Works Well within Reason.
- Pros: Simple to connect and capture analogue video signals, Looks good, works well. Software is basic and simple to use. Captures high quality analogue video into avi files.
- Cons: Software Captures AVI files excessively large. One hour of video translates to 70GB. Has to then be rendered and saved again with Premiere, a process that takes about as long as the video is long, to create a workable 1 hour avi file of 20GB. 70GB to 20GB? Excessively Large!
- Other Thoughts: This works well and is easy to use, but you need a large amount of hard drive space to composite for the excessively large file size, and you should have a program that can then handle the excessively large AVI file into a more workable avi file. You should also have a strong CPU and high RAM so that it will not lock up your computer or do funky stuff to your video.
Pretty good
- Pros: Works like it says, looks pretty good. Easy to use, easy to install. Software is alright for free.
- Cons: Sound is not very good through the device. Not loud enough but if you go through the sound card it does great.
- Other Thoughts: Used it to get VHS tapes on the computer and edit and make DVDs. Has been great so far.
Limited Use
- Pros: Easy to install, Easy to use, Sound quality average, Video quality average.
- Cons: Choppy Video, Sound not in sync with video, Driver version 1.0, device not recognized by Adobe Premier.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this to plug in my old hi8mm video camera or VCR to my computer so that I can convert my home movies to dvd using Adobe Premier. First of all the driver is version 1.0 and there are no updates for it. Second after capturing about 10 minutes worth of video the frame rate drops way down and starts to become choppy and the sound becomes unsynchronized with the video. The only thing that worked to capture the video was the free ulead software that came with the device. Windows Movie Maker does not recognize the device on my computer even though the instructions suggest to use it if you don't like or can't use the Ulead software. Also this device is not recognized by Adobe Premier.
My system Specs are: AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1 GB RAM Dual channel OCZ, 256MB Geforce 6800GT, Maxtor 80GB hard drive with 50GB free.
