Based on the much anticipated new architecture Kepler (the successor to the Fermi architecture), the NVIDIA GTX 680 is not only the world’s fastest GPU but also the most power efficient one. The streaming multiprocessor is redesigned for optimal performance per watt. GPU Boost technology is also employed to dynamically increase clock speed to improve performance within the card's power budget. The GTX 680 also benefits from several improvements to cooling design.  The fan is composed of acoustic dampening materials for a significant noise reduction and more enjoyable gaming experience. The custom fin stack is both shaped for better airflow and embedded with a high efficiency heat pipe to effectively cool the card without circulating heat back into the system. Play games quieter and cooler.

With GTX 680, gaming is smoother. FXAA and the new TXAA eliminate jaggies. Games get super smooth edges without tanking the performance. Adaptive V-Sync improves upon a feature that many gamers swear by. So you can play with V-sync enabled and not worry about sudden dips in framerate. Finally, a single GPU now powers a full NVIDIA Surround setup plus an accessory display. There is simply no better way to play a racing game or flight simulator. Add in NVIDIA PhysX technology, and the GTX 680 delivers an amazingly rich gaming experience. For upgraded gaming experience, SLI technology lets you link up to three GeForce GTX 680s together.

  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA GPU Boost Up until now, GPUs have operated at a fixed clock speed when playing 3D games, even if they have the potential to run faster. GPU Boost intelligently monitors graphics work load and increases the clock speed whenever possible. The result is that the GPU always performs at its peak and you get the highest framerate possible.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
  • newegg NVIDIA Surround with Up To Four Monitors Nothing is as breathtaking as playing your favorite games across three monitors. At 5760 x 1080, the expanded field of view fully engages human peripheral vision and provides for the most immersive experience in racing and flight simulators. Add in a fourth display to keep tabs on chat, email or web while you are gaming.
  • newegg Two New Anti-aliasing Modes: FXAA and TXAA Anti-aliasing smoothes out jagged edges but can be demanding on framerates. FXAA is a new antialiasing technology that produces beautiful smooth lines with minimal performance impact. And with Kepler based GPUs, you'll be able to enable FXAA in hundreds of game titles through the NVIDIA Control Panel. The second mode, TXAA, is an in-game option that combines MSAA, temporal filtering, and post processing for even higher visual fidelity.
  • newegg NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready NVIDIA 3D Vision brings a fully immersive, stereoscopic 3D experience to the PC. A combination of high-tech wireless glasses and advanced software, 3D Vision transforms hundreds of PC games into full stereoscopic 3D. Get up to 2x monitor and keyboard brightness with NVIDIA 3D LightBoost technology*. In addition, you can enjoy 3D movies and 3D digital photographs from in eye popping, crystal-clear quality. (*Requires NVIDIA 3D LightBoost monitor or notebook.)

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent card

Pros: Fast, quiet, easy to install, excellent price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've been buying and upgrading my video cards for years. I always buy the value card, the card that gives fair/good performance at a fair/good price. The problem with value cards is they do not help you in the future. Value cards play current games at medium settings. One year later the card is out dated.

In comes the GTX 680. This is an expensive card, $500 MSRP. This is not a value card! This is a card that will easily max out any current video game, and will continue to max out any game for the next 3-4 years. Although this was not originally a very affordable card, prices have been reduced quite a bit. Newegg was much more expensive than the "Jungle", so I bought it there. After rebate this card was only $399. I also had a small "Jungle" credit and I used some CitiBank ThankYou reward points at checkout. Brought this card down to about half off. Then I sold my two old 5850 video cards and I almost got this card for free. Even at $399, its about the same price as some GTX 670's. I play Battlefield 3 on Ultra and it runs around 90-120 fps. Insane!! This is the second fastest card made, the fastest being $1,000.

I don't know a lot about Galaxy, but they have the same standard 3 year warranty everyone else has. I've read many reviews of cards from all companies, and no company is without complaints. I have not read very many negative reviews about Galaxy. The rebate process was easy.

The GTX 680 cards run a little warm because of how fast they are. During BF3 it usually runs at 70℃, but that is all dependent on fan speed. Other more expensive cards have more fans but you may pay a lot for that. And if the card is under warranty, who cares? This card also overclocks very easily. I highly recommend this card!

5 out of 5 eggsHappy Customer

Pros: It is quiet and performs great. Max settings for Borderlands 2 right out of the box. Feels solid and runs great. I have note measured temp changes, but I don't feel a need to. Budget price card for it's class. Multiple output options and easy Tri-Monitor.

Cons: Manufacturer website is lacking, and registering your card for the extended warranty makes you want to run a virus scan. Just not polished and makes me concerned if I ever have to deal with an RMA.

Other Thoughts: I am running some quiet 200mm case fans and was worried about noise. This card manages to keep quite and lets me enjoy my games in piece.

I was hesitant to spend this much on a video card, but it is what I needed to utilize everything my rig has to offer. I am glad I made the move. This was a great buy. My buddy ordered the same card a week prior and got a slightly better deal. Regardless, I am not complaining. If all goes well, I won't have to drop money on a video card for quite some time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Great card. Overclocks really well. I have my clock boosting to over 1210 mhz without any problems and memory to 6300 mhz. Temps can get a little high but if you use a custom fan curve you can keep temps below 70 degrees no problem.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsCRASH CRASH CRASH

Pros: It runs my games such as Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and Battlefield 3 on maxed settings at very good frame rates. Cheaper than most GTX 680's in the market.

Cons: CRASH CRASH CRASH!!! I downloaded all the latest drivers and I can't even play my games for 1 hour since it crashes less than 20 minutes of gaming. I get an error message of "Windows Kernel mode drivers stopped working."

Other Thoughts: I just built my first gaming rig and I am very disappointed with buying this GPU. I probably won't buy from this company again unless my problem is resolved.

Manufacturer Response:

I'm sorry you're having such a rough experience so far with your new 680. Have you contacted our support team yet for help with this issue? If so, were you able to get it resolved? If there's anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to contact me at and I'll do my best to make sure your gaming is crash free as quickly as possible.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card

Pros: Had 3 - 42" 1920 × 1080 screen running Borderlands 2 and Just Cause 2 on high settings on everything and ran consistently over 30 FPS

680 series have a bunch of awesome options like no display port required for 3rd monitor

Cons: Came with Borderlands 2 and Assassin's Creed 3 coupons. Wish I could select an alternate game as I had purchased Borderlands 2 a week prior to purchase.

Other Thoughts: Coming from a XFX HD5850, this thing is stupid. It gives me the same performance my 5850 did on Borderlands 2 however its doing it in 3 monitors with Physx maxed.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent GPU

Pros: Quiet, even under load.
Runs all my games(skyrim, arkham city, bf3, etc...) without a hiccup.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I've done some overclocking already and it consistently gets to 1200 MHz during games and only gets to about 45C

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a beast!

Pros: Temperatures are decent for a reference card, 32C on idle and 78C max load after an hour of gaming.
Everything done on 1920x1080 monitor.
Crysis 1 Very high with texture mod 30-45fps avg 40fps
Battlefield 3 Ultra settings 55-120fps avg 60fps
Batman Arkham City Max Out 8-80fps avg 43fps

Gigabyte 990FXA UD3
ADM 1090T @ 3.6ghz
Case Cooler Master 912 Half with a 200mm front fan, 200mm top fan, and 120mm side panel fan.

Cons: Registering the card on the Galaxy website is a little iffy. Still waiting for a respond. Other than that, no cons what so ever.

Other Thoughts: I wish I have gotten myself a non-reference card. This is the only one I manage to get at the moment. Still, its a very good graphics card.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat but terrible support

Pros: Runs cool, fast, everything you'd think

Cons: I went to register card online and never got email and support ticket was never replied to and sat on hold for an hour and was told to call back in a few days if i still don't get email..

I am calling back again and have had my phone on speaker phone for an hour and a half waiting for someone to talk to.

I demand individual attention from Galaxy before I change rating. non existent customer support..

5 out of 5 eggsIn Stock !?!?! 4:21 AM 5/2/12 CST

Pros: Under load - < 60*C
Idle - 35*C
Single Card / Single Monitor Benchmarks on Crysis2: 30-40 FPS
Up to Quad SLI Tri-Monitor: 170 FPS
Boost Clock Feature from Nvidia: Noticable Frame rate increase and clocks to 1070's mhz range .. so higher than advertised =)
New AA engines make for a cleaner viewing enviroment / more efficient
--- Less power draw than previous Fermi line

Cons: Cost of course but this is top of the line.
Using this card for 3d programs and gaming will be a bit of a concern. Nvidia designed these new cards to be gaming work-a-holics so the usefulness for 3d rendering or like programs wont see much of an improvment from the GTX 570 or better cards.

Other Thoughts: This is an awesome step forward from Nvidia and hopfully the first of many to come. ...Now just need to convince my apt office to let me by on a months rent to get one. =P
