5 out of 5 eggsGalaxy Geoforce GTX 480 (Fermi)

Pros: Super Fast Card. I have put it through its paces on games like Left4Dead 2 at 1600X900, Crysis2 at full definition and it works at lightning speed. Not one hiccup. I hated to finally replace my old GTX8800 but this card has made me have no regrets. Great card......

Cons: None noted.....

Other Thoughts: Just make sure you have at least one 8 pin pci power plug. If you only have six pin connections go to Newegg to buy the 6 plus 2 pin connector...works for either 6 or 8 pin connections.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Great Performance
-Not nearly as loud as everyone said
-DX11 - BF3 looks and plays so much better now.
-Newegg is sending a replacement card w/ next day shipping for the RMA.
-Bought @ $200 w/ -$25 MIR! Epic deal.

Cons: -Died within a few days.

Other Thoughts: -Coming from CrossfireX HD4890's, the performance is vastly superior
-Much quieter than CF 4890's
-Even at the same fps, GTX480 felt WAY smoother - must have been microstuttering with the 4890's.

3 out of 5 eggs$499.99

Pros: I haven't spent $499.99 on this card.

Cons: I could either buy a gtx 580 or a gtx 480 for the same price... Why is this thing $499.99?????

Other Thoughts: I gave it 3 eggs because i own one and am very happy with it. - 2 eggs for the ridiculous price.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW!!!!

Pros: Bought this to SLi my Zotac 480 that I purchased a couple months ago. I have had this up and running for only a couple hours, but I am more impressed with this then the Zotac. Granted both my monitors are connected to the Zotac (probably makes the difference), the Galaxy is running about 10-15c cooler then the Zotac. Both are clocked at 800/1050 and are ripping through everything. Scored almost 40k in Vantage GPU tests.

Cons: Tight squeeze in most Mid ATX cases. Bought an Antec 1200 with this to fix that problem.

Other Thoughts: I am absolutely blown away by the 480's. Everyone said that they were loud and very hot, but I have a 20" box fan 2 feet from my head blowing air out of my windows so I can't hear these unless I set them to 75%.

5 out of 5 eggsNewegg Strikes Again!!!

Pros: Newegg is amazing for selling video cards. They truly pass on great deals to the customers without jacking up prices to unprecedented prices...

I got 2 of these video cards when they were back in stock on Friday, October 21st. At that point they were on sale for $199.99! What a deal! Two GTX 480's in Sli for $400?! I was game.

Galaxy (starting this summer) extended their warranties on their video cards. If you don't register the cards, you will receive 2 years of warranty from the date of purchase. If you go on their website and register the card you will receive an extra year of warranty on your video card!

Packaging is nice. Mini Hdmi cable to Hdmi is always nice!

Cons: The cards didn't launch at this price?

I know that is a sarcastic con, because when they were released they were the fastest single GPU on the planet!

They do have a tendancy to get hot as most of us know. Having a case with good airflow will help keep the cards temperature to stay lower!

Other Thoughts: Even with the price tag now at $249.99, this is still a good deal ($500.00 for both). If you put two of these in SLI, you can acheive high frame rates even in Metro 2033, with 1920x1200, Dx11, AA cranked up, with Frame rates around mid 50 FPS!

When these cards were in stock, I posted this listing on a Evga forum. Maybe some of you who will be reviewing these cards bought them as a result of reading my thread? :)

Make sure that if you want to SLI these cards, you will need at least a beastly 850 power supply, but you would be better to have a 1,000 watt power supply or more!

You can google "Nvidia gtx 480 sli power supply" and this will pop up a Nvidia Sli-zone page, which gives you a list of supported Power supplies that are compatible with tri sli/sli configurations.

5 out of 5 eggsUpgrade from 2 3870X2's

Pros: Noticeably smoother card compared to the ATI graphics. Very quiet for such a high end model. The fan does not sound like a lawn mower. Fan speed and over clock is easily adjustable.

Cons: None. Just waiting for the prices to drop to add a second one!

Other Thoughts: This is longer then the ATI's so if you decide to get one make sure that your case will support this. Most people will either have to get the tin snips out to modify the case or simply get a full size case. I run mine in the Cooler master HAF 932 which fits beautifully with lots of extra room so it runs stable at 41 degrees Centigrade. You have to be sure to have good airflow or this card will run hot as will any other card.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Card Ever!

Pros: I went from a GTX8800 to the 480 and cannot believe the difference. Was going to buy two and SLI them, there is no need. Galaxy has outdone themselves with this card! I HIGHLY recommend it.

Cons: None that I see so far.

Other Thoughts: For the money, and I shopped around, there is not a better card out there in my opinion.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressed

Pros: This thing is fast, actually had much more significant gain in performance than my 5870 then I expected. Looks awesome, works awesome, I am loving it.

Cons: a little expensive

Other Thoughts: people keep talking about how much heat it produced and I am just not having that problem. It idles at 43C and with a 70% fan speed it peaks at 74C which is great.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic gaming card

Pros: Pretty much the same as any other GTX 480. Fast and supports 3D Vision. Galaxy has their own EVGA Precision software. It does the exact something, just has a different skin on it. The fan isn't nearly as loud as HardOCP made it out to be, while gaming. Constantly OC'd, I keep the fan at a constant 70% while gaming. The card rarely goes over 80°C and the fan is only as loud as the small fan on the north bridge of my EVGA E758 motherboard after heating up.

Cons: Runs hot, 92°C when substantially overclocked with the fans between 70% and 90% and doing a furmark burn in for thirty minutes. I wonder how long the card will last at this temperature. Galaxy doesn't offer a lifetime warranty. That's the only reason I'm subtracting an egg.

Other Thoughts: Galaxy doesn't have a forum for its users to interact. I very highly valued EVGA's forum. I hope to see Galaxy launch one in the near future.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for CUDA programmers

Pros: It has more shared memory, and that in and of itself makes it better than any previous parallel technology

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: A lot of purchasers just buy these for games. I play games 'occasionally', but in my spare time, I write simulation code (SPH) for astronomy programs.
The biggest factor for my previous efforts in SPH on the last CUDA technologies was the 16KB shared memory size. For SPH, you need a minimum set of memory for each object: mass, vel, density, and so on.
I could previously only run 256 threads per block.
When I ran 512 threads, the program would fail.
Without changing a thing except the number of threads, I put in the new card and ran it.
Fantastic, it ran all 512 threads. I don't know how well it will work for games, but if you're looking for CUDA programming, and the shared memory size wasn't enough, you'll be able to run a lot more threads without changing anything else in your code.
