Pros: This is a lot of card for the money. Good performance on GIS and CAD when it works
Cons: Crashes - screen lockups, vertical pinstriping, blue screen with illegible message - even the VGA driver breaks down in a crash.
It got worse when my agency inflicted MS Exchange Server client on my workstation. Crashing several times a day.
Other Thoughts: ATI needs to do something about the drivers, or else recall the card.

Great card!

Pros: Does exactly what it is suppose to do. I tested both this and a Quadro FX1700 and this card performed slightly better in "Real-World" tests in Maya and SoftImage XSI. I do animation and I am able to both scrub and play in through my timeline in the viewport with two detailed characters on the screen. It even runs UT3 and Gametap well.
Cons: Not a gaming card! Wish I had enough for a higher-end card in some circumstances.
Other Thoughts: I run Vista 64 with 4 gigs of RAM, Q6600 and an Intel 975 motherboard (Intel Made). The card runs very cool, the fan is darn near silent and I have had NONE of the issues the other reviewers speak of. From the sounds of it they should stick to store bought systems.

Very good, when it doesn't crash

Pros: Excellent performance in high-end 2D (Photoshop CS4) and low-end 3D (Google SketchUp). Drives 2 large monitors (30" EIZO and 22" Samsung) at full-res and very high-quality color.
Cons: Video driver crashes frequently (every 1-3 days) in Vista 64 Pro, after certain mouse actions (double-click & drag, etc). Windows TDR recovery system tries several times to recover, then system crashes completely.
ATI tech support is very weak. My case got escalated three times since May 2008, and dragged on for months. The "ATI Professional Support" tech that I dealt with tried to blame my hardware & tried to blame Microsoft. When I finally pointed out to him MS's spec for video card makers (all card operations must complete within 2 secs), the ATI guy said it was "impossible" for makers to meet the spec!
3-4 ATI video driver updates were released in that time period, none of which have resolved the problem.
Other Thoughts: I finally decided to pay the $60 MS fee for tech support, in order to get this resolved. In fairness to ATI, the MS guy was able to improve things for me somewhat via several settings changes, independent of video driver:
a) make sure USB mouse is on its own port (not via hub) b) make sure mobo chipset driver is up-to-date c) on systems with > 4GB ram, enable I/O driver remap above 4GB
Before working with MS, the video driver crashed at least once per day. Now, it crashes about 1-2 times per week.
