Features

Features
AMD Eyefinity Technology
Industry-leading multidisplay technology enabling highly immersive and unrivaled multitasking experience across up to four displays, powered by a single AMD FirePro W5000 graphics card.

GeometryBoost
Allows the GPU to process geometry data at a rate of twice per clock cycle resulting is a doubling in the rate of primitive and vertex processing. Triangle rates increase two-fold relative to a GPU that does not possess GeometryBoost.

DisplayPort 1.2
Simultaneously output multiple, independent audio streams and display content at resolutions beyond standard HD (maximum resolution of 4096x2160).

Energy Efficient Design
AMD PowerTune technology dynamically optimizes GPU power usage and AMD ZeroCore Power technology significantly reduces power consumption at idle.

AMD ZeroCore Power
AMD ZeroCore Power technology leverages AMD's leadership in notebook power efficiency to grant our desktop GPUs the ability to power down when your monitor is off, also known as the "long idle state."

AMD PowerTune
AMD PowerTune is an intelligent system that performs real-time analysis of applications that utilize a GPU. In the event that an application is not making the most of the power available to the GPU, AMD PowerTune can improve that application's performance by raising the GPU's clock speed by up to 30 percent - automatically.

Video Codec Engine (VCE)
A multistream hardware H.264 HD encoder, for power efficient and quick video encoding.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Support

This review is from: AMD 100-505635(100-505842) FirePro W5000 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFire Supported Workstation Video Card

Pros: Card Worked great with AutoCAD

Cons: There was a problem with different colored blocks showing up on web browsers.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card on an online auction from Newegg.com on 01-16-2014 and about a month later I stated getting different color block on the screen with other programs. I contacted support and I had to return the card to Canada my own expense (cost me $45.25). The reason I purchased this card is because I was told that the service us awesome for the workstation video cards If there is an issue. You can get way more card for less and I recommend staying away from AMD and ATI (its who made the card). The service is poor and it will cost you more in the long run if there is even a small problem.

This is a review for the AMD W5000 workstation video card and not Newegg.com

4 out of 5 eggsGood, But Inconsistent

This review is from: AMD 100-505635(100-505842) FirePro W5000 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFire Supported Workstation Video Card

Pros: * Low power consumption
* Fantastic color rendering
* Quiet

Cons: * Artifacts on screen

Other Thoughts: I'm using 2 of these in CrossFireX mode. I could not be happier with the performance. I have a fairly small case (BitFenix Prodigy M), and an Adaptec 6405 just above the second card. There isn't a lot of room so the second card gets toasty and everything but my cards are water cooled so there's little air flow. When the second card has been operating at significant capacity (Solidworks, Rhinoceros; turbine assembly) the card will overheat and artifacts are all over the screen. This is my fault for not getting the card proper air flow. I'm getting 2 EK FirePro water blocks to add to the water cooling setup for these cards and that should permanently resolve this issue.

A small number of artifacts do appear in normal operation of Windows 7 Pro (x64). By normal operation, I mean web browsing, watching videos, working with spreadsheets, etc. It is for this that I docked an egg. The cards are not stressed at this point and I expect operation to be flawless.

On the up side, the color depth is impressive. I find even the icons on my desktop to be smoother compared to my W530 using the same monitors (NEC EA244WMi x2). Oh, and Skyrim looks phenomenal and is completely fluid (no mouse lag!) even with large textures and complex ENB mods. There is some flicker in game though as artifacts become present and then are drawn over correctly.

2 out of 5 eggsmarginal performance

This review is from: AMD 100-505635(100-505842) FirePro W5000 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFire Supported Workstation Video Card

Pros: Works right out of the box. 30 bit color works great with Photoshop. Excellent with PTC Creo 2.0

Cons: My GTX 670 is faster in Solidworks 2013. I use Solidworks daily.
AutoCAD and Inventor are much slower with W5000, but no surprise there.

Other Thoughts: You need to know which software will benefit from a workstation card.

1 out of 5 eggsLOUD FAN

This review is from: AMD 100-505635(100-505842) FirePro W5000 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFire Supported Workstation Video Card

Pros: I haven't had the card long enough to list the pros.

Cons: LOUD fan! VERY LOUD fan.

Other Thoughts: This is my first professional graphics card and I cannot believe the fan noise for such an expensive item. It is definitely from the card. Its quiet when my system boots up and gets louder as the workload increases. I have a quiet system that I built myself and the buzzing from this fan drives me nuts.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

This review is from: AMD 100-505635(100-505842) FirePro W5000 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFire Supported Workstation Video Card

Pros: This is the best video card I have ever owned. Bar none.

In Maya I can rotate around a fully textured 100 million polygon scene at 20 fps!

The color fidelity is indescribably better than any consumer card. Nearly silent when fully loaded and doesn't even need a separate power cord.

This thing puts every consumer card to shame in professional apps. Even a GTX 680 looks gimp in comparison.

The right tool for the job.

Cons: Ur kidding right?........

Other Thoughts: I was a little leary about plunking down 450 for a video card. You get what you pay for.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat 3d Cad Workstation Card

This review is from: AMD 100-505635(100-505842) FirePro W5000 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFire Supported Workstation Video Card

Pros: Very satisfactory workstation performance - great bang for the buck! Up to date connectivity. Multi-monitor support. Optimization for PTC Creo Parametric 3D Cad, transparency rendering. 120Mhz refresh rate.

Cons: None. It does what it does very well. I have no idea about gaming performance - don't care - but I suspect it is very competative.

Other Thoughts: I chose this graphics card for my new 3D CAD workstation running PTC Creo 2.0 Parametric under Win 7 Ultimate (system details below). What can I say other than it works great, very fluid model manipulation - I can grab a complex 3d model (aircraft) with my mouse and spin it wildly without any indication of lag or hesitation - renders at max settings in seconds - can find no cons for my application as this card gives me no reason to think about graphics performance.

For what it is worth, Windows Performance Monitor currently shows that my most complex Creo model currently consumes about half of the installed 32Gigs RAM.

WEI for both Aero and 3D Buisiness & Gaming Graphics = 7.7.

System Details:

ASUS P9X79WS Motherboard
Xeon E5-1620 Processor (Not Currently Overclocked)
Kingston 32Gig DDR3 1600 ECC (4X8g) RAM
Intel 520 series SSD
AMD W5000 Graphics
Cooler Master Storm Scout 2 Case
Corsair HX750 PSU
Intel Liquid Cooling Solution

This review is from: AMD 100-505635(100-505842) FirePro W5000 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFire Supported Workstation Video Card

Pros: Works out of the box. Haven't tried it with ARC GIS Desktop yet.

Cons: So so video playback on Windows 8.
