5 out of 5 eggsVapor X R9 280x TRI X oc

Pros: What can I say? The R9 280x is the 7970. This is the card they should have put out. Beast cooling along with 1100ghz. She doesnt break a sweat. I have my R9 crossfire with my 7970. Let me tell you the power and performance. my Firestirke benchmarks are 13356. All games are on max. Now its a big card i tell you that. Its about a 2 inches longer then my Dual X 7970. Had to move a fan but other then that it looks like it belongs there. Three 100mm fans make the best of cooling and dont really kick up a lot of sound. Voltage is locked but i have her overclocked at 1130mghz. Hasnt gave me a issue as of right now. If your on the fence or need to save on some cash, get this card. I was lucky and got it for 319 and 3 free games!

Cons: Only con I see is there isnt a back plate. Its not worth taken a egg off cause the card is solid.

Other Thoughts: I also have it paired with a i7 4820k. Together with the crossfire its a dream.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card

Pros: Awesome cooling and very quiet. There are enough reviews for the 280x out there. enough said. I did do a lot of research for the best cooling solution out there. Well.. I've found it. Replaced a Crossfire 6950 setup and wow what a temp and noise difference

Cons: None

2 out of 5 eggsnever switch to AMD

Pros: nice cooler, 3gb vram.

Cons: unstabled, cant run DX11 titles, just everything on the inside is horrible that I have experienced

Other Thoughts: This is my first and last time switching with AMD, had to RMA it because for some reason it wasn't running DX11 games like Crysis or Battlefield, it would always freeze and then I have to reboot, and then not only that but it locked my display up that I could no longer get into windows, I had to do a clean install of windows 8, lost everything on my hard drives and SSD and then after that all of a sudden it just stopped even booting to bios, I have never in my life experienced this with all the Nvidia cards I purchased not even one hiccup with Nvidia cards, not only that but when I had to purchase a return label of 15 dollars just to ship it back (still in shipping) and not only that but Newegg charged me twice and im probably going to get a overdraft fee on my bank account now. wish I never sold my gtx 770, just the one time I really wanted to switch to a different company because I thougth the card looked awesome. Never again will I go this route.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks WHEN it works

Pros: Great card, Runs everything on ultra
Typically quiet
Can overclock well(Though i don't)

Cons: This tier of cards from Sapphire and maybe just sapphire in general have had a bad run of cards. Consistently bad cards.

Other Thoughts: I currently use the hd &970 vaporx(directly compareable) and will be upgraded to this through Sapphire tech support. I have 4maed 4 cards in about a year, and have gone from the Regulard 7970 to the Vapox, to now this.

I will rerate this review once i receive the new r9 card and see how well it performs.

2/4 cards had blown capacitors
1/4 cards had a bad fan
1/4 is currently undiagnosed

Not sure what the issue is but it seems consistent.

If these did not have issues it would be a 4/5 to a 5/5. I left it at 3/5 eggs due to the amazing customer service i have received from them. They have payed for my shipping and worked with me to upgrade twice now to help resolve the issue despite it being an "odd streak of luck" to get 4 defective units in a row.

I understand as much as we want it to be all technology can't be perfect, and they are cheaper than asus or other known better brands so if you want a decent card for cheaper, this is it... but be prepared you could have to deal with RMA down the raod(if you aren't comfortable with that)

5 out of 5 eggsThis the 280x you want

Pros: Runs 3~5 degrees Celsius cooler than my other 280x. The vapor chamber seems to work more when hotter, which is is good. Card does HD games amazing. And mines at 775k/hs stable. Card also looks very nice

Cons: I wish the pcb had a back plate, just a minor complaint

Other Thoughts: If you are getting a card to game and mine on get the vapor, that extra cooling will help in the summer months

1 out of 5 eggsArtifacts at Stock Speeds

Pros: *Fast, capable video card.
*Quiet, effective cooling. I haven't seen the card break into the 60's while gaming.
*Nice looking card

Cons: Artifacts in game and on the desktop at stock speeds! I never once overclocked it!! It's in a well cooled, ventilated case. Not an overheating problem, as the card is staying under 60C while gaming. Of course, this happens days after my "Return/Refund" period ends with NewEgg.

Other Thoughts: I want to like this card. It plays games very well, but has artifacted at stock speeds. (1100mhz/1500mhz). Never overclocked.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry that you are having these problems with your card.

If your card does not operate correctly after Neweggs Return/Refund period then we deal with thr RMA.

We hope that the RMA goes smoothly.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card!

Pros: Card works great! Idles between 35'c and 45'c. Underload hits about 70'C after 20 minutes under msi kombuster.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Price is still a tad high IMO but wont have to upgrade this for at least 2 years. Which is good with me
