1 out of 5 eggsReplacement Card

Pros: It looks nice and ran great for about 4 hours.

Cons: Really? I spent a small fortune returning this card to the manufacturer under the rma and just got the replacement yesterday.

It was in my husbands system for about 4 hours before it started crashing like the wave on the shore during a hurricane. I then put it in my system and put my R9 270x in his system to test out his startech dongle for the eyefinity display. He hasn't had a hiccup since I changed out the card. His system specs are:
mobo: msi 890GXM-G65
ram: 16g
processor: AMD Athlon: IIx4 964 processor, 3.4 GHz
psu: 850watt with dedicated 6 and 6+2 connector for graphics (no sharing cables with other devices)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OS

My system specs:
System 2:
mobo: gigabyte GA-890-GPA-UD3H
ram: 16g
processor: AMD Phenom IIx6 1100T 3.30GHZ
psu: 750w with dedicated connectors for graphics (no sharing cables with other devices)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OS

Other Thoughts: I have sent another request for yet another rma and also a shipping tag since I shouldn't have to pay to return it in under 24 hours after receiving the replacement card.

1 out of 5 eggsA one week card

Pros: Runs VERY hot. Cannot keep its core clock at max. Died after one week of Metro Last Light.

Cons: I got the card and right away couldn't get it below 95c (Could get a lot more hotter if it wasn't limited to 95c). When every R9 290 hits 95c, it starts to lower its core clock to maintain 95c otherwise it will burn. The card stopped working after one week.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if I got a faulty GPU or if this model is suppose to work like this but I can't recommend anyone to buy this card.

I'm currently waiting for HIS's reply (not that there's anything to do with this card except sending it back).

5 out of 5 eggsHIS r9 290 gpu

Pros: -Powerful gpu, operated exactly as I expected it to. No problems at all.
-Operates relatively cool with in an acceptable range of temperature. Miles ahead of the reference design.
-Driver updates were easy, though it functioned normally with the preinstalled ones.
-Excellent price when i purchased it, ~$360 before tax. Well worth it.

Cons: -Good cooler, but not up to par with competition, namely sapphire's coolers.... that being said, my card has yet to go past 85, and those temps were encountered during a heat wave.
-Can get pretty loud at higher temps. To be expected with these coolers though.

Other Thoughts: -Extremely large, make sure your case can support a gpu this size
-Odd coloration. Color coordination is probably the last thing anyone should worry about anyways. Looks pretty cool in my opinion anyways.
-Prices are still fluctuating, but this card has performed beautifully. No regrets at all, and thankful I came across it.

3 out of 5 eggsCrash crash baby

Pros: This graphics for this card are awesome, it's fast and extremely quiet.

Cons: It crashes...a lot. May have to do some warranty with it. We waited until the drivers were out of the beta stage and with the final AMD Catalyst out of beta it cut back on the crashing. It's not as much now, but still causing system freezes when it can't recover from a crash. For the price, I am very unhappy that this is happening. I have purchased HIS products before and have always been supremely pleased with the products, but this one is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. (This card is in my husband's system that I built for him and never crashed until I installed this one.)

Other Thoughts: Hoping to get some service/repair on it shortly and hopefully we will be happy with it then.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for gaming, not so much mining.

Pros: Excellent performance in demanding titles such as Battlefield 4. The IceQx2 cooler seems to perform adequately with minimal noise in most gaming applications.

Cons: When attempting to scrypt hash, this card completely disappoints me. As mentioned by one of the other reviewers here, saying that core temperatures when hashing are difficult to control is an understatement.

This is sad, because with an effective hashrate of 880kh/s this could have been a nice supplement to my mini-farm.

Other Thoughts: If Liquid cooled with something like an EKWB block, I'd have zero complaints about this card. But as-is, it works great for gaming.

I Have this mounted in my mATX build with the following:

Coolermaster n200 mATX case
fx 6300 cpu
4x 2gb 1333 mhz ddr3 ram

The size is NOT TOO MUCH FOR A mATX case that's correctly laid out, so ignore the comment above about this case requiring a fullsize tower! It's only about an inch longer than a r9 270x.

4 out of 5 eggsA Great Card!

Pros: Great performance with effect cooling system.
Got this card on "Discount"(not really...) for $499

Cons: Looks ugly...
Still expensive IMO.

Other Thoughts: Got this card in hand for 3 days, I build a totally new computer so haven't tested on too much games. But for games I have played on this card I feel it really something i want.

Gaming performance:
FFXIV - 1080p, Max setting : runs stable at 60fps(V-sync), only drop 5-10 fps when in town with a lot players.

Thief - 1080p, Max setting 64bit : Stable at 60fps(V-sync), never dropped even 1fps, never.

Furmark - 15mins, 1080p Burn-in (I only tested 10 mins because its boring to watch it): GPU temperature never past 70 degrees(first reach at 7:03min, stable at 7:46min), fan max at 47%, still super quite.

I didn't test other benchmark because I really don't care about those number, as long as I can run games at max setting, it's good for me ;P

HIS really did a great job to keep this card cool. However, this card is not OCed, but according to HIS website it is "OC able", so I believe people can still push more power out of this card.
If you want get a R9 290 now and Sapphire Tri-x is too expensive for you, get this one instead, you won't be disappointed.

P.S. : This card is quite large, so get a ATX full tower, my mid tower barely fit it(have to slice card into 3.5'' drive slots)

2 out of 5 eggsThis card is terrible for mining

Pros: Looks pretty ... box is nice

Cons: Would be a great card if i could keep it cool , once it hit normal hasing levels with zero OC it starts burning away at 80-90c then the card shuts down.

I have to underclock it severely to get any use out of it.
I will put it in my gaming rig and see what it does but this card is weak in the cooling department despite the looks

Other Thoughts: Stay aaaaway
