5 out of 5 eggsVisiontek + Gecube 3870 X2's Crossfire-X

Pros: Runs even better when you manually set the fan to anything higher than 60%! Currently have both of my 3870 x2's clocked at 866/1000, sure beats stock 825/900! Wish that Crysis played better with ATI cards, but I'll live, plays everything else RIDICULOUSLY well!

Cons: Crysis coders must be nvidia biased! =\

5 out of 5 eggsGECUBE 3870X2 Rocks

Pros: The price is right for the performance.
I've owned an 8800GTX, 8800GT, 8800GTS 320 and a 2900PRO 1GB in the past year.
The 3870X2 is a splendid card, performs well, runs cool, 55-60°c on both cores while gaming, fan @ 48%.
Crysis on high at 1600x1200 55-40fps, 3D Mark06 20.5k with quad @ 3.9ghz, X2 @ 877/2100.
Without a doubt the 3870X2 is the best single slot card out to date, no need for CF or SLI if you buy an X2.
I thought about another X2 for CF, but with the 4870X2 due out in June, I'll wait.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It's a very long card, 10.75" to be exact.
Make sure you have at least 11" of clearance from the expansion slots to the front.

About Mardens review stating GECUBE has no support or a website..LOLOL yes they do.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card, Very Fast

Pros: Very fast. 3dMark06 score with X1900 & X1900XTX i crossfire was 10K. thsi card in Vistya 64 Stock with X6800 I score 15600, the visual quality while playinG CSS is drastically improved. Set the Catalyst Ai to Advanced and get 200 FPS in CSS with a single card

Cons: Teh software that came with this wasnt 64 bit or compatible with Vista. Had to go dorectly to ATI to get the drivers. Not too bad I would jst hope all software would be seen twith a retail producy

Other Thoughts: Asus Maximus Extreme
X6800 ( QX9650 on order )
4 Gig G.Skill DDR3 1600MhZ
Gecube 3870x2
Vista 64 Ultimate

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as Advertised

Pros: Card runs great. COD 4 looks great. Runs 1600x1200 high settings without a hitch. 1920x1200 high settings but quirky.

Cons: Stock heatsinks and fan not very efficient. The farther chip from the fan is over 70 degrees Celsius.

2 out of 5 eggs"Gecrap"

Pros: None, the card was DOA

Cons: I would avoid this namebrand at all costs. I bought this card thinking there was no real difference from the other 3870 X2's just to find out how wrong I was. First off, Gecube has no website, no number, no driver downloads or any other kind of support for there product. Newegg was out of all there 3870 X2's and Gecube was all they had left at the time, so I bought it.

Other Thoughts: This item ships out of CA. as well, so it took me a week to get it ordering it 3 Day UPS ground (I live on east coast). So now that it was DOA I have RMA it and sent it back a week ago and they still have yet to even recieve it, 3 days or so for processing I am sure it will take another week to get a new one back and all this at my own expence. This product has really ruined my experience building my dream machine.

SPECS:
Asus Maximus Extreme Mobo
HITACHI Deskstar 1 Terabyte HDD, 7200 RPM 32M Cache
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz
PLEXTOR 18X DVD±R (2 of them)
Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 Power Supply
Patriot 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
Logitech G15 2-Tone USB Wired Standard Gaming Keyboard
Logitech G5 2-Tone 7 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Laser Mouse
GECUBE HD3870X2-F3 Radeon HD 3870 X2 1GB

So if I ever get a working Vid Card, I cannot wait to see what this puppy can do.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Happy

Pros: Um......they look cool.

One of them is pretty fast and stable after reassembling the whole thing correctly. Being a hardware troubleshooter came in handy with these things.

Cons: Both cards I bought were junk. I had to return one with a fan that made my machine sound like a diesel truck since it was hitting the cover and wobbling.

The card I still have was unstable, so upon taking it apart rather than deal with being without BOTH cards, I find the heatspreader not touching 3 of the ram chips. I find thermal pads on the RAM, pci bridge and VRM modules? Not good! And paint on any heatsink is an insulator. Someone needs to go back to school for remedial science. And with chips that reach 70 celsius, you don;t put that cheap white thermal grease on the GPUs. You use something of a higher quality. At least I know why the price was this low.

Gecube needs to pay attention to who is assembling these things, or at least test them before they so willingly push them off on unsuspecting customers.

I have never bought 2 cards only to have both of them bad out of the box. That is just pathetic. Last time I ever buy this brand.

Use riva tuner for fans!

Other Thoughts: 900 dollars for a bunch of frustration that ruined the whole experience of building my dream machine. Thanks Gecube! Great Quality control and a job well done!
After all two out of two isn't bad right?

Thankfully, Newegg refunded my money and I was able to make things right by going with another brand. I cannot say enough good things about dealing with newegg. Even with an annoying experience like this, they did the right thing and made it right. I will always get my hardware here.

FAIL!!!!!

Oh and ATI needs to learn how to write drivers which shouldn't be something difficult when they developed the chips. What a joke. Selling me a half functional product while advertising all this crossfire-x bull on the box. Whatever!

So here I am now STILL waiting for a replacement VISIONTEK.
Since for some reason these first cards from my great friends at Gecube were totally removed from inventory for a while. Makes me wonder....

I highly recommend another brand. No seriously.

5 out of 5 eggsA Fantastic Card!

Pros: This card rocks! The Dual GPU's give this card the performance, speed and power to run just about anything you can throw at it! Recently ATI released the Catalyst 8.3 drivers that have increased the overall performance of this card. As ATI matures the drivers, I certainly expect this card to get better and better! Highly Recommend!

Cons: Make sure you have plenty of room in your PC Case! This thing is big! I have a Thermaltake TAI CHI full tower, and had to squeeze the fan end of the 3870x2 a hairsbreadth from the hdd sata plugs! It also throws a lot of heat! You will definitely need a good cooling solution to control the overall chassis heat. Your cpu, ram and other components will feel the 3870x2's ambient temps!

Other Thoughts: Prior to buying the GeCube 3870x2 card I had an ATI X800XL PCI-e card. While I had the X800XL my cpu (E6600 Core 2 Duo) idled at around 28C. Since installing the 3870x2, my cpu idles at around 34C. Not anything to be concerned about but it gives some idea of how the card can affect overall temperatures inside your PC case.
