4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!

Pros: Great card, exceeds performance expectations... Be aware that card requires 2x8pin connectors to power it.

Cons: Mine has an hdmi audio output problem... Cuts in and out until i push the card to performance mode, then it performs as advertised (even when not in performance mode). Sapphire offered to repair/replace, too lazy to send in for such a small issue... -1 egg for QA though.

Other Thoughts: Check your box for game codes.

1 out of 5 eggsDoA

Pros: The fans turned on, and were quiet at idle.
Game bundle is now 4 games, so whatever card I decide on now I will also get Tomb Raider!

Cons: A $420 paper weight.

Compared to my 4890 the card looked/felt cheap: cheap plastic for fans/shrouds, didn't feel solid, and the decals on the card were noticeably crooked
.
Not recognized in Windows when not primary card.
3 PCs would not post when used as primary card.

Before this card I ordered an XFX 7950 Double-D; which I returned because the stock cooler was terribly loud and it was voltage locked. Even though it didn't perform up to my expectations, it was extremely sexy looking and physically felt rock solid. Sapphire you should take some notes in these departments.

Other Thoughts: The card I received has 8/8-pin PCI-E connectors.

Pictures shown here indicate 6 & 8-pin PCI-E connectors on the card.

Sapphire's site does not show a picture of the PCI-E connectors, BUT if you read the info for this card under Accessory it lists a 8-to-4 pin & a 8-to-6 pin adapter. I am making an assumption from this information that the card in fact is supposed to be 6/8-pin.

The box was sealed on both ends when I received it, and nothing appears to have been tampered with. The serial number/SKU/Part Number/Description on the box match that of the card. I can't figure out why this card that I received is 8/8-pin.

In case you're wondering SapphireTech the serial# is A131500027346.

The card has been RMA'd with this number: 55466560

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate Review

Pros: Too awesome to list all features.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'm running Skyrim on ultra with 48 graphic and texture mods(with about thirty other mods) and still at 60fps with a few dips around 52fps. Keep in mind I only have a duel core i3 3220. Will be updating to a i5 or for my next upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsAMD AWESOMENESS!!!! 7970 HEAVEN!

Pros: Its ALIVE and not DEAD! This gpu is awesome....I have taken this to 1050mhz core clock stable and even hit 1100mhz core stable ...but I get nervous when overclocking so I return it to stock as the Sapphire TRIXX overclocking utility has a Windows sidebar option and shows CoreTemp and VRM Temps.... I was mining bitcoins getting 630+mh/s while overclocked and VRM's where at 90c I didn't like it that high even though card was beautifully stable, so I back it down to stock.

Cons: The Cons is that in 10 years this card will most likely be worth about $50 bucks or less?

Other Thoughts: Idle Temps 30c
Gaming Temps 55-58c
with Fans on Auto

Bitcoining Temps with Fans on 100% - 72c - 75c @ 65F ambient temps in room.

I was so happy with this card....I bought another....now I have X-FIRE 7970's..... Can you feel the "GEEK ENVY" ....my friends just say "WOW!" but inside they say "I wan't AMD 7970's in my system!"

THANK YOU NEWEGG - SAPPHIRE - and AMD!!! I am a NEWEGG - SAPPHIRE - AMD FANBOY!!! THANK YOU!!!

5 out of 5 eggsBeast Mode

Pros: Beast Mode. All I can say Crysis 3 On High 50-65 fps
Easy Overclocking card.
Now if you did your research HIS iceq is the better performing card but IMO Sapphire is better known card for AMD. Like EVGA to Nvidia. and honestly the noise lvl on this card is lower than MSI and gigabyte and the performance difference between these 2 other brands is VERY minimal. Loving it.

Cons: 1st card I got a dud but no biggie Newegg took care of me.

5 out of 5 eggsBought it on Black Friday 2012 Extremely Satified with this 7970

Pros: Stay cool on high load max temperatures I've seen is 68C.
It won't go past 1100MHZ overclock because my card came voltage locked. Well now I am running Catalyist driver 13.5 and they are solid for my windows 8 system, runs sleeping dogs on extreme with his res pack at 48.9fps with min of 34.4 and Hitman Absolution with extreme settings with average of 49.8 min 38.9. If I drop the setting to the very high i get averages of 83fps for both games. I'm very happy with this card and the driver updates from AMD have made it much better!

Cons: Well mine came voltage locked, i bought it for 320$ on sale so i can't complain with hitting 1100 mhz overclock but I one good thing is that I can reach 1550 mhz overcloak on memory but i have it at 1500mhz.

Other Thoughts: My system:
8350 FX 4100mhz
16GB DDR3 1600
Vertex 4 256GB

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very fast card stock

Cons: This is a NON-reference card, Everything originally lead me to believe this was a reference card, but upon arrival I noticed it has 2 x 8 pin connectors (not the 1-6 pin and 1-8 pin that the picture shows). I did see the blue PCB compared to the black PCB that I have read about everywhere else but assumed that was a picture error or maybe they just changed the color. Stupid me should have done more research. This card is NOT the overclock friendly card that the reference cards Sapphire supposedly used to use, I can manage a max of 1060 core clock, not the 1200+ for the reference users.

Other Thoughts: I do plan on keeping this card and just running it at stock clock speeds since it is still quite fast. I am disappointed at the semi false advertising though, I was really looking forward to having a reference card that was very friendly. I guess I can only hope that CCC comes out with drivers to support the non-reference Sapphire cards, or maybe (but highly doubtful) Sapphire can help out and trade me for a 7970 dual x with a reference PCB.

5 out of 5 eggsSapphire 7970 OC

Pros: This is an OC edition 7970 for a standard edition price. Great, cool running card. I have it overclocked past GHz edition speeds and it is solid.

Cons: Price is really the only con, as it hasn't gotten any lower, rather higher, over the past several months.
