Transform your gameplay with the SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6970 graphics card. This card is based on cutting-edge architecture and features 1536 stream processors and 96 texture processing units. Clock speeds of 880MHz for the core and 1375Mhz (5.5Gb/sec effective) for the 2GB of GDDR5 memory produce incredible graphics and reality-redefining environment interaction in your favorite DirectX 11 game titles.
This new design has two 90mm fans with thin impellers that can move the same amount of air at 10% lower rotation speeds than conventional fans, keeping the noise level down, and their special dust repelling bearings contribute to high reliability. With the Dual BIOS set to the standard position, dual fans keep this model quiet and up to 25% cooler than the standard model even under full load conditions. With the BIOS switched to the performance setting, the core voltage of the GPU is raised to 1.2V, the fan speed is set to a high performance profile, and the powertune adjustment for overclocking is raised to 50%, maximizing performance of the card by increasing clock speeds either with AMD Overdrive or with SAPPHIRE TriXX up to a ceiling of 1500MHz core, 2000MHz memory.
Solid AMD/ATI Based Card
Pros: Churns through every game I play, the most intense of which is probably SWTOR. Running dual monitors (hdmi + dvi).
Cons: Dual monitor setups are very specific in regard to the i/o's that you use. There's only the one hdmi output, so that one's obvious. This is nothing any experienced user shouldn't already know. Something that might annoy an experienced user is the ATI Catalyst software. It's just clunky for manipulating display settings. I find most gfx software to be clunky though.
Other Thoughts: I bought this particular card 1) because I wanted to stick with AMD/ATI for compatibility concerns/synergy/ and 2) because it was the "latest" card that matched the specs on my m/b. There's also a 3) there was nothing in the reviews to scare me. :-)

NOT a PCI-E 2.0
Pros: Great card for the price. I wish it was like this last year
Cons: None at all
Other Thoughts: This card is not a pci-e 2.0 card/ All and I repeat all 6000 series right from mobile to desktop gpus are all pci-e 2.1. Not a big deal but a bit of false advertising

Pros: this card is able to run Eyeinfinty, with a single card with out issue
Cons: getting a bit dated
Other Thoughts: I picked up one like these about a year ago for the same 199$ price , to test before I bought a 2 for crossfire to run eyeinfinity. I found one was fine .it is still a great deal if you wanna run Eyeinfinity
