1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: Probably fine for a single monitor

Cons: This card is absolute garbage. There is so much misinformation about it no one seems to know what it can/should/does do.

The AMD/ATI reference says a R9 270 or R9 270X can both run 2 DVI and 1 HDMI output at the same time. The caveat is the two DVI displays must be identical...well mine are and it doesn't work! Hours of forum scouring led me to a lame suggestion that some found you can't hot swap the monitors. So if they aren't plugged in at boot you will always be forced to disable the DVI to run the HDMI and or disable HDMI to run the DVI.

Then comes the reality that this awful trick worked...kind of. The HDMI output is scaled and horrid quality. Everything over HDMI looks like it's a bad heavily compressed jpg from the 1990's.

To add insult to confusion if you do disable both DVI outputs the HDMI does not improve. It's still a scaled compressed disaster. I tried several HDMI cables to rule out the cable as the culprit.

Then we have the fact the manual makes no reference to the physical switch on the card that changes the BIOS settings. So for the first several hours I couldn't even get my machine to post because this undocumented switch was not mentioned in the manual I downloaded from Sapphire. Silly me, if I had just scrolled to the bottom of the stupid product page I would have seen a blurb about it...heaven forbid they put something like this in the MANUAL!

So now I'm sending this worthless thing back and of course New Egg is wasting more money by charging for shipping despite the product not working as advertised. Of course you could jest "depends on whose advertisement you payed attention to." because as I noted at the top of this everywhere you look some one seems to say something different about what the card is capable of. In fact forums are abound with the poor HDMI output, how the advertised put put options don't work, and how them spending money on various display port adapters still fail to fix the problem and allow them to run the monitor outputs as advertised.

The box basically says the card will only run 2 monitors if you use the DVI, yet the card is supposed to be able to run 6 monitors and the AMD output reference explicitly states the 270chip will run exactly what I got this for. See http://support.amd.com/en-us/search/faq/170 Then on the Sapphire site it says “supports up to 3 display monitor(s) without DisplayPort 4 x Maximum Display Monitor(s) support” Really who the hell do you believe!?

3 out of 5 eggsOnly lasted 7 months

Pros: Sapphire AMD Radeon all my trusted brands, GDDR5, 256 bit 2 GB, solid build, could handle almost anything I would throw at it. No need to overclock.

Cons: Card suddenly died 7 months later and I am not a heavy user, only one monitor running through hdmi. 3 loud fans on a very long card.

5 out of 5 eggsBudgeet eyefinity cards..

Pros: Nice back-plate, ability to run tri-fire/quadfire setups

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have 4 of these on a X79 Gigabyte board with a 3930K, eyefinity 5760x1200. Runs all my games on high/ultra settings. BF4 averages 90-180fps depending on map/players. Highly impressed with these cards, abeit, 1 of mine died the other day outa the blue. Time to RMA.

Pros: Runs games at decent fps No spikes or anything of the such, Doesn't overheat

Cons: Does not Overclock well with amd catalyst, it occasionally (about once or twice a day) turns to a solid color with lines horisontally the color is random and i monitored it and it is definitely not overheating, For some reason it sometimes fails to launch source engine games

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!

Pros: Fast, Great performance in games, Doesnt break 60C when playing ultra (fans usually at 100%) Overall great looking card

Cons: -1 Egg because i got the silver bundle of games and a few days later they changed it to gold so got ripped off there. Fans recently make a buzz when ramping up.

Other Thoughts: Overall its a great card and communicates greatly with my system.

1 out of 5 eggsnot happy

Pros: plays most games that I play at max settings with no problems at all. high fps. in high visual settings it drops to 30-40 at max settings but still plenty to play with.

Cons: Lots. This card has crashed on me several times. I've made sure to update my drivers but it doesn't help. There's graphical bugs in every game I play such as corrupt models, textures blackening, items jumping and phasing in and out, some things simply not appearing etc. Lots of problems, it also runs hot but is pretty quiet for the most part.
I've attached a video to show one of the problems. The video shows a white screen, however usually when I have this problem it's green (not sure if that'll help pin point what it was or not). It's very frustrating, I've had it happen quite a lot.
Perhaps I simply got a bad card through unfortunate luck?

Other Thoughts: I bought this card back in March I think (6 months ago) due to a friend suggesting it to me. I gave it a review earlier this year but decided it might be worth reviewing again. Like I said, perhaps I just got a bad card, but I unfortunately waited too long to get a refund or an exchange on my card. Aside from the crashing, bugs, and heat; performance wise this card is pretty good.
