The Radeon R9 290 is the weapon of choice for gamers who demand the best. It's based on the new 28nm Hawaii GPU architecture and introduces the support for DirectX 11.2, capable of rendering reality-redefining imagery in the hottest titles. With a massive number of stream processors and a gigantic 4GB GDDR5 memory, this GPU delivers the performance you need for smooth gameplay at extreme settings. The new CrossFire technology allows you to build a multiple graphics card configuration without the use of interconnect bridges. With Ultra Resolution Gaming, you will leave HD in the dust by gaming on displays much, much larger. A rich set of AMD innovative technologies is included, such as App Acceleration, AMD PowerTune, AMD ZeroCore, and AMD HD3D technology. With these technology advancements, you'll get more than one way to elevate your gaming experience.

This model is factory overclocked to 1030MHz (947MHz for standard) for smoother gameplay. An array of SAPPHIRE’s premium features, like Vapor-X Technology, Tri-X Cooling solution, Black Diamond Choke, and Full Solid Cap components, makes this card the diehard gamers’ top choice.

  • newegg The Most Powerful, Sophisticated Cooling Ever This card features an array of innovative cooling design, including Vapor-X Technology, Tri-X Cooling Technology, and a PCB Component heat spreader. SAPPHIRE’s innovative Vapor-X cooling technology allows products to run not only cooler, but also much more quietly. A Vapor-X product means a virtually silent gaming experience and more headroom to explore performance tweaking! Sapphire's exclusive triple-fan design pushes out the heat more efficiently than standard dual fans. Along the edge of the card, the PCB is extended and one of the copper layers is left exposed. An additional heatsink mounted directly to this copper layer allows heat absorbed into the PCB from the GPU and other components to be transferred to the heatsink and cooled by the airflow. This feature alone can reduce core temperature by 2°C.
  • newegg Black Diamond Choke and Full Solid Cap Design The choke is an important component of the graphics card. By working with the component engineer, Sapphire’s exclusive choke is 10% cooler and offers 25% more power efficiency than a normal choke. The graphics card will be more reliable and will save energy. Improved reliability and better overclocking are possible by using only high-polymer, aluminum capacitors, which posses far superior characteristics than regular aluminum capacitors for a longer product life. When operational temperatures drop by 20°C, the product life span is extended by a factor of ten; when the operational temperature increases by 20°C, the product life span only decreases by 10%.
  • newegg SAPPHIRE Temperature LED Indicator Sapphire's LED indicator allows you to monitor GPU temperature in the easiest way.
  • newegg SAPPHIRE Intelligent Fan Control (IFC) With IFC engaged, if this system is running simpler applications such as 2D work or watching video, only one of the three fans will operate (when under 60°C). The noise level is therefore about 20%-29% lower than regular fan setting, resulting in near silent operation.
  • newegg Mantle There’s optimization, and then there’s Mantle. Games enabled with Mantle speak the language of GCN architecture to unlock revolutionary performance and image quality. It’s a game-changing innovation developed by AMD.
  • newegg AMD TrueAudio Technology AMD TrueAudio technology brings the world’s first programmable audio pipeline marking a new frontier in realism for PC gamers. AMD TrueAudio technology empowers game developers with a programmable audio pipeline on the GPU, inviting them to put their unique artistic fingerprint on in-game audio in the same way that the programmable graphics pipeline brought unfettered artistic vision to PC graphics. Enabled games can feature more realistic environmental dynamics, a richer tapestry of sound effects, breathtaking directional audio and more. AMD TrueAudio technology enhances audio realism by simulating the human brain’s perception of real-world sound, working in concert with the user’s existing audio hardware to recreate a lifelike experience (on supported games).

3 out of 5 eggsBlack Screen Help!

Pros: For all those having the BSOD NOT BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH BUT BLACK TRY THIS...
I STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE BUT NOT AS BAD NOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO IS DOWNLOAD THE TRIXX SOFTWARE FOR THE CARD OK. Then you need to up the speed of your fans from 20 % to around 50% Then you need to underclock your card..... That's right Underclock your card from say 1030 to 980 example. Then the black screens should go away... That's right you I and all of us have paid 300 plus on a card that we have to underclock in order to get it to work yep that's correct...I have all but 1 card in my systems that are AMD..... And this is the only one I have that I have to underclock the card in order to run stable otherwise BSOD....

Cons: SAME AS ABOVE REMEMBER DOWNLOAD TRIXX SOFTWARE TO MAKE THIS CARD WORK THAT SAPPHIRE KNEW HAS ISSUES.

Other Thoughts: The card should of never been released in this condition I really wanted to give it a 5 egg here at newegg it is not neweggs fault at all its SAPPHIRES FAULT...
where ever I pay 3 times the amount I would normal for A motherboard you would expect it to work... SADLY IT DONT,,,,

5 out of 5 eggsHappy camper

Pros: This card is a Beast! It runs Very cool, with a good fan set up through Trixx. I can play every game I've tried at Ultra or highest settings with a max temp of around 75 C. Frame rates aren't even a question here, This card cuts through games like butter and stays for the most part Silent while doing it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I had alotta trouble with the drivers at 1st AMD didn't respond to my cry for help until a few days later, by then I had already reinstalled windows so I ignored them right back ;). However the New OMEGA Catalyst is AWESOME and installs with ease. fps are through the roof about 90 avg fps on Sniper Elite 3 with lows in the high 60's and highs around 180! This card is so far well worth my $$ and I certainly recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsUltra like a Killer Instinct Combo

Pros: -Looks pretty sweet. Like if Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat turned himself into a gfx card, this would be it.
-Runs everything really well at max settings
-Triple fans. You can never have too many fans.
-Easy install. It's essentially plug 'n' play, depending on your computer.

Cons: -Despite it's Sub-Zero like appearance and 3 fans, it does not share his cooling abilities. Doesn't ever get crazy hot and hasn't overheated and crashed out on me like my old NVIDIA EVGA card did, but it gets noticably warm during intense high-res gameplay.
-A bit bulky, which again, reasonable for it's performance, but it might give you some trouble fitting it into smaller cases or motherboard, covering up other ports and the like, so keep that in mind.

2 out of 5 eggsGood card but has flaws.

Pros: The card is fantastic. Can run most games I throw at it at max settings.
Runs silent
Price.

Cons: ***BLACKSCREENS***
At about the 4th day having the card it started to black screen on startup. I removed all the drivers and reinstalled the latest.(just recently I did the 14.2 Omega AMD drivers) and nothing. I have to restart my computer about 2-3 times for it to actually stay up. Sometimes it does not work at all and I have no choice but to boot in safe mode and system restore the computer back a couple days.

Other Thoughts: The card is great. It really is. But, the black screen problems are very frustrating and it seems to be VERY common with these cards.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat for 3D, bad for everything else

Pros: -Very powerful card
-Very quiet
-Excellent 3D performance

This card is quite powerful, runs BF4, Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, Star Citizen with no problems and everything on ULTRA, good frame rates too

Cons: -Unstable on idle
-slightly large card

I have been getting the same black screen issue that other's have been having. Even with the new Catalyst Omega drivers, the card would still black screen at random times or when idle when not using 3D; which is surprising for a card like this. I've already created a ticket with Sapphire and I'm hoping to hear back from them with regard to the black screen issue. Can't return since I'm passed the 30 day return policy.

Other Thoughts: Bought this card about 2 months ago and wasn't aware of the black screen issue until it happened. I don't OC my hardware and everything is stock.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat, when it works,

Pros: Very beautiful card. Runs like a dream. Stays cool and quiet. Ran highly modded Skyrim like a champ.

Cons: Video card won't stop freezing my PC. Sometimes it's right after boot. Sometimes it's 15 minutes. Sometimes it's a few hours.

My screen just turns grey, not black. No way to get out of it other than rebooting the PC. I've tried everything I can think of. New drivers. Old drivers. Switched PCI slots. Used on UEFI on legacy modes. Nothing works. Card clock settings are completely stock.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat while it worked

Pros: Was great while it worked for 3 months. Maxed out all games paired with my FX8350

Cons: After 2-3 months of owning the card, it began crashing to a black screen while browsing the web or sitting on the desktop. Soon enough, anything 2D began crashing the card. If I managed to get a game launched quick enough, the card would be fine; but the second I went back to the desktop - boom, black screen.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd it through Sapphire, which took like 4 weeks. I got my replacement card yesterday and it has been working great so far. However, I will never purchase an AMD card again. This is my 2nd AMD card ever, and the 1st one (an HD7870) died after a few months as well. AMD is at a 100% failure rate for me. I have owned about 7 Nvidia cards and none of them have died. Heck, my parents still have a very old GeForce FX5200 that's going strong.

5 out of 5 eggsThe sexiest looking video card I've ever seen! Period!

Pros: - Awesome performance
- Premium quality
- Stunning good looks! ThankfullyI have a nice-sized window in my case to show it off
- The most exquisite heatsink you will ever feast you eyes on
- My card doesn't seem to get as hot as some others with AMD cards have suggested (perhaps do to the heatsink)

Cons: - It doesn't do my laundry or make me breakfast

Other Thoughts: I absolutely frikkin love this video card! It's beautiful with an utterly gorgeous, well-made heatsink; it doesn't seem to get too hot and purrs like a kitten on max settings, no matter which game I throw at it!

It's the best video card I've ever owned and I've owned some great ones. For me it's the build quality of this card that sets it a mile apart from the competition. I couldn't be happier with this card and can't wait to buy a second to run in crossfire once the price drops a bit more.

I've owned EVGA, XFX, ASUS, and a few other, but this is my first Sapphire card. However, if Sapphire continues to make cards this good, it won't be the last card I own from them. As long as they stick to this kind of quality I'll be buying nothing but Sapphire branded cards in the future.

Kudos Sapphire on unmatched quality in a video card!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing and fast card!!

Pros: Very quiet, given it is powerful and has three fans.
Runs Crysis 3 no problem on max graphics in 3D 1080p
This card is obviously high end and very very fast. I got it on sale for about $300, but now that I have it I can say I would have gladly paid full price. I have always liked Saphire AMD cards and this one is no exception.

Cons: I had some trouble getting all of the drivers to work, particularily the Raptr program that comes with AMD drivers. I disabled the program from running at startup because it kept crashing several games. The games wouldn't even get past the title screens before freezing. Without Raptr running everything was fine. I contacted AMD support about it but never heard back.
Also, the card tends to run hot sometimes. A reboot fixes it, but sometimes it can get very hot when hardly anything seems to be running. My case is cooled very well, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Other Thoughts: Definitely worth the money. I am completely happy with this card.

5 out of 5 eggsBeauty and a Beast!!

Pros: This card is well built. Great features. Back plate supports the card and prevents sagging. The cooling on this card is great. Plays CSGO @ 60C. Hottest temp I saw was 70C running benchmarks. Not too loud. The cosmetics on this card are excellent. Plays every game I have on maxed settings. Sapphire makes incredibly high quality cards.

Cons: I dont have 2 of these. Its big!! I was barely able to fit this in my cm 690 II, but it fit. Make sure that you can fit this bad puppy in your rig before buying. Takes almost 3 pci slots of space.

Other Thoughts: I wish I would have bought 2 of these at the price I got. Now its out of stock. GG
