5 out of 5 eggsExcellent card

Pros: This card is very fast for Autocad, Revit, and Rhino. The image quality is exceptional and I have yet to bog it down even with some huge Revit models. I had been using nvidia cards for that past 11 years and just got sick of their constant driver changes and finicky settings. As soon as I installed this card and saw the Windows screen on initial boot-up it was obvious that this was superior to the nvidia cards I had been using (previous card was Quadro fx1500). The image was clearer and the colors were better than I had ever seen on my monitor. I also purchased a Quadro 2000 at the same time to do a side by side comparison and the image on the ATI blew the Quadro away. It wasn't even close. They both handled everything I threw at them, but the Quadro card was duller (color-wise) and ran much hotter.
The V5800 is a great card for cad work and produces a fantastic image on my Samsung PX2370 monitor.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Can't speak for games because the extent of my gaming is Plants vs. Zombies, which it blows right through. I am so impressed with this card that my next system will be all AMD.

1 out of 5 eggsFuzzy Image Quality

Pros: Bought this card for photography editing, using Photoshop CS5, in a new ASRock-based i5 computer. About the only positive thing one can say about this card is that it's fast.

Cons: On the con side, the image quality is best described as fuzzy ot defocused. A $100 NVidia card isn't much slower, and does crisp-as-an-autumn-morning images. I have tried updating the driver and doing such tweaks as the software allows, but it is still unusable for quality photographic work. We will see if we can sell in online it to a gamer.

Other Thoughts: This may be a fine card for gamers or for people doing CAD, 2- or 3-D, but for photographic purposes it is a true waste of money.

3 out of 5 eggsOK GPU

Pros: Cheep, relatively small doesn't take allot of space like others in the workstation cat. Gives ok screen acceleration

Cons: cheep looking built, noisy fan!! for a workstation level GPU I'd expect much more.

Other Thoughts: I can't get over the cheep noisy cooling fan. other then that..it's ok uptill now for all CAD perp.

1 out of 5 eggsNot a Pro Solution

Pros: Don't really come to mind. It turns on?

Cons: I'm a pro graphics user and also use to work and design graphics drivers for high end accelerators. We work in programs like, Maya, Nuke, etc. Primarily Maya.
-Using the Autodesk approved drivers I see all kinds of issues in maya. We also tried the latest and greatest and few other versions just to be sure. Wire frames that don't update properly, meshes that stutter on the way to their final position. Painting weights issues, 3d marquee selection issues, etc etc.
-Even in a simple 2D text editor you see stray pixel issues that work themselves out if you force a redraw by maximizing a 3d app then minimizing it. Basically forcing the frame buffer to swap.

This is not the way to work and has been a painful couple of test weeks.

Other Thoughts: From what I can tell 30 bit also does not work as expected. I put this in the other options because it very well could be the setup, but we've done everything that the ATI docs say. Setup the test scenes in Photoshop and it doesn't actually engage (monitor is 30 bit).
We bought this card because of the serious concerns about heating issues on the new Nvidia cards. I'll take those or stay with the old quadro FX cards if that's as big an issue as people make it out to be.

5 out of 5 eggsFast renders!

Pros: Incredible performance! Handles not only the most raytrace intensive scenes, but entire animations with ease! This card had made my work so much faster and easier now that I no longer have to sleep over waiting for a completed render just to find that I need to go back to the drawing board- this card is more than incredible!

Cons: No cons at all

Other Thoughts: Newegg had this delivered very quickly and I couldn't be more satisfied with their service!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: I've paired this GPU with a Proliant DL385 G7 server to utilize RemoteFX for my Thin Client machines to make their experience much closer to that of a stand alone desktop. Yes, this card is not the highest end card, but it is a single slot card with no additional power requirements which were high priority. 1GB of memory to distribute to the Virtual Sessions, a decent amount of stream processors to dedicate as well. To put this in comparison, a G45 express chipset from intel with intergrated graphics has i think 10 Stream/Shader Cores so i can easily run 20 sessions with more Graphics horsepower than a basic desktop.

Cons: price/performance ratio is much less than Radeon line but support is much better and higher quality components means stability which is what your business customer is concerned with.

Other Thoughts: I can use a Radeon at equal or more performance and less money, and yes it will run RemoteFX (though it says its not supported) but High Availability Servers, need the best quality parts to go inside it and the FirePro line takes those best GPU components to make their cards.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Mid-High Range Card

Pros: Excellent performance, gets a 99.3% Reference Match and over 55FPS at all times in Cinebench on my system. Excellent price to performance. Plan on putting at least 1 more in my system. I can't even overstate how happy I am with this card's performance to price ratio. With workstation cards, it's rare to find something like this.

Crossfire capability on a midrange card.

2 Crossfire bridge fingers, allowing for "Quadfire". Unfortunately my soundcard's capacitors block one of the slots, so I can only achieve up to "Trifire" unless I remove the soundcard.

No PCI-e power supply connectors are required, the card draws everything it needs out of the PCI-e slot. Even so this card is an overachiever.

Cons: Stock cooler is loud at higher speeds. Not jet engine loud, but it'll be the noisiest part of your PC if your case fans and CPU heatsink fan(s) are silent like mine. At 25% speed, it's just as silent as the rest of it though.

5 out of 5 eggsGot an answer...

Pros: Easy set up, great results with windows 7 and A-CAD.
Runs fast, but cool.

Cons: confusing description and lack of support literature.

Other Thoughts: How do I delete my earlier review?
I had a difficult time reaching ATI customer support. But when I did, they made my day.
From the product description here on NewEgg and from the photo on the product packaging, I thought I needed to power this device directly (my First Build in 10 years), but I found out that all the warnings about having a power supply with two cables for the card are for not. This card is powered through the PCI-E slot.
And I almost sent it back!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat SolidWorks Card

Pros: Completely supported by SolidWorks. though it doesn't have 64-bit native support, runs absolutely fine in 64-bit windows 7 ultimate. Handles large assemblies (25+ parts) in "realview" and in wireframe without getting out of breath. This is also the one card available through Newegg that I could find that has crossfire support. Some people see the fan kicking on high for a half a second at powerup as a con, I absolutely see it the opposite way: it lets you know the darn thing is working! Less likely to burn up a GPU that way.

Been learning to use simulation as well, no problems there!

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Gonna wait for the prices to come down on this one, then start buying up more and go 2x, 3x, or maybe even 4x :3. Also, I've found that the AMD Phenom II x4 3.4 Ghz black edition to be epic for photo rendering in SolidWorks. Full glass chess sets into HD files in under 5 minutes, can't beat it.

MSI 890FXA-GD70
Phenom II x 4 Deneb BE
8 GB Gskill RIPJAW RAM
2 WD 1.5 TB hard drives
ATI Firepro V5800
Couldn't be happier.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 3 months

Pros: supports crossfire, low profile and single slot.

Cons: This worked fine for a while then, one day the display went out and both the video cards I had crossfired had the fans spin super fast and then my computer would crash. Will have to RMA them, going to do it this weekend. Hopefully they will be a good set, if not will consider buying a different brand.

Other Thoughts: I used this for 3D rendering and there are times when the video card will bug out with Maya showing different display errors on selection, but I have had this happen on other computers as well.
