4 out of 5 eggsGreat Starting Card

Pros: Great Performance
decently low noise level

Cons: High Power Consumption

Other Thoughts: I put this in my first build since it was great for the price. It's perfect if you are just starting to build. I can run games (Borderlands 2, Dead Space 2, Mass Effect 2) on max settings and get a good 60fps. Only issue I had was the VRM's on the first one was faulty but I got a replacement and it's working great. Either way, it's a good GPU to have for a workhorse.

5 out of 5 eggsPrice/Performance

Pros: I installed this 6970 in my friends computer. I have a different Sapphire variant of the same card running in my desktop for 2 years.

Both cards are functioning well. In specific, this model runs at 65C under sustained load within a well ventilated case. It is a fantastic value if you can support the power draw and heat dissipation.

Overall performance cannot be matched without spending another $50.

.

Cons: Based on older 40nm tech, it draws a full 250 watts of power and dumps that much heat into the case. Furthermore, It is long and may not fit (well?) into smaller MATX or ITX cases.
Based on an older GCN architecture that may start to show its age or ceede its perfomance edge to similar costing current mid-range cards in future programs.

Other Thoughts: If you are interested in getting excellent 1080P or good 1440P performance for a C note, there are really no other options. Eventually the power consumption might negate the delta in cost between this and similar performing current gen mid-range cards.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT VID CARD FOR THE BUCK

Pros: Fantastic price for a 6970. Less than 1/2 of what I paid for my other 6970. Installed latest CCC and drivers and results were horrible. Installed CCC 13.4 and performs fantastic.

Cons: As stated received vid card and installed latest CCC and Ouch what a pixel and blocking night mare. I uninstalled and reinstalled CCC 13.4 with drivers and performs perfect. For some reason the newer CCC is not compatible with this card, Idle temps are 37C and you will not need a space heater while gaming in winter months. I would check your drivers before condemning the video card. Enjoy.

Other Thoughts: Well Super Egg Saver Shipping speaks for it self. If you are in a hurry for your item than do not go this route.

5 out of 5 eggsless than $100

Pros: Fast, fairly quiet even with both fans working flat out. Great performance for the money. Performance on a budget, this is a plus!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Had to use an 8 pin and a 6 pin pcie connections to get it to run, never had that before.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: HDMI connection, multiple monitor support easy to install. easy to OC with AMD Catalyst software, and keeps cool with the added coolers. 3D support built in.

Cons: None, I think we've gotten over the size issues of Graphics cards rite? If you haven't your probably not a gamer and that is ok.

5 out of 5 eggsSaphire Radeon HD 6970

Pros: Works great with Vegas 13, I can now render .mpg files in 20 minutes instead of 60. Plays all the games I need it to great- Skyrim, I-racing and Star Wars the Old Republic

Cons: It's a little loud when put under full load, you'll need a good high wattage power supply with this. I have a 750 watt, it's rated at a minimum 550 watt. Doesn't support DX-12 but for what I'm using it for I don't care.

Other Thoughts: For around $100 this is by far the best purchase I made for Vegas. It performs better than some cards costing 5x as much or more. It previews in the highest quality and doesn't hicup with putting text overlays or transitions. I am absolutely amazed. As far as gaming goes, it's about the equivalent of a GTX 750ti. It's a great buy if you already have a good power supply. Highly recommended for Vegas 13.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card, great price

Pros: Great performing card for the price. Fairly quiet; the two large fans are much more silent then the blow-through type coolers. The lack of side badging is a plus for me too, I hate looking through the side case window and seeing a bunch of branding stickers...

Cons: LARGE! Barely fits in my Antec 902 case, had to rearrange my HD setup to fit it. It's snug, but it's in. The 6 and 8 pin plugs are in an awkward spot, but that's the case on most cards... Would much rather have them face forward instead of the side to get rid of some of the clutter.

Other Thoughts: I got this card to replace a failing XFX 4870 HD 1gb that was the better part of 7 years old. Although that card did well for what I needed, I figure what better time to step up in performance, and I'm very satisfied with this 6970. I have yet to put it through it's paces in anything graphically demanding, but I have a feeling I will not be disappointed. Highly recommend :)

5 out of 5 eggsNice affordable mid-range card

Pros: This card contains 2 GB of GDDR5 memory with a 256 bit memory interface. The card supports monitors with DVI-I, HDMI, or Display Port interfaces. The card has dual fans that are relatively quiet running at 54% when under 100% GPU load. Under a normal load the fan speed hovers at 20%.

The card indicates that you need a power supply with a minimum of 550 watts. There are a lot of inexpensive power supplies that claim a rating of 550 to 650 watts of power. Unfortunately, if the truth were known they are only capable of a true 300 to 450 watts of power. The video card has a 8-pin and a 6-pin power connectors. So make sure that you have a power supply that has the necessary cables to support the card. I have a 750 watt power supply in this computer. If your power supply doesn't have these two connectors then I would NOT recommend looking for a molex to PCI-E adapter. Instead I would spend the money and invest in a better power supply.

Cons: This card did not come with a DVI to DB15 adapter. However, a person buying this level of card wouldn't normally be using a monitor with the old analog connection anyway.

Other Thoughts: I stressed this video card using a program called FurMark. When I started the test the GPU temps were at 35-36 degrees Celsius. Under a full load the GPU temps only reached 69 degrees Celsius. Since the maximum temperature for this GPU is around 100 degrees Celsius the stock cooler allows some room for overclocking. I do not overclock so I did not test the card to see how far it could be safely pushed.

This is the second card that I have purchased. I installed the first card in my daughter's machine and I was so impressed with it that I bought another one for my own machine. This card has enough horse power to handle all of your normal work and also play most of the games at a reasonable frame rate. That is saying a lot for a $100.00 card.

If you are wanting a video card with decent resolution that will handle your normal tasks and also allow you to play most games then this card should not disappoint you.

4 out of 5 eggsstill a good card!

Pros: for an older card not supported for the extra benifits for Direct X 12 it hold up pretty well even with today's gaming titles especially when paired with the fx-6300.

Cons: get hot really easilly, and the fans sound like a jet engine taking off!, however if you have a case that supports at least 6, 120mm fans then your in the clear.

Other Thoughts: the heatsink design is well built with copper heat pipes, but sapphire should have done a little better job on the fans.
