SPARKLE 700021 (CALIBRE -- GTX680) GeForce GTX 680 2GB 256-Bit Video Card

Transform your games with reality-redefining gaming power with the SPARKLE GeForce GTX 680, which delivers a new level of realism and environmental interaction in the hottest HD titles. Powered by the industry-leading 28nm Kepler architecture, the GeForce GTX 680 packs powerful NVIDIA SMX shaders and abundant amounts of memory that deliver a performance punch in the latest 3D games and applications. NVIDIA GPU boost technology raises the performance bar by maximizing clock speeds on the fly for maximum graphics power in every gaming scenario. A full array of NVIDIA GTX technology, such as NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync, NVIDIA Surround and TXAA AntiAliasing, revolutionizes your gaming with smooth and true-to-life visuals like you have never experienced before.

  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA GPU Boost Up until now, GPUs have operated at a fixed clock speed when playing 3D games, even if they have the potential to run faster. GPU Boost intelligently monitors graphics work load and increases the clock speed whenever possible. The result is that the GPU always performs at its peak and you get the highest framerate possible.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
  • newegg NVIDIA Surround with Up To Four Monitors Imagine the thrill of playing your favorite games across three monitors. At 5760 x 1080, the expanded field of view fully engages human peripheral vision and provides for the most immersive experience in racing and flight simulators. Add in a fourth display to keep tabs on chat, email or web while you are gaming.
  • newegg TXAA AntiAliasing Antialiasing helps to smooth out jagged lines in games. Existing techniques like MSAA are effective at removing jagged lines in still images but struggle with crawling and shimmering artifacts when the player is in motion. TXAA is a new antialiasing mode that combines MSAA, temporal filtering, and post processing for the highest edge quality and minimal shimmering during gameplay.
  • newegg NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready NVIDIA 3D Vision brings a fully immersive, stereoscopic 3D experience to the PC. A combination of high-tech wireless glasses and advanced software, 3D Vision transforms hundreds of PC games into full stereoscopic 3D. Get up to 2x monitor and keyboard brightness with NVIDIA 3D LightBoost technology. In addition, you can enjoy 3D movies and 3D digital photographs in eye popping, crystal-clear quality.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful picture

Pros: The image was beautiful. I immediately noticed the upgrade over my 7870. I saw previous details within mech warrior that even at full detail didn't show, like trees swaying and a bit of crisper color. The card looks sleek black with more black. It looks right in my black computer. I have a black ROG motherboard, and a black NZXT case. The black power supply with black cables also looks nice. If Black is your theme inside your case this card works. The cooler looks tight and it is nice that the fans are obscured. It's fast GPU-Z says that it has every bit of the advertised clock speed, and the temps are held in check while the fans are nearly silent. You can hear them spin up sometimes then settle in at a lower speed.

Cons: I subtracted zero eggs for this but it's something you'll definitely want to look for.

My heat sink was initially too close to the fans. When I first installed it there was a buzz of fan on radiator. I quickly turned it off. I released a screw a bit on the heatsink, adjusted it and re-tightened it.

Other Thoughts: Check all of the fans first. It'd be nice if this wasn't something to worry about but it is.

4 out of 5 eggsPoor Cust Support

Pros: Everything you'd expect from this model card.

Cons: Sparkle gives you a card to register the product on their website, but the website doesn't list this this model, so you can't register for any warranty, etc. Left them a message & received no response. Their company is not primarily based in the USA apparently. Decent card, but I'd suggest others be safe and choose another brand.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect Sparkle

Pros: Very cool and quiet, as another reviewer said the boost clock can get as high as 1201MHz. The price at the time of purchase was a steal.

Cons: Build quality is slightly lacking, the black finish on the heat sink fins was scratched slightly. As this is just cosmetic and doesn't affect performance it wasn't a big deal for me.

A washer/spacer was missing on that back side of the heatsink, causing the rear third fan to be too close and not spin. I was able to fix this by getting an size 0 philips screw and slightly move up the sink in a higher position so the fan could move freely and put less strain on the pcb. I'll buy myself a space so the heatsink will be proper but this is honestly something QC could had spotted and corrected.

5 out of 5 eggsCool Box, cooler card

Pros: Smaller than the 5870 it replaced (will fit in mid-towers), very cool running with no negligible sound. My antec 300 only has 120mm and 140mm fans for Cpu and case and this card is still inaudible next to those. Price is incredible, maybe it's an error? This is as cheap as tri-fan 670s.

The box looks radical.

Cons: Some people might not like unicorns

Other Thoughts: best buy period get 3.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Card

Pros: 1. This card is extremely quiet. Even when stress testing it I couldn't hear it. I have never used a card that was this quiet, and I have built a lot of gaming computers.

2. The temperatures stay extremely low. Idle it sits around 29°C, gaming it peaks at 69°C, and during stress test it got up to 73°C. All this was with the fan set at 40% max.

3. It has a solid design. There is no PCB bending whatsoever. The back plate does a great job of adding that extra support.

4. Newegg states that it has a three year warranty but this is incorrect, it has a lifetime warranty.

5. This card comes with a great overclock. The boost clock on this card is 1204MHz. The Newegg description list only the base clock of 1124MHz. 1204MHz is the best factory overclock you can buy on Newegg at the moment.

6. The price is very low for the quality of card you get. This is a top of the line card.

7. I decided to list this last, but it is why this card works so well. The design of this card (having the fans below the heat sink fins) is amazing. It makes me wonder why not a lot of companies do this. It seems to have a drastic impact on performance and noise.

Cons: 1. I wish it came with 4GB memory, but as of right now this is not an issue.

2. The name is horrible. "Calibre Captain." Who came up with that name.

Other Thoughts: This design works better than any other design I have used at keeping temperatures and noise down... This is my first time buying a Sparkle product, and I am very happy with my purchase. If you are on the fence about what 680 card to buy, get this one. I would not be surprised if other companies start using this design.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and quiet

Pros: This card is just as fast if not faster than the (2x) Radeon 6950s and the GT430 physx card that it replaced. The build quality is great and the temps remain low even during heavy game play.

Cons: For me there really are no cons, A free game or two would be nice though.
