  • newegg iPower for More Voltage, More Overclocking iPower design allows the card to carry more voltage, expanding overclocking capability to a new level! HIS cards utilize Dynamic Phase Control PWM IC to save power for better use. Along with improved power design, digital power design, and a two-ounce copper layer, HIS cards make the best out of power, carrying better OC capability and pushing clock speeds to the full potential!
  • newegg IceQ X² – Cooler, Quieter With IceQ X², the card is cooler and quieter than the reference cooler. The two 8mm and three 6mm wide heatpipes optimize cooling performance by removing heat from the core area, and the extra large 40 x 47.5mm copper heatsink provides a large area to dissipate heat efficiently. The two super large 89mm dual-axial fans draw a massive amount of cool air to cool the GPU directly. The Q&C fan blade increases air velocity, making cooling more efficient, while keeping the noise level to a minimum. With a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, the fan delivers reliable, long-lasting performance. The card also features fan control and monitoring; you are able to read the fan speed and Asic temperature from an iTurbo or other software. The memory and mosfet are equipped with heatsinks for extra heat dissipation. The card is below 28dB when watching movies, surfing Facebook, or working. The card remains quiet whether you are gaming, socializing online, entertaining, or working.
  • newegg Long Lasting Design: Safer, Last Longer! The card has two Bios, ensuring the card runs properly. You can always switch to the second Bios if the card does not run with the first Bios. HIS cards are engineered with the highest standards of safety, keeping them safe from any potential damage. The solid state choke stabilizes the card, while the full solid state capacitors ensure the best power quality and enhance the card’s stability in critical gaming situations! The PCB might easily warp due to prolonged hanging on motherboard and casing, potentially causing cracks on BGA solder joints and resulting in malfunctioning of the card. The backplate designs reinforce the PCB, making the PCB more long lasting and not easy deformed.
  • newegg Mantle There’s optimization, and then there’s Mantle. Games enabled with Mantle speak the language of GCN architecture to unlock revolutionary performance and image quality. (Application support is required.)
  • newegg AMD TrueAudio Technology AMD TrueAudio technology brings the world’s first programmable audio pipeline, marking a new frontier in realism for PC gamers. AMD TrueAudio technology empowers game developers with a programmable audio pipeline on the GPU, inviting them to put their unique artistic fingerprint on in-game audio in the same way that the programmable graphics pipeline brought unfettered artistic vision to PC graphics. Enabled games can feature more realistic environmental dynamics, a richer tapestry of sound effects, breathtaking directional audio, and more. AMD TrueAudio technology enhances audio realism by simulating the human brain’s perception of real-world sound, working in concert with the user’s existing audio hardware to recreate a lifelike experience.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat cards

Pros: Two running in CrossfireX, no noticeable stuttering with the latest beta Catalyst driver. They OC well. 1150/1500 stable, no problem.

Cons: The stock coolers were insufficient for Crossfire. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I originally bought one of these cards and the temps were fine, I think around 72-75C after running benchmarks and games for a few hours.

Once I got the second card the heat from Crossfire was insane. This is not limited to these cards, all 290x cards are having heat issues. However the cooler on this card was not cooling well enough.

Top card was hitting 94C while the bottom card hung out around 84-85. This was with the fans @100% which is very loud. I expected some heat, but not this much.

I was able to mount two NZXT G10's with two Corsair H55's no problem in my full tower. After running benchmarks and playing Thief for around 3 hours, temps now top out at 58C on both cards.

If you are not running water cooling, either custom loop or AIO, be prepared for insane heat when running two of these.

3 out of 5 eggsreview part 3 (i should just make a review website)

Pros: blah

Cons: absolutely does not fit any type of waterblock which is a shame. I purchased myself a rev 2.0 EK waterblock to test on the card and still no success. This card probably could have hit 1300mhz core and I could have generated some hype for this model but too bad that HIS moved the screw holes or capacitors (one or the other) about 1.5mm away from the reference PCB which is the absolute stupidest decision they could have made. I don't understand why you would screw up a great over clocking card by making it incompatible with every single waterblock in existence(obviously not a universal one). This is a ridiculous issue to have and I have wasted 300 dollars trying to water cool a 500 dollar card. Whoo hoo.

anyway. I've written 3 reviews; 5 star, 4 star, and 3 star. averaging a 4 star rating which I believe this card is worthy of. but do not attempt to water cool it. After I provided my findings to EK they changed the compatibility for their waterblocks on coolingconfigurator and obviously, they make nothing compatible. nor does aqua computer. therefore its a fair leap that nothing will fit this cards PCB... complete shame and a waste of time and money.

3 out of 5 eggsNot a reference PCB

Pros: great card... already wrote a review (I'm the one a few down with the open bench case)

Cons: This card is advertised to have a reference PCB. It doesn't. it is extremely close though.

This card used additional capacitors to deal with the dual 8 pin power connectors and the capacitors they use are larger than the reference ones. thus. my aquacomouter waterblock won't fit. It sucks. so. I thought I would update my review. great card for air cooling, do not buy if you are going to use with a waterblock. which really sucks haha.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat card, unhappy customer

Pros: Incredible card that offers up to three monitor support and top of the line gaming.

Cons: *Bulky, tad cumbersome for smaller cases. MAKE SURE IT WILL FIT BEFORE BUYING.

Other Thoughts: Burnt out within two hours of use. I've tried running it in three different rigs to make sure it wasn't a software hick up or to insure something hadn't came loose.

I'm absolutely disgusted about this, however. To celebrate my paid vacation, I decided to indulge and two day shipped this card to myself so I'd have something to toy around with for the next two weeks while on vacation. Hell, this was going to be AMAZING. I even found someone to buy my old GPU to help cover the cost of my new card...

Instead, I get to RMA this card back after it burnt out within less than a hour and a half of usage. This was my first product from HIS and I'm not sure I'll be ordering one again due to their failure rate. Out of the six reviews thus far, three of the six reviews have mentioned the card failing within 24 hours.

I'm hoping HIS will compensate me for my two day shipping and RUSH me my new card. Extremely displeased.

5 out of 5 eggs10/10

Pros: This card is great. Sits right next to me on an open station, very quiet. Keeps temps low, and fans on full blast is not all that much louder than when the card sits at idle.

Can handle eyefinity BF4 no problem on ultra. (3x 1080p) Great purchase.

Was able to hit 1200/1500 on air with +158 power in Trixx.
1100/1400 with +25 power.

voltages barely passes 1.3v at +200 in trixx. was averaging 1.26 or so in full valley runs.

highest valley heaven score i got on air was about 61fps with the usual AMD settings for the run.

Cons: Big, but just as expected. make sure it fits

Other Thoughts: A solid upgrade from sli 570s.

cpu: i7-2600 @ 3.4
ram: 16gb Hyperx @ 1600 9-9-9
256gb SSD

5 out of 5 eggsHIS R9 290x

Pros: This card is a beast. It runs fairly cool and i cannot hear the fans over my case fans unless I've been playing in demanding games for over 2 hours straight.

The card looks much better up close. The color is very appealing and the silver cross on the front looks very nice.

The backplate is very nice and prevents and flex in the card.

The cooling fans a located properly on the card; one directly over the GPU and one over the VRM chips.

Cons: The card is closer to 12". Not worth docking an egg for length when one should know these cards are very long.

Other Thoughts: I got the card when it was $459.99 and well, well worth upgrading from a GTX 660ti. WoW doesn't see much of an improvement, see as it's more of a CPU intensive game. BF4 however, that's another story.

I went from mostly Medium settings at roughly 60 FPS and i went to Full blast Ultra, at 150+ fps due in part to the pure horsepower of this card. The other part is Mantle and that makes BF4 laughably easy for this card.

Hitman: Absolution looks phenomenal as well. Far Cry 3 makes me want to live on the island. Sleep Dogs is like going to Hong Kong myself. This card makes Video games look beautiful.

5 out of 5 eggsfantastic card

Pros: runs cool in my nzxt tempest 210 mid tower case
i can have the fans up to 67% and barly hear the card. you are able to overclock with the software but i dont bother because there isnt a need to. its fast enough at stock it idles at 350mhz and jumps to 900Mhz-1ghz depending on game. you cant go wrong with this card.

Cons: its really big card. Bigger then i thought it was it almost didn"t fit in my case. it is 1/2 a centameter from touch the cables on the back of my ssd drive. i have a modular psu i had to add my spare sata power cable do to the size of this card. be warned if you have a mid tower case make sure it will fit before you buy this card.

Other Thoughts: Definitely 1 of the best amd aftermarket brand gpu i have ever owned. I have owned gigabyte and powercolor amd gpu's. This card is buy far the best and my favorite so far. I got this one on sale for $480 with 3 free games deducted from from the actual price of the card. People complain about the 3 free games. But amd has to pay the game companys for the games so they deduct it from the price of the card so i actually paid $330 for this card when this is originally a $596 gpu. So you are getting the games for free. Because you are only paying for the card and amd is paying for the games.
