit in my case with no problems at all

Benchmarks (all are average frame rates all at 1080p)
borderlands 2 @ 55.4 (with physx on high this drops to 35, for this bench it was set to low)
Resident Evil 5 @ 60.0
Crysis 2 at about 45.7
left 4 dead @ 60 no drops at all
blacklight @ 53 some points it dropped rather low for some reason however

this card is very exceptional with all games i have tried on it
this was an upgrade from an hd 6770 that i have had for nearly 3 years, saw this and though great deal so why not
now im happy with my rig and u really couldnt ask for more, if u have the money spend it and get this card, its not the newest thing but it performs very well, also its not pcie 3 but seriously do ur homework and see how much of a difference it really makes, heres a hint, its like 2% improvement.

Cons: here come the cons
- this card is VERY LARGE, about 3 inches longer than my 6770 it replaced and thats a BIG difference
- this card pulls alot of power, around 200 from my readings because i have a UPS and it shows me the power readon of my comp, so about 2 times the power drawn from my 6770

other than that i cant really complain

Other Thoughts: seriously just buy this card if you have the money, i know these newer cards may be powerful but this is a REALLY good card for the money, i remember when these things first came out and they were like 400 bucks, now theres one for 160... do the math

4 out of 5 eggsHIS 6970 3-Way Crossfire

Pros: Price/Performance
Does not burn the house down
Excellent scaling in crossfire
See Cons: Ugly fat plastic shroud

Cons: Long and fat.
I knew this card was very long and had the case to support it. Cooler Master HAF 942. However, it did not enter my mind that it would be so wide. Too wide for normal 3-way crossfire/sli slot spacing in an Asus Crosshair V Formula Z MB. The reason for this is that the plastic shroud is bigger than it needs to be. For the Asus Sabertooth Gen 3 R 2.0 spacing of slots 1 and 2 is ok but I had to squeeze the slots into slots 2 and 3. Good thing the pcb boards and shroud are flexible or it would not have worked. They are slightly stressed but working fine. The milky white color of the plastic shroud is ugly but the copper heat pipes look great.

Other Thoughts: I have two systems that I intended to build using the MBs mentioned in the Cons: and the new FX 9370 processors. I'm finished with the first build using the Sabertooth MB and Gskill (4X8) 32 GB 18666 DDR 3. I had to set the memory timings manually as the Sabertooth did not auto recognize the ram. I'm using the FX Liquid cooler that was bundled with the FX 8150 several months ago. Its similar to and nicer than the Antec 920. I wish AMD would sell these separately or bundle them with the new FX processors. The build looks great and there is plenty of room for the 1500 watt Thermaltake PSU in the cavern-ness confines of the HAF 942. I set the multiplier manually to 23.5 and turned off Turbo Core so the FX 9370 runs full speed at 4.7 GHz and over clocked the HIS 6970s from 880/1325 stock to 950/1450 max using AMD graphics overdrive. Running smooth as silk with 3DMark11 rating of P12900 and feeling happy!

5 out of 5 eggsFirst build

Pros: This is my first pc build and I got this card over 50% off! I can run any game I have on max stats and it runs perfect. A little loud under load but no glichting, no lagging ( on 1080p @120htz).

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: AMD FX 6350
MIS 970-g46
Corsair XMS DDR3 1600 8gb
Win7 X64
Corsair TX650
Corsair Extreme SSD

3 out of 5 eggsTerrible air flow

Pros: It's a 6970.

Cons: The reference cooler design might not be as "efficient" but at least it removes the heated air from the case. This card does not move any air out of the case, it simply heats it up and dumps it right back into the computer. With one card this may not be noticeable but crossfired it has started pushing my cpu temp past 70 when before this was installed they never passed 55!

Other Thoughts: I would not buy this card again due to its heatsink design.

5 out of 5 eggsLike A Boss

Pros: Overclocked it to 955 Mhz core clock and 1425 MHz memory clock.(it could clocked higher but I've had no reason to try) I can play about any game on Ultra settings @ 60+ FPS. I mostly play BF3. The hottest it gets to is about 55-56C.

Cons: No complaints so far.

Other Thoughts: Not really a con but this thing is HUGE so make sure your case is big enough.
