Laggy Video
- Pros: Works for basic operations.
- Cons: Lag, lag, lag.
- Other Thoughts: This card should be able to play Team Fortress 2 and other low end games. Yet, no matter what the game, this card LAGS something horrible. I installed the latest drivers and still no luck. Basic games are unplayable. Don't even bother with this card.
Died after two months
- Pros: The card performed well for the basic purposes I used it for, which were mainly windowed applications (Office, Acrobat, IE/Firefox/Chrome, etc.). I didn't try it for gaming, though I'm sure it would have performed just fine.
Another plus: because I purchased this card during Black Friday, I only spent $19.99.
After the card stopped working, Sparkle had an easy, fairly quick RMA process.
- Cons: It died after two months. TWO. On boot up, the screen would stay black and the motherboard would beep incessantly. I RMA'ed the card and had Sparkle send me a new card. Unfortunately, because they discontinued the 512MB model, they gave me the 256MB model instead. They didn't bother to provide me with an explanation when I received the replacement card, so I had to call to find out what happened.
- Other Thoughts: Ran with Windows 7 Ultimate, Aero enabled.
Perhaps there was something wrong with the 512MB cards--it would certainly explain why they discontinued the model. The 256MB model seems to be highly reviewed and popular based on what I've seen on newegg. We'll have to see how it shapes up!
*NOTE: The two eggs rating applies SPECIFICALLY to this 512MB 8400GS model and NOT the 256MB model. Because I only recently received the replacement 256MB card, I haven't had enough time to determine how it measures up. So far, no problems. We'll have to see!
Worked well while it lasted
- Pros: Worked fine while it lasted
- Cons: Crapped out on me the second day I used it
- Other Thoughts: Would not recommend "Sparkle" brand
