5 out of 5 eggsGreat low end card!

Pros: -Great for workstations and HTPCs.
-Doesn't get very hot (even in slim/cube-like cases.
-Great for minimal gaming (see other)
-Great price for an emergency card (keep one as a spare incase your everyday one goes, you wont be sorry at this price).
-An Amazing surprise! I plugged DVI to HMDI out of this thing to my 27" Asus monitor and guess what?! It carried audio! Not sure how the heck this happened, but I did not think it was possible.

Cons: -None! Considering I knew what I was using this for.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned minimal gaming. Unigine was brought to a crawl and the number of cuda cores is so low on this, I wouldn't use it for anything other than displaying an image on your screen, but this is what you want right?
I purchased it to upgrade my HTPC from integrated Raedon 3000 to this. The contrast and brightness were extremely increased and it does not have the annoying black bard shrinking issue that the Raedon had with DVDs (tried messing with the catalyst control center and still had issues).
As mentioned, this thing can carry audio over DVI (assuming you need certain monitors/TVs too).
Have not tested it with dual monitor support, but I imagine it does it like any other card.
I am very pleased with this card and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cheap pick-me-up from their integrated graphics.
Also, as mentioned in pros, for the price it is nice to have one on the side incase another one of your cards goes.

5 out of 5 eggsGalaxy 8400gs

Pros: -Cheap
-Low power
-Good for a name brand machine with dead on-board graphics (all too common)

Cons: -Not powerful enough to much of anything special

Other Thoughts: Got it for a customer with a Huey Packer (initials) with dead on-board graphics. It might not be the most professional move, but getting her this card saved her about 40 bucks over a new mobo.

5 out of 5 eggsEverything it's supposed to be

Pros: I bought mine in 2010 and I just recently upgraded, but I'll keep this one around as a spare since it still functions 100%. I used it to play some older games like TES IV Oblivion, NFS Underground/2, Most Wanted, and GTA San Andreas. They played without a hitch on medium-high settings. The price was right, and after 2.5+years of running nearly all-day/everyday, it's still ticking. Money well spent.

Cons: It wasn't free.

Other Thoughts: I've read other reports of cooling fan issues, and I have had to clean this one once after leaving my PC idle during some sheet-rock repair that got everything REALLY dirty (totally my fault), but a good cleaning and a little all-purpose spray-lube made the fan nice & quiet again. Galaxy states that they've since redesigned their heat-sink (mine is the older bronze color) for better & quieter cooling, but the older design seems to work just fine. I've read elsewhere (and confirmed) that earlier versions (mid-'09 & prior) had S-Video instead of HDMI, so make sure you're not getting an early model if you want HDMI.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I expected and more

Pros: The card seems to work better than expected. I am able to run certain games on high, or ultra high graphics. I got more than my money's worth and I am very happy with this card.

Cons: The manual shows an HDMI port, my card did not have this. It's not a big deal, but I would have liked to have the option.

On some newer games between 2010 and 2012 there is some input lag, but that is to be expected. Otherwise, they are playable never-the-less

Other Thoughts: I don't know what the difference is with the brands but this particular card seems to be much more stable than the MSI model, which died on me in less than a year, and could not perform at these levels. On top of that, the MSI Geforce 8400 GS required an extra 50w minimum to operate. What extra component did it need to run? Aside from aesthetic design, they both seem to be similar in build.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of JUNK - Bad Fan

Pros: N/A

Cons: Bad fans on these video cards. It should be expected for something so cheap. I had one card for 3 months and then the fan started making a horrible buzzing sound on bootup. I purchased a replacement and its fan started buzzing even worse after being installed less than a week. You get what you pay for. My advice... STAY AWAY!

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None

Cons: Contacted tech support before buying the card and said it comes with an HDMI port. Got the card and found it it came without HDMI. Not even a DVI to HDMI adapter. Contacted tech support again to complain and just plain told me I need a adapter. What a joke! Makes me wonder how this company hire their support people without any clue what their products comes with or without. Will never buy a Galaxy product again.
