The ultimate graphics power is here, with the SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB graphics card.

Based on the cutting-edge 28nm GCN architecture, this card is built around 2048 Stream Processors, and enormous 6GB/384-bit GDDR5 memory - a World first for a consumer graphics, to deliver mind-boggling performance for multi-screen gaming as well as demanding professional applications such as content creation, video editing or rendering. The boundary of performance can be further pushed by EZ Boost Button, which increases the GPU clock frequency to extract more performance for smoother game frame rates. Vapor-X cooler is based on a new vapor chamber design and delivers exceptional thermal performance you can rely on even during extreme load condition. This card has built in onboard LEDs for easy monitoring of the PCB’s temperature at a glance.

  • newegg EZ Boost Button: By default, Vapor-X HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB runs at 1000 MHz and dynamic boosts to 1050 MHz on the engine with the memory clock at 6000 MHz effective. Simply press the EZ Boost Button, the base clock is increased to 1050 MHz with dynamic boost to 1100 MHz on the engine. The fan profile and power tune limit is also changed to performance settings.
  • newegg Blue Power+ Blue Power+ consists of many premium designs, 8 phase power design for GPU VDDC, 1 phase for VDDCI and 1 phase for MVDD, brand new double side Black Diamond Choke, Directfet and 12 layer PCB to ensure the board run fast and stable. The brand new double sided Black Diamond Choke 4 reduces the temperature around the power design portion in lab test when compared to the reference PCB design.
  • newegg PCB Temperature LED Built in onboard LED for users to monitor the PCB temperature.
  • newegg Vapor-X Technology SAPPHIRE’s innovative Vapor-X cooling technology allows products to run not only cooler but also much quieter. A Vapor-X product means a virtually silent gaming experience and more headroom to explore performance tweaking!
  • newegg Dual-X Famous for SAPPHIRE's exclusive cooling solutions like the award winning Vapor Chamber Cooling technology - Vapor-X, SAPPHIRE's reputation for innovative excellence continues to grow with the introduction of the new dual-extractor technology - Dual-X. Dual-X is a highly efficient multi-heatpipe cooler with dual fans that provide quiet and very cool operation during normal operating conditions, and superb cooling performance even under extreme load.
  • newegg Black Diamond Choke & Full Solid Cap Design Choke is an important component of the graphics card. By working with the component engineer, Sapphire’s exclusive choke is 10% cooler and offers 25% more power efficiency than a normal choke. The graphics card will be more reliable and save energy. Improved reliability and better overclocking are possible by using only high-polymer, aluminum capacitors which posses far superior characteristics than regular aluminum capacitor for a longer product life. When operational temperatures drop by 20°C, the product life span is extended by a factor of ten, when the operational temperature increases by 20°C, the product life span only decreases by 10%.

Pros: Card operates well. Cannot comment on usage though because of cons listed below.

Cons: 4 free game promo from AMD is a joke. I've had the card going on 2 weeks now and cannot download the games. The site is constantly down. What a joke. Only reason I picked AMD over NVIDIA was the 4 free games. Thought I'd give AMD a chance since I've used NVIDIA for several years now. But this proves that their customer service is still as bad as ever. I sent them an email and have gotten no response at all. Don't buy any AMD card expecting to get free games - it is a con.

Other Thoughts: Buy NVIDIA not AMD.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Card

Pros: 6 Free games, super mega card, plays all the latest games at 2560x1440p at 60fps, 6gb of memory. Looks freaking cool.

Cons: This an expensive card, it gets really hot 94 degrees in Crysis 3 full specs, I have it on a Haf X with tons of fans so there's no air flow problem, it just a hot card, so beware if you're planning on buying the card, also it gets loud, but I don't mind that.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these, I'm really happy with the cards.

5 out of 5 eggsClick Buy!

Pros: Build quality is amazing its like owning a Lamborghini , the card has a nice weight to it so that great looking back plate is really nice addition to the card!

Now i have two of these cards in crossfire and im currently using a dell 30'' at 2550x1600 and all I can say is WOW

current fps:

crysis 3 :60fps all the time it never drops a frame and stays locked at 60 maxed out with vsnyc on and everything maxed!

bioshock infinite: 149 fps with everything maxed and 60fps with the frame locked by vsync

LOL: 189fps maxed and 60 with the frame locked and vsync on

in other words this card has it all and does it all while staying really cool in my coolermasters haf cased

upgraded from two 6970 and the performance is all there, its like going from a v6 to a v12

Cons: about the only con and its more of advice is that this card takes up 3 slots so if you are going to crossfire these bad boys make sure you have enough pci slots away from each other, which wasnt a problem for me on the asus Rampage extreme 4

Other Thoughts: my build:

Asus Rampage extreme 4

intel 3970x cooled by h100i

32gb rip jaws 8x4

two sapphire vapor x 7970 6gb ghz edition in CF

samsung 512 gb ssd for OS and games

ax1200 watt by corsair

5 out of 5 eggsSo shiny, my precious...

Pros: **Quality Construction**
The card is definitely a thing of beauty. The backplate adds a nice touch and helps keep things cool. The dual cooling fans are huge, and perform their task very well. The card idles around the 32 degree range, and I've never seen it go past 68 under full load and overclocked.

This single card scores 10k on 3dMark11 "Performance Mode", which is pretty awesome.

6GB GDDR5:
This is probably uncessesary for the vast majority of users. If you game at 1080p please buy the standard 3GB version of the card and save some money. You won't notice a difference. I currently use 3 monitors and plan to go to 5 when MST Hubs become available (google Club 3D MST Hub, they are already hitting UK markets, hopefully US soon).

This card is very quiet. I am using a "Fractal Design" black steel mid-tower with sound dampening panels (probably deserves a lot of the credit here), and at 50% I cannot hear the fan without putting my ear to the case. I haven't needed to push the fan past that, and I usually run it at 42% which as I said, keeps the card at 68 under full overclocked load. Pretty sweet.

Cons: Expensive of course, but compared to other 6GB offerings (GTX Titan, HD7990), it's fairly affordable.

The main "con" is the size. As others here have mentioned, the card definitely covers 3 slots. With my current setup this means I have to run a 2nd card (if/when I get one) in my 4x PCI Express slot, which is not ideal. I am currently ordering a CPU/Board to remedy this situation (and gain PCI Express 3.0!). Just something to check on your board beforehand if you plan on getting 2 and don't want to overhaul your whole PC to accomodate them.

Also, power consumption is a big deal here. The box recommends a 750w supply! 2x8 pin connections are required. I did some googling, and found that under full load and OC'd, this card uses almost 400w by itself. Pretty serious stuff.

Other Thoughts: This card is not faster than a GTX680, which I moved from to use this. The pixel-pushing power is pretty much identical. The difference is only noticeable when multi-monitor gaming, which is what I do. Anyone with a single 1080p display need not apply. Save the money and get a nice SSD or something. Or donate it to me so I can buy more RAM for my new board. :)

1 out of 5 eggsGot A Bad Card

Pros: Skyrim on max settings @ 1920X1080P was like butter smooth, until it died.

Cons: Played games for 10 min then watched a video and when i switch to fullscreen the whole screen had artifacts so i restarted and they still there even in BIOS!!!
I switch between all different Drivers.
Did fresh O/S install.
Tried it in other 16X PCI 3.0 slot.
My power supply is 1000 watts, so its not that.
Nothing fixed the artifacts, its so bad i can see anything and have to use my other videocard.

Other Thoughts: I would stick to better manufacturers and avoid a situation like this. I used the game codes so now if i try return ill only get like $480 back and i payed $600. I hope they can replace the card for me because this is ridiculous.

5 out of 5 eggsBest 7070 out at his time.

Pros: Live this card plays everything I through at it on highest settings no problems FC3, Cry3, BF3 not a issue and if you play some older games like Counter Strike Source it will run bench at 197 fps. That is almost stupid. Love this card going to buy another soon to cross fire.

Cons: People who cry cause they got a bad card it happens get over it. And people who cry about price. I have around $3000.00 plus in my rig and 600.00 bucks is a drop in my bucket get over it. Or get a better job so you can afford it.

Other Thoughts: None!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Card is fast, beats my CrossfireX setup hands down. Seems pretty quiet, never really notice any excessive noise. Running 3 DP monitors, and Wacom Cintiq with no issues at all.

Cons: There was a driver issues when I first got the card, it would freeze and have to recover, but updated the drivers and have had no issues.

Other Thoughts: Would definately purchase again, and am planning to add another to current setup very soon.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the Price

Pros: -Backplate so the card won't bend over time/weight of the cooler
-Lots of overclocking room
-Relatively quiet
-Low Temperatures
-6GB of dedicated GDDR5 ram

Cons: High heat Discharge

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from two Radeon HD 7770's in crossfire and there's no looking back. If you have an old set up of graphics card and can afford the price get this card. The higher amount of dedicated RAM let's the card go into high levels of anti-aliasing with easy.
